Hi folks im back. Well after installing a new pci card due to my compuetr not recognising my usb adapter. I now have come across a new problem. My receiver is not being detected for some reason i have checked all connection and they seem fine. Due to this i keep getting the mesg that the box is not detected and if i would like to download the firmware in boot mode click the ok button below and ac power on the receiver. Also there is a com poort to select also. Anway when i do everything instructed it still comes up with awiting response from your receiver. Im at my wits end now and ready for throwing the thing in the bucket. Nothing seems to go right for. Would anyone be interested in setting up my box for. I will obviously pay for post and packaging and also a fee at your decsretion for your time also.

The box im trying to sort out is pvr ex5000

Cheers folks

Hi guys -

Bought a Eurovox 5000 Pvr and was following your guide on page1 - sorted out the USB with a null modem on COM1 and got the messages as in the screenshots. The download got to 28% and seemed to hang (although maybe I was too impatient). So tried to start again. Now, the box has 0000 instead of ---- when connected. Also, I click download on the firmware screen, it finds the USB cable ot COM2, I connect the Eurovox but it's frozen at that stage.

Then I plugged into the TV to perform a factory reset in case it helped..

Back to PC - same story.

Not sure what I pressed then, but it asked me if I wanted to flash in Boot mode. So I said ok, and now it's trying to detect the PVR on COM2. I certainly had connectivity before, and the device manager looks fine with the USB device on COM2 confirmed there.

All cables are snug, and the box has power.

Any help greatly appreciated!

Hey Hi tech! Thanks for the quick reponse. In reply to your question however yes i did install the pci card using the the disk that came with it. At the time it said the hardware had been installed ok. Ive checked on device manager and im getting the following

PCI PARALLEL PORT LPT3
PCI SERIAL PORT (COM4)
PCI SERIAL PORT (COM5)

Thanks

Right click PCI SERIAL PORT (COM5) then click on properties,

1, select the port settings tab,

2, Make sure Bits per second is set to the highest settings,

3, Select advanced, (advanced settings box will load)

4, Change COM Port Number pull down box to either 3,2 or 1 .

press ok and try the flash again.

If this dosen't work try swaping the cable to the other serial socket com 4 and try again.

Try a hard boot reset. Unplug the Eurovox from the back of the box, press download on the UFL, wait a few seconds and then plug it back in again. It may take a few attempts.

If that doesn't work providing you have the correct cable which is a Null modem cable you will have to have it Jtagged or send the box back.

BTW I sent you a PM.

Apologies for the wait,

Have you checked to see if the firmware went on your box, If the box powers up go to Menu, Config, System info then OK, please let us know what it says in there.

The 8% fix is for the Eurovox Max V not the 5000 as far as I recall. What software is on your box at the moment?

Whatever you say, say nothing when you talk about you know what for if you know who might hear you, you know what youll get. Youll be sent off to you know where for you would not know how long. Maybe I could search through the threads so you dont have to ??

You are probably scanning on the wrong SR. Who is your provider?

EDIT: Why were you using an attenuator, did you have a signal problem?

hi scanning on 6.952 VM ex c&W in mancheter. got all channels using a variable atennuator as signal rate was 90% sksp is 74/75% but pixelates occasionally as signal appears to 'surge' up then down then it rights itself

You say your box was working 99% fine after you used the attenuator, why did you flash again? Were the resets happening at Midnight or did they happen at any time?

Apologies but I have to leave soon. BTW Manchester has two SRs 6952 and 6887, although if you used 6952 previously well thats yours.

The Blue box tuner was by far the best of any Eurovox tuner, unfortunately they stopped manufacturing them.

The tuners seem to differ in some EX5000s I dont know whether its a driver issue or not. But I have seen people return some for your exact problem and replaced with the same model and all is fine.

I understand your situation as you said you want to see if its the box or cabling at fault. You could try it at a friends house and see if it reacts the same way. If it does you know its the box, if its fine then its your signal. Sorry thats the best I can advise for the moment.

Have to leave so wish you the best of luck.
