Your image has gone read only and you wont be able to FTP a new image to it,
You will have to use the IFA program to reflash your box I'm afraid m8.

Hi oggnog
I have tried to flash my DBOX, but it just doesn't want to connect to my laptop/pc. I used flashfxp and even smartftp to connect to the dbox via the router using crossover cable. I just couldn't connect to it.
The following is a link of the lcd screen of the dbox, it just doesn't go anywhere beyond that (as soon as its plugged in, it will straight away go to that screen) and there's no response to pressing buttons on the remote.

Any ideas or assistance would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have tried to flash my DBOX, but it just doesn't want to connect to my pc. i have also tried to connect to my laptop but im getting the same problem. I have tried using FLASHFXP and Dbox2 Image Flashing Assistant and SmartFTP. i am using crossover cable between dbox and computer. i also have ethernet cable connected between dbox and computer. I have changed the IP address in my ethernet connection tcp/ip properties to that of my dbox. I keep getting message that the network is not connected. I guess its probably something very simple that im doing wrong but any help would be much appreciated. i know that if i can get my computer to talk to the dbox i will have no problem flashing it.

Thanks for trying to help. I have got several of the beginners guides and various other pdf files from various sites. Also been through a lot of other forum message boards etc which all give good clear instructions as to how to flash etc. It's just that i appear to be stuck at the very first hurdle. I'm sure it must just be that i dont have the right settings under the ethernet connection properties. I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction, or tell me were im going wrong. When i connect my network cable, i go into its internet Protocol settings and change the IP address to that of my dbox. i also use the same Subnet Mask as that shown on my dbox. i also disable firewalls etc ( i have Kasperkey Internet Sercurity which i completely turn off). I then run one of the FTP programs and then power up the dbox. I cant get any further as i cant get a network connection between dbox and computer.

Rechecked all settings including speed but still getting message that network cable is unplugged. i have double checked all cables and even replace it incase it was faulty but still having no luck. Is it possible that i have to do something to the dbox settings for it to recognise the network connection (although i dont remember reading anywhere that i should).

When watching using a sportster image, some programmes have AUDIO description enabled for hard of hearing customers. However, how do I switch this off. I think I have to press "green" but this is not available on a standard DBOX2 nokia remote. any ideas - either by changing the remote or otherwise?
