lol, well, I'm not offended, don't worry
It's just that people always assume my name to be male which, in fact, is JUST in Japan... but alright... don't mind actually, hehe.

Right adress here - I'm a game's tester (my profession - great job, hehe)
Well, there's a lot of that on the Gamecube (take the Zeldas for example - though they have less story - or Tales of Symphonia, which is at least half action-based). With the PS2 it's harder to find anything with an action-based fighting system AND great story...
What excactly is important to you? The fighting style or the kind of storytelling or...?

This game is closest i have seen on a console in similarity to the n64 zeldas.. General story with rpg interest I guess. I'm more older school stuff. things without quests like god of war is things i do not care for. Best answer I guess more storyline the better. Less just hack n slash without a plot Hack and slash is ok for most but gets boring after awhile :)

Ok, so then you best start by trying the Final Fantasies (FF X-2 should be cool for you but therefor you should have played FF X, too... my favorite is FF IX) or Dragon Quest (they are called Dragon Warrior in the US). Also great are Grandia, Xenosaga or the .hack-Series. Those are all Japano-RPGs - some more action based, other less (Xenosaga in fact is more like a movie with playable parts in between, but the story's cool :D)
You might also like games like Devil May Cry (they are action games - take the first one, if you like to give it a try - it's the best).
I'll try and think of some more - hope that helps :D

Where are you from? You don't happen to speak German, do you? The magazine I'm working for is called consol.AT with the website www.consol.at - it's the biggest Austrian Gamer's Magazine. There are a lot of tests online too, however... just in German, though - sorry!

Dark Cloud 2. I never played the first, but the second so far is really fun. The storyline is a little childish, and if you start playing the game, you'll see what I mean, but it definitely caught my attention with all the time travel, origin points, creating/building your own cities, leveling up your weapons, etc. Each game you make has the potential to be unique in many ways which I think is pretty cool. You might want to check it out cause I think it's a classic hit meaning $20. Can't hurt to try right?
AkiraFF: Interesting to know. Too bad I didn't take German, (I wanted to... damn French) I know a girl going into AP next year though so I might just test her knowledge for a little fun ;).
I've played Devil May Cry. It'll keep your attention for maybe a day or two. They are fun while they last, but certainly not something you'd play over and over or accumulate more than 10 hours on. I heard Devil May Cry 3 is near impossible, so you might want to watch out for that one if you're not top of your video gaming class...
Dragon Quest: Heard some really good stuff about those. I was meaning to rip a couple of the titles (There's like 7 right?) to the HDD and try 'em out when I got the chance, but I never got around to it. Definitely worth your while though in many people's eyes.
Grandia/Xenosaga: Those are a lot like the FF's if you ask me. Turn based if I'm not mistaken and I don't think that's what he's looking for.
Meh, it's too bad you don't have an Xbox. There's Advent Rising, Vexx, a couple Morrowinds, PSI Op's and a lot more actually. I have all the games I mentioned and all are a lot of fun. Right there you'd have a good few months of game play granted you slept, ate, and possibly blinked every once in a while. A few in there are sort of sci-fi shooters, but they definitely have a compelling storyline to back them up.
As for N64 Zelda's, I don't think there's anything that compares coming from the PS2. I also don't think any later title to the series does those classics justice, but that's just me. If N64 Zelda is what you're looking for, to date, in my opinion, exactly that is the only thing that'll suffice. Mod an Xbox and you're right back to the old days with Link and Epona riding around catching Poes. Worth the couple bucks if you ask me.
Well that's my two cents. Look at me, I should write for a gaming magazine as well ;).

You should send an application to IGN ;D
Your right - Dark Cloud's cool, too - totally forgot about that :)
The games are round based, yep - but the stories are good and they're fun anyway :)
About the Dragon Quests: There are 8 so far and the 7th and 5th ones are supposed to be the best. I'm currently playing the 8th but I must admit that it can't come up to KH II after playing that right before this one...
DMC is kinda short, yeah - but it's one of my favorites (Dante Fan, hehe) 3rd one's though, indeed - but beatable.

Lol, I think you need to be a legal adult to apply to IGN first off, and anyway, I'm an AMC Theatre slave. Free movies is pretty hard to beat...
I'll have to check out Dragon Quest 7. Sounds interesting just judging from the name cause Dragons are pretty awesome. I read The Hobbit just cause of the kickass dragon on the front cover...
I played the first Devil May Cry and had enough. Killing that lava spider for the 4th time sort of bored me :). I won't lie though, it did have some pretty cool aspects/fight combos, but near the end you could predict just about anything they could have thrown at you. Ifrit's gloves rocked the boat!
Oh, and just for your information graffik, she didn't mean Dark Cloud was round based. That game is totally your hack and slash style.

Unfortunately they don't have much to do with Dragons... the first one did but that's quite a long time ago... but they're still cool (though more fighting-based and less story-based than the FFs)
Are you working at a cinema then? Sorry, I don't know AMC since I'm from Europe as you know by now :D

Never heard of a lot of those, seeing as my video game knowledge basically extends only as far as what I've bought and played. However, I've heard good stuff about Shadow Hearts and Star Ocean. That's all I got really. Good luck on your RPG/Adventure quest though. Hope you find what you're looking for.
Back to Kingdom Hearts discussion in the Official Kingdom Hearts Thread ;).
I just noticed (I'm not exactly sure how I missed this) that just because you get an S Rank on Gummi missions doesn't necessarily mean you beat the mission completely. There are treasures you can miss. Most of my missions are within the 90% treasure recover, but I'd really like 100... Anyone have some tips for easy pick ups of these treasures? I'm having some difficulty with the Assault on the Dreadnaught (mission 3) and most missions in both Highways.
There's always more isn't there? Sigh...

GUMMI MISSIONS- Level one and 2 can be completed as F to A and S rank
LEVEL 3 is same but can goto S + 1 to s +10 rank
To gain 100% in jimmy's journal all ranks I believe must be at least S and 100% object recovery (may not require s as long as having all objects not sure) to get s+1 to s+10 rank you want to have the 'draw' and 'convert' so you also get points for the orbs
levels 1 and 2 recovery is usually fairly easy because you cannot turn however 3 is tricky-
SUGGESTION - SLOW DOWN YOUR SHIP. Add cockpits. just shoot what you can not taking great care of what pay very close to the RADAR looking for the YELLOW BIG SHIPS, concentrate on those if you are going to try to get 100% Slowing ship down is so you don't miss them just don't go past -100 speed try -50 to -70. The lock-on gummis are better than cockpits in my opinion, they still slow down ship, but not as much. And appear to lockon better than cockpits try using those in association with an extra engine or 2, and some power orbs (and require less amounts of the ships point requirements)
TEENI SHIPS don't fool with plating just add weapons and the spears. They do not slow down ship unless you add features that do (or fill up one with all engines hehe) (You don't really need anything like wings engines or such there they're really more or less invulnerable)
There is some codebreaker codes to complete missions but its not the same as earning them (and to complete it all in one code) I added such with 99 AP ship and still can't seem to get all the specials it just takes patience and paying attention to the radar especially level 3
HIGHWAYS: don't slow ships down rely more on lasers and lockons than shots for the BIG WHEELS get close try to have the 'lock-on' before firing at the wheels or you usually miss the wheels usually have lockon like right side first then left then right. As above pay attention to radar when Yellow ships appear.
Hope this helps

First of all: graffik, don't get mad but using Codebreaker or GameShark or any of those things doesn't mean, you beat the game... honestly, using such is against my pride and should be against any real gamefreak's pride ;D
@kingsora:
Best is, you just shoot, whatever comes, with some tips, however:
1. concentrate on groups (often red or golden enemies - which always drop - only appear after you cleared every single same-kinded ship that was at some part of the course)
2. Big enemies (like the crawlers or hunters or reaper wheels, ...) always drop items.
3. get as much medals as you can - being in berserk mode makes everything A LOT easier
if in doubt about some specific items: ask good old friend www.gamefaqs.com and look up the gummi mission guide for KH II :)
@graffik about games:
Star Ocean and Shadow Hearts are cool... but just the new ones - the older ones (of both series) aren't that great.
From your list I'd prefer:
1. DQ VIII
2. Grandia III
3. Summoner II and Shadow Hearts: From the new World

ALL LEVELS SHOULD BE SAME

Hey Drizzt! (D&D Fan? ;) )
That one's tricky:
You have to destroy the first Reaper Wheel in about 1-2 hits (that's one of the hardest parts in the whole game...). After that several knight heads will appear (but they only come if the RW is already dead), which you have to destroy REALLY fast (all of them) - the last one to appear will then be the Golden one - good luck!

For the Reaper Wheels I find that one (two ideally) of those Scatter Wide Cannons, in addition to a fully powered up Ultima/G shot does the trick. Of course you could probably substitute the Ultima/G for a weaker laser, but I find it works quite well with that combo. Good luck.

Ancient Highway - Destroy wheel things- The first wheel is possible to destroy how I did it was have a combo of lasers/shot gummis with a couple of lock-on gummis (the big ones) with alot of power orbs, and a couple extra engines to offshoot power loss and speed. keep hitting X (don't hold it) try to get a lockon on the side of the wheel and maneuver ship closest to that and keep tapping X to shoot missiles/shots if you are close more will hit it.. farther away-less, it usually will not kill it first time.. repeat when come back noting the next lockon will most likely be opposite.. if done correctly when the wheel is knocked back twice it blows it up and should bring additional ships out the later ships may require 3-4 said attacks
also note probably best to do this with a single ships no teeneys attached - see help files for leaving teenes behind
course later on when i build up a ship to 1500-1600 attack points those wheels are hardly a problem :)
