Trying to downgrade ios15 after load from SD card I get:
Could not open file: sd:/ios15-64-v523.wad
Could not open file: sd:/ios15-64-v523.wad.out.wad
error reading ios into memory
Downgrade failed Press any button to exit.
I have a new Wii ver4.2E and want to be able to play from usb. Do I need to do every step in the guide for this. I skipped the gamecube part as I had no controller so couldn't move, even with reset/power/eject.
Redownload the WAD files using NUS again.

or is there anyway to get the wii back to its original state ?
Finish the softmod guide.
Then use DOP-IOS to install the latest revision of IOS22.

As I understand it, BootMii is there to let you Backup the NAND Flash but if BootMii is install as IOS you can not restore the image...
So.....Why backing it up if you can't restore it? or am I mising something?
Yes there is a point.
There are services out there that you can send your Wii to and have your NAND restored to your system using a programmer.
So yes I would recommend installing Bootmii even as an IOS and backup your NAND.

Hi Larrylje! I successfully softmodded my wii some months back with your 4.1 guide. I would like to update my system using your 4.2 guide. Unfortunately, I am stuck at the very beginning of your guide. When I tried to run the 4.2 firmware update, I get error 32017 unable to update. My system now says 4.2, but the shop channel asks me to update. So I know the 4.2 update was not successful. I have searched and searched for a solution to this problem, but it seems the only instruction I can find is to call Nintendo. I would like to avoid doing this if at all possible. Do you know of this problem? If so I would really appreciate you pointing me in the direction of a fix. Thanks in advance for your help.
Your guides are great by the way. Thanks for them!
Nick
If you haven't softmoded the system yet try to update again. If you still get an error then finish the softmod guide. Then go to my 4.1 softmod guide in my sig and follow the 4.2 Shop Channel v18: section.
If you have already softmoded the system then to my 4.1 softmod guide in my sig and follow the 4.2 Shop Channel v18: section.
I had to do this for my brother a few days ago.

As far as I know IOS222/223/249/250 should have stubs installed when updated to 4.2 firmware. So if your on 4.2 firmware I would assume you should have them in the System Titles somewhere.
m new at this stuff... i tried doin stuff accordin to this discription.. everythin was fine till i reached ANY TITLE DELETER,... here i dont c any of the files u ppl have asked to delete.. is IOS22 the same as 222???? mine is a LU65 with 4.2u... a lil help here would be useful
If you do not see the IOS file then just ignore it (make sure your pressing - and + and looking at every page). Also IOS22 is different then IOS222 there is an extra 2 on IOS222 if you didn't see the difference.

My previous inquiry is still bothering me, Its not serious but why would my retail suddenly stop showing up in the game drive? It was showing with the softmod, now its says Update.
Also do you have a guide to undo all softmodding? It would really help for anyone who would rather make their wii "innocent" again. Thanks.

I have no idea why it would show an update. Either an IOS needs to be updated to a newer version or an IOS needs to be installed for the game.
If you don't want to be prompted for an update using retail games using the normal disc channel then install Preloader and block game updates. Other then that you can always use NeoGamma to launch retail games also and Neogamma automatically blocks updates.
and NO I am not going to create a unsoftmod guide. Don't softmod your system if you plan on unsoftmodding it.

If your on 4.2 firmware then you can not follow the 4.1 firmware softmod guide.
Follow the 4.2 softmod guide and make sure you follow the directions properly.

Does the guide say to go to channels/sd card?
Read the guide again.
It says to place the SD Card in.
Now select the SD Card Icon which is below the Wii Channel Menu.
It gets so irritating when users don't take the time to actually read the guide.

What does the title of the thread say?
What does the second sentence of the guide say?
What dies the first thing under THINGS YOU NEED: say?

You can say they are up to date all you want. But if it is asking for an update it means an IOS needs to be updated or needs to be installed.

Ive gone through them all and they are all listed as up to date. Need screens to prove it?

Yes IOS15 can be downgraded on all systems/serials
I recommend everyone to backup their NAND.

I don't know what else to tell you. The only time an update prompt will show up is if...
A new system menu needs to be installed (which you already have the latest).
A new IOS needs to be installed.
A new IOS version needs to be installed.
I don't need a screen shot either. One of the above situations is causing the update prompt.
I also gave a few options on how to avoid the game update message.
