kiv sir,
I really need to convert you to DVD-RB/CCE especially since you use only premium media. They really are a superior encoding combo, believe me.

@Mr. Mort
On average how long does it take to encode a movie? Also, with the other encoders, i.e. Shrink, Recode or CloneDVD your process usage is at about 100% is it lower when using RB/CCE?

Hi arniebear,
You guys better quit calling me Mr.
I run my ripped folders through dvdremake to remove previews, trailers, adverts, warning screens, and whatever extras I don't want keeping a functional menu, the movie of course, bloopers, deleted/extended scenes, and the extras I want to keep. The trimmed and polished folders are usually between 6500 mb and 7000 mb. Sometimes a little bigger, sometimes a little smaller. It takes on average right around 2 hrs to encode. Well worth the wait. One nice thing about it is I can set it up to batch process several folders while at work or asleep.
RB/CCE also uses 100% of cpu and unlike shrink it does not have a run backup in low priority mode option making any multi-tasking slow and sluggish since most resorces are being used to encode.

i have verb dvd+rs made in taiwan but it says mitshubitshi chemical corp on the back and its non advanced azo die. Now i must say these disks suck on my ps2 and memorex seems to perform better even though everyone says it sucks. wtf?

Try booktyping your verb +r's to dvd-rom or if your burner is not capable of doing this try some -r's.
Try updating your f/w.
What format are the memorex's?
What speed are you burning at?
What software are you useing?

i've stated in another thread that i don't have experience w/ backing up games, never have, most likely never will, but for memorex to be better, don't think that will ever hold true. my only response to that is "wtf" as you stated before, i don't know why that is...perhaps the procedure of backing up games is slightly different than backing up movies/data~ ??
or perhaps you got a bad batch of Verbatims? should just wait till someone w/ game/ps2 backup experience responds to that comment...if i may ask, are those Verb DVD+R you are using in the 8x variety? MCC003 coding? if they are the 4x or lower, there is a GOOD chance they are MCC002s...what speed are you burning them at? as mort had previously asked...
