Dont know about "any" usb pen off the shelve working but i did however order a max drive usb pen made for the ps2....that did work with no problems...however you gotta be careful and use it strictly to the manual or you can f*** up your memory card

Alright i have heard of this MAXDRIVE thingy but i don't think it's much different to a Normal USB PEN DRIVE. Does it come with a specific software CD? if it does, then thats the trick..... maybe it is specially made for PS2 stuff, i should try this out.... If i can find this software CD

foolish? not likely mate, Ive used a 128MB drive and even my digi-cam to transfer saves using the software.
Action Replay Max is what you need to do it.
It has support for usb mass storage devices.
Have a look on codejunkies.com for more info.

hi
i formated my usb 2.0 pen to fat 16bit
i had probem with 512mb usb pendrive i could backup the files from psTWO to my pen and transfere them to the pc ok. and also put them back on to psTWO memcard but had problem reading them on psTWO console only said it was currupt data.
in the armax file list they have a @ sort of sign on them and they would show ok.
i had a think and what i found was they were crunched.
so use armax cd and enter file list then do not copy to mem card but uncrush to mem card and all shoud be ok.
also i have xploder v5 and you can play mp3s from pen drive but only the one that come with the armax evo
for some reason

hey guys, i got the solution.
go get a ps2
go get a pen drive/usb flash memory stick
go get codebreaker
put in codebreaker
put in pen drive
select device manager on the codebreaker main menu
now you can transfer saves from your memory card to the pen drive
if you want to download game saves off the internet and they're not codebreaker saves, go download a program called ps2 save builder and then you can change the type of the file the save is. like if the save is for AR then open it with ps2 save builder save it as a codebreaker save, then wahlah, you can transfer it on to your pen drive then use codebreaker to transfer it on to your memory card.

I think theres a size limit with ARMAX??

Yes, the AR MAX Upgrade....
This one
It works by using the AR2 dongle (or 8Mb card, from the Limited edition - the one i already had), and i was hoping it had the same files that were on the AR MAX standard and/or AR MAX EVO...
It seems not......
Well, if its a size limit for the pen drives to use with AR MAX, it's surelly a thing for Datel guys to let us know (maybe they put this on the software to prevent the use of a third party USB Flash drives, no???)...
But i really would like to know if someone has managed to put ANY 256Mb pen drive to work with AR MAX....
At least to see if it's only my Sandisk pen or no....

And how you managed to get the 512Mb to work???
My Sandisk 256Mb still won't work!
I've tryed with the factory format, it won't work.
With USBoot, neither!
And formating it with XP, FAT 16 Bit, it won't work also....
Any help would be appreciatted, since it semms AR MAX can manage any USB pen, but i'm having a real trouble getting mine to work!!!
Please....

1.Load up max memory.
2.Put your pendrive in port 1.
3.if the blue pen icon doesnt show up, then your pendrive doesnt work with armax.

I've already tryed that...
And back to point zero!
The weird thing is that if i connect the pen before i turn on the PS2, the pen LED is on when the PS2 boot, but after entering AR MAX menu, it turns off...
If i disconnect and reconnect the Pen, the light turns back on, but the pen isn't recognized!
Maybe AR doesn't like Sandisk's pens....
