hey papa i read it too but like 3 years ago lol so i really dont remeber i just skimmed alittle before posting and i cant really c where it says or kindof tells us that the covenaunt r like well known about. the first part of the novel is like wat is going on in the middle of the book and then it goes to "before all that were gonna show you how the spartens came to be and such"

makes me think of a great book called Jonny got his Gun.

But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

The blurb on the back of the book kinda gives the fact that the covenant are well known away lol.

Hey papa_face i dont wanna insult your intellgience but i just opened my Fall of Reach novel and went to ch. 1 where it says the year is 2517. If your read Captain Keyes wakes up to a red light and he asks "Are we under Attack?" He is on a shuttle near Eridanus on the border of the outer colonies. The novel clearly says "it was just far enough off the beaten path for PIRATES (NOT COVENAUNT HE DOES NOT SAY THE WORD ALIEN OR COVENAUNT IN THIS ENTIRE CHAPTER OR THE NEXT) All the way up to where Dr. Hasley meets john there is no mention. There is a large rebel and insugent type problem going on in the outer colonies. NOW let me enlighten you for once lol(since you dazzel all of us) the spartens were not trained in the BEGGING for the covenaunt but to go in as like a special ops teams and elminate REBELS. Ah Ha i just spent the last 10 minutes skimming thru lik 10 chapters. They(the UNSC) discover the covenaunt after they find planet Harvest Glassed by technology far too advanced to be human. This is in 2525 after the Spartens mission againts a rebel base or somthing where John got a Purple Heart =D.

I suppose you are correct so far as the book says, however with Halo you have to read deeper into things. Also you have to take into consideration that Bungie is the only entity in the world that knows the answers to these things, even the obvious to us can be disproved.

We believe they call themselves 'The Covenant'
I guess your correct then, I must have some sort of amnesia or something, how could I not remember such a thing :s. Sorry about the confusion lol.

No biggie papa i just wanted to show u that cause i kept saying to myself "i know hes not entirely right". So i got the answer. O and srry bout mispellin covenant i kept thing of astronaut lol soo i just kept spellin it with like the enaunt part. When i read it Covenant sounded like Coven-aut to me for alittle (lol i have no idea y). Ok anyways yea like to book said they find planet Harvest glassed and an alien vessel that attack them when they try to make contact. Then they decode the message and find out theyre called the Covenant. The second thing they, the Covenant, said to the UNSC in english (the Covenant had one of their AI or somthin or a computer say this to the UNSC in english) "Your destruction is the will of the Gods...and we are their instrument."

Yeah, I think I was initially getting confused with the length of time the Covenant had been studying the Humans because it is mentioned that they had been observing the Humans for some time. I dont know why I just find the beginiing of The Fall of Reach confusing :S

It's one of those books thats got like alittle part of the begging of the book taken from the main problem going on i.e a battle between UNSC and Covenant. So yea it was a bit confusing at times. This time i actually under stood it better lol.

Sorry didnt mean it to sound like that.

I think that Fall of Reach was the best. Dietz didn't do as good a job on The Flood but it still turned out good. I did get confused with some time things in First Strike though. Mostly because of the time-bending crystal.

Yes, that works into my other theory that when the Halo's were originally activated they were sent back in time, hense the highly sophisticated forerunner technology.

oh yeh i see.. so dya think its like terminator? the way the humans sent him back t protect jon connor.. that the covenant sent the halo's back t destroy or control the flood?
and the reason they're killin humans is because they see them as potential risk t bein bodies for the flood t infect? so instead of riskin it.. they decide t exterminate all humans?

my friends and i call flood infected humans floomans..

anyways, can the flood infect the covenant? why would they kill themselves? plus why do the flood infect?

Yes the flood can infect the covenant. They can be infected and become warrior forms or carrier forms. The carrier forms contain the infection forms that infect other organisms. The flood infect for their survival. I dont quite understand what you mean by "why would they kill themselves?" please explain. It is important to note that only organisms with sufficient calcium stores can be used as hosts.

Kind of, its complicated, I think that the forerunners activated Halo not the covenant.
I also have other theories like the monitors of the installations killed the forerunners.

The Covenant believe in the Great Journey. The Great Journey is who ever activates the Halo's (since they have religious significance to the old Covenant) will be cast into the divine beyond. A place of religious importance to the Prophets. Please note that the Covenent (meaning everyone except the Prophets) does not actually know what the Great Journey is. The only beings that know what the Great Journey is, are the Prophets.

You guys confuse ur selves too much. Its like you guys (not papa mainly anubis)didnt even pay attention to the halo2 story line. Dude didnt u ever look at one of those bigger flood after u killed it. Its got an Elites head if u look its just like twisted up and layin there. And some of you guys were saying the Covenant activated halo way back when. IT WAS THE FORERUNNERS THIS HAS BEEN DISCUSSED THOROUGHLY. O yea and the Covenant don't know halo will kill them if they set it off only the UNSC, the moniters, and as of now the Elites know that halo is a weapon. Anubis i think you should go over to your xbox and sit there for 8 hours or however long it will take and play thru halo2 and then come back because....come on man you should know this.

I do agree with what you said in some ways, however anubis66 has said that he does not have a huge knowledge of Halo, therefore I for one am willing to answer his questions. If everyone was asking questions like that I'd have a problem, but this is not the case.

Two things are infinite: The universe and human stupidity but I am not so sure about the universe.
