haha yep it was you, well, i just dont think that theory is very realistic, i mean u find the halo for the first time in the game and the book already tells how the spartans were made/enhanced/so-on. im not trying to stomp on your theory, im just trying to debate whether its plausible or not.

besides i like my less popular biblical referance theory. i mean god created the flood to wipe out all humankind... kinda fits... i think? lol and the ark was created to survive from the flood (noahs ark). and "halo" i mean its all biblicly connected.

Earth is no 'other Halo' but i think it could be the Forerunner home planet, but due to a flood outbreak (gravemind) they had to activate the main weapon, Containment (based on earth), wiping out all life in the universe. Thus after thousands of years debris covered all Forerunner technology on Earth, then life started again. Gravemind might have been waiting for Cheif and the Arbiter, in Halo 2 he sais: ''I'VE LISTEND THOURGH ROCK AND METAL AND TIME'' he may have planned everything.
At the end of Halo 2, Cortana, Gravemind, 2401 Penitent Tangent and the Prophet of Mercy are all together, listen closely to Cortana in the trailer, you can make out a few of them, I made out Gravemind, Mercy, Cortana (obviously) but not sure about Penitent Tangent.
Also I think the Covenant ships in the trailer might be trying to stop Truth, because they are flying towords it, but when it opens they fly away (well try to).
And can you see New Mombasa in the background?
Cortana sais ''THIS IS THE WAY THE WORLD ENDS'' did Gravemind tell her this??? Because it may have happened before?
Reach didn't get pwned by Forerunner technology

"This is way the world ends" Can be a reference to reach being glassed. Meaning reach was destroyed before, so the same will happen to earth.

I never said it was. It was done by the Covenant. I'm not sure you understand what I mean. You have already made me unhappy by pming me about the comment I made about the trailer possibly being on reach. I then responded in here that I knew it wasnt on reach because Bungie said. Also it is pretty obvious because of the fact that the fallen Teather is in the background.
I then pm'ed you back (this is against forum rules i know because pm's are just for non-forum comments.) The convo went like this:

Speaking of dark Halo 3 is supposed to have a much darker feel to it. What do you think will make it so dark?

ok, it cant be on reach cuz most of the planet was glassed, but they left the mountain area ok cuz of the artifact in it. so one. it cant be on reach, 2. on bungie they specificly said that master cheif was going back to earth and all. so fuck you noobs. me out of here

Bungie should let us be different characters in multiplayer like marines, brutes stuff like that. But when it comes out i will cream myself.
And were about's in the game is that trailer set?

if it's one third through the game that thing can't be a weapon then, chief will be dead, or maybe he's supposed to die because another SPARTAN comes from Dr. Catherine Halsey (if she still alive) from the story below

I just got a crazy idea: If the thing on earth, the 'Ark', isn't a weapon it could be a shield to protect earth from halo's destructive force, this may be why Earth, Reach and Humanity is so important to the covanant.

I was actually thinking the same thing yesterday. The reason being is that the things on the outside are yet to reveal their usefulness. However the pulse generators on the inside have the use of causing the explosion. Therefore (us your imagination) if the ones on the outside emit a ball of some type they would encompass the entire earth or that particular halo.
i was going to say it earlier but it is pretty hard to explain. I was going to make a gif animation to post here but in not sure if ill bother now.

The whole Biblical aspect makes a lot of sence too. I am impressed that someone else thought that. As for me, I read the bible every night and yeah, the first time I played halo I had a diff story growing in my mind lol and My Gamertag is Noah***,
The covanant have all their vehicles named after mythical creatures
(Ghost, Wraith, Banshee *I forget that other useless vehicle in Halo2)
And the humans have it names as Earthen Creatures (Scorpion, Warthog, Pelican)
And the Flood have the biblical sense thing going on...
There is quite a lot to think about this time around for the last game.

as far as im concerned the arc could be one of two things,
the arc of the covanent: BAD THING
when you see it you disintergrate (remember indianna jones)
noahs arc: GOOD THING
protects us from the flood (as i said before)
both idea kinda fit haha so the story could go either way (if the story even has biblical ties)

sorry off-topic but:
i hope with the new writers there will be more news, because this site has been lacking it lately, with one new thing every day or two. it used to be like 2-3 new news articles a day.
you know, wondering and thinking about halo 3 wont make it come faster or wont make anyone corrent before its release, so if this game wont be out for quite some time, then forget about it and let time takes its course and u'll see the game alot sooner (it will seem so mentally).
also, why doesnt anyone take these good ideas like the 'arc of the covenant' and email them to bungie every week till you get a reply. its how you make things change. i was able to get something from ut2004 done differently. halo 3 will be out, and it will be how it is. the story will be no different no matter how much we ponder it. so come up with theories and submit them, god knows they need some creativity after halo 2 :P
But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

i agree, i believe if forget about halo 3 for a while then you will be playin the game lot sooner than u think, cause i totaly forgot about xbox360 since e3 last year and omg its like rite here and im playin it at mi friends place so ya forget about it then you will play it, and it releieves your mental depression of "WHEN ARE THEY GONNA RRELEASE IT < WHEN! WHEN! WHEN!"
