Quote: So a mini sd (kingston 1gb) is better than a micro sd?
In compatibility it may seem so, but in theory they should be identical in performance, the test shown in that list says 4-5, so it could be 4 for FAT32 formating, and 5 for the FAT16 64k formating, which would make the identical in performance.
Quote: What would you need for an M3 perfect
The would depend what M3 Perfect you get (M3CF/M3SD/M3MiniSD) the clues in the names - CF = Compact Flash, SD = Secure Digital, MiniSD = Mini Secure Digital
Quote: how do you format it to that version?
For this i'll pinch pakixds answer:
Originally posted by pakixd: its tricky in windows.. kind of hidden
click Start, and then right click on "My Computer" and click "Manage"
Click on "Disk Management", right click the drive and click "Format". It will let you choose FAT16/FAT32 and cluster size as well

I got the same one and it works great with M3 Perfect Lite Micro SD. I was so surprised to find the M3 clearing the NDS completely. It just replaces the original plastic thingie that came with the NDS. Absolutely nothing is poking out :-)
It was quite a challenge to buy an NDS Lite though. Four stores were sold out, before I got my hands on the very last one in the fifth.
btw. mr_hanky thank you very much for keeping this guide up to date. It was a big help for me in deciding whether to spend my 30s testing NDS games :-)
thanks again.

I think I have decided on the m3 platinum combo. Seems to me would be the best of both worlds. With the simply being a passcard in its self, the combo should be the best value. For sure the most compatiblity.

nice to see someone in the same boat as me. although i actually bought mine subconciously when just checking prices. they really should have a confirmattion page clearing everything rather than just a button...-_-;
here's a 2 part question:
what brand sd card should i buy and did you notice modchipstore says it will ship on dec 29th (the simply by itself says dec 27th)?

I say stay with kingston if you can. Any good brand should be ok. Just try to stay away from the the generic brands and should be ok. I also noticed the dates. Had me wondering as well.

Volume Label: Anything, 'M3' maybe?
Filesystem: FAT16
Allocation Size: 64k
These tend to be the best settings for game compatibility and speed.

okay but in the drop down menu for file system it only says FAT OR FAT32 so probably FAT means FAT16, right?

yes fat16 = fat
I have to say I am very happy with my Kingston 1GB Micro SD card solution. it works great.
Is there any way to transfer files to my micro sd card over wifi ? I mean from PC/M3 manager directly to NDS. Probably not, huh ?

There is a program in development called DSFTP or FTPDS which aims to do this, I havn't really been following the project, but if you google it you may find something.
