If your getting a network error then try googling or use NUS to download IOS38-64-v3610.wad and put it on the root of the SD card.

Great guide! ^o^ Thanks Muchly!!
Thanks for the confirmation. But as for the AnyTitleDeleter part if you followed the directions as is you shouldn't have had a Game Cube Controller plugged in the system in the first place.
lol My Bad. >.< I did unplug it at the point after backing up the NAND, but when I kept booting the console back up, I needed the cube pad to navigate the bootmii menu, so I just left it in... lol Oh wellz, it never did any harm, so all is good! ^o^

Everything seems to function perfectly. But I think im having an issue with my DVD burner. Me and my friend used DVDs from the very same pack and ive gone through 5 and they all received DVD ERROR 1101 in Neogamma. But his burns work. We both used IMGBURN but i cannot get mine to work. Could a specific type of DVD drive matter? Ive tried 1x,2x and 4x speed and nothing. But like I said, his burns from a diff PC worked. I can provide specs or w.e if needed. Help would be greatly appreciated and thanks for the guide. Everything is fine and dandy, just my bad luck screwing up the 3 games waiting to be played on my pc.

larrylje,
After updating the system from 4.1U to 4.2U, I followed your guide
exactly to the tee, and I can verify that everything is working
exactly as you described. Thank You very much for your hard work.
However, I have noticed that you have just updated the initial SD
card setup to include IOS38-64-v3610.wad. There are now 4 files
instead of 3 in the root. Question: Why the change, and do I need
to redo the installation?

Is your system new? Newer systems have DVD drives that can not read backup disc. If this is the case you will need to use USB Loader to play backups.

Best Rgards,
IOS38-64-v3610.wad is for the cIOS38_rev14 section. I just added it so you can install it using WAG Install rather then Network Install. There is no need to redo it since if you followed the previous steps you would already have cIOS38_rev14 installed using the network option.

I CAN play DVDs. Animal Crossing and Cooking Mama 2 to be exact. They run fine, it has to be my burner. Because 2 dvds do work that my friend burnt from his pc.

If the games your friend burned works on your system then your system is softmodded properly. So the nest step is for you to figure out what your doing different when you burn and fix that issue.

We both used IMGBURN, the very same DVDs, and Windows Prof. It has to be my drive. It really upsets me that ill have to go to his place to burn myself games. Its very inconvenient. I know its not the soft mod. It works beautifully. I guess Ill have to look into a cheap external HDD. But i modded my wii because i have no $ haha.

Did you choose WAD install instead of Network install?

There is no need for you to be ungrateful. If you would have read the guide better I wouldn't have had to tell you to read it again.

My Christmas wish is that everyone would follow the guide as is and not skip over parts. Then I wouldn't have to repeat myself or tell other to read the guide again.
So do that and I will cheer up.

Ok then, sorry. I truly am grateful for the guides though. *E-Hug*

I have a problem. I did what the guide said and there are a few games that do not play. I am using USB Loader GX. When it loading up I notice that it says "missing ios 236 reloading into 36". I used anytitle deleter and noticed that it is not in there. Is there anyway to get ios 236? I have about 12 games and the only ones that don't work are Wii Resort, Wii Sports, and Super mario bros Wii. Can anyone help me. Thanks in advance.

Please ask game specific questions in a new thread. We don't need tons of game issue posted in a softmoding thread. If most of your games work then you have successfully softmodded your system. If some games do not work then first look in the Compatibility list I have link to in the guide for support. If you still need help with a specific game then please start a new thread and ask for help in it.

Anybody could explain what each step is for in this Guide?
(I am asking because I only want to be able to load movies from USB... I am not interested in playing Backups games)
Can I just stop after step: "HBC & BOOTMII INSTALL" ?
Or do I still need to play with the NAND Flash?
(I don't have any Cube remote... I don't like the idea of No Backup...)
Ta,

hello
I don't have softmod yet, but I want one. I have 4.0E. Wii wants to update ( I do not know which version I will got with system update, i think 4.2?)
Do you recommend update to 4.2 and then proceed softmod or is it better to stay at 4.0 and softmod for 3-4.1.
