OK i Haven't touched my Wii in years, it's on V2.something i am updating it now.
I will use this post to debug any problems i may have with the guide. TIA to larry for putting this guide together.
My goal is to play backup games from USB drive because it is faster and i hate disks.

Hermes' IOS 222/223:
Launch the HBC and load the cIOS 222 installer.
Press A at the warning screen.
Select IOS249 to perform the install with D-pad left/right and push A
Select to Install Custom IOS 222 and select IOS38 merged with IOS37.
Make sure you get installation complete. If you do not and get an error then rerun this step again.
I've just encountered a similar problem. I made sure I deleted 222 and 223.
When I get to the installer I chose 249 and hit A. Then it freezes and I have to reboot. I've followed everything to the "T"

Did anyone that is having issues with installing Hermeis 222/223 have issues updating to 4.2 firmware?
I know when I first updatied to 4.2 firmware at the end of the update it gave me an error. I went to settings again and it said I was on 4.2 firmware. I wanted to make sure that the update went properly so I ran the update again. The second time I updated I didn't get an error message at the end.
If any had a similar problems like this might want to run the update again. Then start the guise again from the start (if you still have HBC then you probably can skip that step).

Well, Dirt2 is terrible to begin with haha. I wouldn't base the Wii's graphics off of dirt2..
I would try your suggestion evol but i didnt even get to the next prompt about installing 222. I guess I will wait until the sensei (larry) responds.

Try updating the Wii again in the Wii system menu (even if it says your on 4.2) After running the update again and it says you already have 4.2 firmware then let me know.
If it updates make sure it updates with no error message at the end. If you get a error message again try to update again until you no longer get an error message at the end of the update.
After that then start the guide over. If you still have HBC after the update then start with the downgrade IOS15 section again.

Then I don't know what to tell you.
If you made sure IOS222 IOS223 IOS249 IOS250 was deleted using AnyTtitleDeleter then it should have installed with no issue.
Where are you stuck and what does the actual error message say?

Why do you have an extra wad file in the screenshot? The file is not there but the description is. Is this something you forgot to crop fromt he image?

I don't have an extra WAD file in the screen shot.
You may need to refresh your page. I updated part of the guide yesterday.
I explained this 4 post down from the guide post itself.

Went through the entire tutorial starting from the downgrade IOS15 section. Everything worked flawlessly. Tested 'No More Heroes' and 'Conduit' both working.
All of the titles i deleted were back, so i just deleted them again and it was smooth sailing until the end.
Thank you for the great tutorial larry and happy holidays!

Glad you got it worked out.
More then likely cIOS38_rev14 was not installed properly (which is IOS249). So when you start Hermies 222/223 It couldn't continue because IOS249 wasn't installed or didn't install properly.
That is why it is essential to follow every single step of this guide. Also make sure every step is done without errors (except for AnyTitleDeleter which will give errors).

I am having problems with the last part of the guide.
Installed as boot2, etc... and I actually did not get any errors, til this part.
DOP-IOS MOD:
Dop-IOS v9
It asks me Wich IOS would you like to use to install other IOSs?
I select 9
Loading selected IOS
IOS successfully loaded! Press A to continue
IOSs
Press A
Select the IOS you want to DOP i select IOS9 again.
Are you sure you want to install IOS9 v778?
I Press A
Apply Sig Hash Check patch to IOS?
I Press A
Trying to connect...
Network stuff.
And then it fails.
My network is working. Could the file server be down?
What do i do now?

The guide did not say anything.
It doesn't even mention it... hum i now refreshed and it says select IOS249 (hum... let me give it another try.)
Duh... It works just fine now. But is this step really necessary? In current installed version it was always the same version as the one it was downloaded. Is this just to make sure?
Ok now to install USB support :)
Many thanks for the Guide. Very useful and easy to follow.

Hi There, Thanks a mill for the guide, but it doesn't work as it should for me.
When I install the cIOS38_rev14, the screen turns all black and nothing else happens. I have to restart the Wii and when I restart the HBC, the menu item is changed to 'apps/cIOS38_rev14-installer
When I run this, the same thing happens.
Am I doing something wrong here? The network works (the news and weather channel both receive new input).
I didn't dare to go on with the other installs (don't want to brick my Wii ;-)
Any suggestions?

As I said before if the IOS222/223 is not showing then don't worry about it and continue.

Start from the DOWNGRADE IOS15 and follow the guide again.

Thanks for the swift reply, man!
I followed the guide again, as you suggested, but the cIOS38_rev14-installer hanged at 97% loading. I tried to start the app again and then it hung at 96% loading...
[attach mode]
I now realize that I had a chargeing station connected thru a USB-cable.
I also discovered that the HBC is now empty and that the SD-card can no longer be used with the Wii. (So I'm afraid I lost my NAND-backup).
Could you help me out?

I don't understand what you mean by the HBC is empty. Do you mean it is no longer there? If this is the case then follow the HBC & Bootmii section again.
If you mean the applications are no longer showing up then try reformatting the SD card to FAT32 again and readd the softmod files back to it (If you made a NAND backup save that before formating the SD Card to your PC if you can).

The apps are no longer showing in the HBC.
I checked my SD card and I had to officially declare it dead. Can't get it to work: my PC won't recognize it any more (the card isn't detected)
So I think I definitely lost the NAND backup 'cos I reckoned everything went along just fine so I didn't bother to copy it to the PC... How bad is that anyway?
I have no SD card to try it again so I'll first have to wait 'till after Xmas and buy one (or two).

Just backup your NAND again right away when you get the new SD card.

My Wii was already softmodded on 3.2E before I did this. Upgrading my Wii system software and followed this guide! Worked flawlessly, no problems encountered! ^o^ Actually there was one thing, I didnt realise you had to use the wiimote for Any Title Deleter and I was sat there for ages waiting for it to do something coz the GC pad wasn't doing anything! lol
Great guide! ^o^ Thanks Muchly!!

Thanks for the confirmation. But as for the AnyTitleDeleter part if you followed the directions as is you shouldn't have had a Game Cube Controller plugged in the system in the first place.
