In theory if you can properly rip a DVD9 game down to DVD5 then it will ALWAYS work on the PS2. You can acheive this by downsampling the music or fmv sequences. Or even succefully removing some video all together. So in theory if you were able to downsample and shrink files on GT4 it WOULD for sure work in DVD5 format. This is not a guess, but more a matter of how do you get GT4 downsampled. Obviously current methods are not working. But when somebody actually gets it figured out it will be compatible. Until then we all only have questions, and no real asnwers.

ok guys.. sorry to say that i cant take anymore orders for the Chinese vers of GT4.. i've had too many as it is and im a bit worried about sending out soooo many copies(25+) as the cost of buying them, and postage is starting to really mount up.. to the people i have replied to and will send a copy to, i hope you can find a few spare bucks, around $10US to send my way.. you know, or will soon know where to send it as i get confirmations from you all that you do REALLY want the game..
ok, that's about all i had to say,, oh someone asked if the chinese version is metric, it is..
and if anyone knows a site that has a FAQ or walkthrough, with all the menus translated into enlgish it'd be great if you could PM me with a link..
ok. im gonna go and think about auctioning off more copies of this game on E-Bay for some big bucks.... or something..

Flip,, sorry if i broke the rules here.. i'll click your link and read them now.. i did skim through them when i joined up here, but i guess i skimmed a bit quick huh.. anyways, it wont happen again, i dont want to cause trouble.. i just wanted to help share the fun of playing this game for the people who dont have access to it.. i never wanted to be asking for money, but i underestimated the intrest people here have for the game, and well, thought this was a smaller thread with not many people using it..
im gonna shut up now and hope you're not too pissed at me.. again, im sorry...

Thats ok but i need to know why i cant get into the last section in pro hall (world championship) even tho ive done all the beginner and the rest of pro hall & got all the licences and done over 26 percent of the game (you need to do 25 percent to get into endurance hall).
Interestingly theres an actual 24 hr race at the Nurburg Ring (YES YOU READ IT RIGHT 24 HOURS!!!!!!!)
Ive got all gold in every race as well!!
I'm not bragging its just a fact of life LOL

24hours... myyyy goooodddd.. not even in real life does a single driver have to endure 24h's nonstop racing.. that one's going to be tough! and im already feeling sorry for my PS2 having to run for so long.. i already half killed it playing too much GTA San Andreas when that was released..
im having trouble with the VW races.. i got the Gulf for getting my first licence and wanted to enter the Gulf Cup in the VW cars screen/shop/whatever.. but it doesnt want to let me enter the championship.. only thing i can think of is that the cars must have to be standard? i modded mine up a little(chip and s1 turbo) for the FF races in beginer.. so i guess i better go try entering with an unmodded crapy Gulf, and get my butt kicked by the Gulf Cup Cars no doubt.. im really gonna have to knuckle down and get some racing done it seems.. i've just got too many games on the go atm, that and work and social commitments.. hmmph.. what i would give to be 17 again with nothing much else to do but play all day and not feel like a slackarse about it..

you have the license you need for that race?
Usually it shows in RED what you need to enter that is currently conflicting!

got the lincence, no red popping up on the screen before you actually get to the race screen.. everything seems fine until i click start race and i get some yellow speechbubble come up with something in Chinese writen in it.. no biggy really, i work in a school with a heap of chinese english teachers that im great freinds with, i'll just drag one of them over to my place to have them translate it for me if i cant figure it out myself.. the strange thing was it'd let me race it with the same car in B-spec????
i'll have a look at it after i finish my next class which is about to start and let you guys know what was wrong incase anyone else has the same problem..
hey, then i might actually be contributing some help for once in this forum.. as if sending people copies wasnt enough.. *smirks*

What you need to do with the Golf is go to a race where you can use the car and change the turbo and chip back to the original settings then start then exit the race, it should stay with the original settings!! ;)
Ive tried this with other cars and it worked so give it a go.

Java,, thanks, but i know that much.. its no different to the last versions.. im still yet to play the game since i wrote my last few entries here, but im guessing all i have to do is race the gulf in the gulf car cup with no mods.. which is pointless as the actual golf cup cars that are in race spec etc will kick my standard basic road modle cars butt, even if i can get away with sticking some slicks on its feet.. well, maybe not then, but screw it, im not spending that much on tires this early in the game.. if anyone has done the Gulf Car Cup in the VW shop and has anything they can tell please do, but im sure i'll have it worked out in a few hours when i finish work..
also, can anyone tell me if you get a different car for getting all bronze, silvers and golds in the licence tests.. i've gotten a good feel for the new physics in this game and like the last few versions i dont usually have much trouble getting all golds when it comes to the licences.. i've only got the basic iB? so far and that's how i got the gulf, im sure i'll get another car if i get all golds, but getting even another for all silvers would be great.. that's usually how i'd start a game off in GT3.. and is a great way to hold out from spending money on upgrades thus saving it for certain cars you dont seem to be awarded and need for specific events.. (as im sure you all know)

Supposedly a SONY DWD-22A will burn OTP/PTP. Anyone tried using this drive yet or one that does support PTP burning?

it only supports reading PTP, not writing...
there's no publicly available drive that writes in PTP...
anyway... I just got my chinese import from lik-sang!!!! i think i'm going to hide from the world for the next days... :)

Man this sucks i cant believe noone has found a way to convert this DVD9 to DVD5. The day halo was released on the internet there was a kit to convert to DVD5 its been like a month now and still no progress?
