Can someone confirm that you can use Shrink alone to do the movie only?

Shrink will not recognize that movie.

I did it this morning, having AnyDVD activated in the background. DVD Shrink would not open the files when I ripped it with both dvdfab decrypter and dvdfabdecrypter express.

I then did entire process with dvdfab decrypter express and turned out great.AnyDVD was also running in the background. There is a free trial of dvdfab decrypter express and costs $40 to purchase.

I had the same trouble the first time I tried to make a backup copy of Bewitched. I rebooted and blew out my dvd writer, then DVD Decrypter worked just fine.

no ofcense but you are 100% wrong. what yo mean is AnyDVD is creating a problem.

again, DVD Shrink alone has NO trouble with this film when simply reauthorign and burning.

there is a threads on this in several furms. you are confusing an AnyDVD problem with shrink.

open in DVD Shrink without any dvd running. reautor, drag the main title over and bunr. no compression is needed (film is 3.793 with all streams and subs).

afterdawn seems to always be recommending any dvd which not a free program and which is never needed. I have never had AnyDVD and there is not one disk I cannnot rip and burn with free programs.

dvd shrink will esily do 90% of current dvds. DVD Decrypter will do 99% and dvdfabdecrypter is useful for the remaining 1%. all of these are free, easy to use and don't interfere with each other as AnyDVD does.

again, you did not try and do this with dvdshrink alone which WORKS. you tried to do it with AnyDVD.

I tried it with Shrink and it will not do it, neither does DVD Decrypter if you got it to work with Shrink alone then you are very lucky.

sorry you are wrong if you are talking about DVD Shrink alone. your problem is any dvd. this has now happened with several disk with any dvd.

everyone who doesn't use any dvd and only used dvdshrink and just reauthroed has not had any problem.

if you deinstall AnyDVD you would not have had a problem.

check the dvdshrink forums. users there are reporting problems with dvddecrypter and AnyDVD, but NO problems using only dvdshrink

Ok now I know I'm not the only one that had problems backing up Bewitched, but please read below and tell me if any one else is having problems just playing the original movie on a computer, is that part of the new protection as well?
Has anyone tried to back up Bewitched yet? If so what program worked for you? I've tried DVD X COPY Platinum(Original 321 Studios), Nero, ICOPYDVDS2, and CloneDVD. I have the lastest version of DVD43, DVD Shrink, DVD Ghost. On top of everything else the original movie won't play on any of my computers, 2 desktops and 1 laptop. (It will play the previews but when you get to the main menu, play, special futures, set up, etc. and click on play you get all of the warnings, etc. and then the screen just stays black/blue. All different brands with different drives including 2 external drives for a total of 8 drives. I used Power DVD, WMP, and Win DVD. It does obviously play on my true DVD player. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. With all of the different options I've tried with no luck I'm wondering if they have finally beaten us.
Thanks to all, I just signed up and am looking forward to a miracle................

Try the free version of DVD Fab Decrypter available at http://www.filepedia.com look under rippers to rip it to your hard drive and then open with it with Shrink or if you have Nero use Recode that also worked for me. Of try the trial of AnyDVD which will run in the background and break the encryption. You can get the latest ver. at http://www.slysoft.com and for the beta update see my above post to get that. I used Xcopy Platinum (not the old 321)with AnyDVD in the background and it did the movie. But doing the entire movie worked out the best. The blank pause is right at the beginning of the movie and by doing movie only you get it and it will pause your player.

When will it end!!!! It's the same questions being asked and the same answers being given. I wanted the whole movie to fit on one DVD 5 disc so I used AnyDVD and DVD Decrypter to rip it and DVD Shrink to shrink it with no problems at all. One thing I did when I used Decrypter is rip the movie in file mode. That was the only option that actually made it rip 100%. Good Luck :[

Common answer to ripping problems: Use DVD Decrypter first!

Okay,

I had the same issue too. DVD Shrink said something "un-recognized dvd structure", and DVD Decrypter spent too much time trying to input blank data.
So, I used another program that I just happened to download, but can't recall which forum that introduced it to me. The program is Shrinkto5. It's a rather nifty program, I must say, why? Because it copied Bewitched with no issues whatsoever.
I told it just to copy the "main movie", leaving out all of the trailors. Once it created the video_ts files under the "bewitched" folder I created, I used Clone DVD to burn the files. DVD Shrink, using the "open files" option, still wouldn't recognize it. Clone DVD successfully created the dvd, and it played back superbly in my computer's dvd drive, Xbox, PS2, and both of my Apex dvd players.
In order to "make a copy from the copy", one can just use DVD Decryptor to create the image from the burned disc, and reburn the image. BTW, the quality of the movie created with Shrinkto5 is just as good as DVD Shrink. I did fast forward it to ensure that the entire movie was captured. If there happens to be any visual drawbacks (maybe a block here or there), who cares, I only had to use this program for this one particular movie. On my 55 inch tv, the movie looked just as good as the original.

Glad to be of help,

I have to agree with S2K here. I was able to do it with shrink alone. No problems at all. Plays fine. I also tried it with DVD Decrypter and then shrink and still had NO problems.

the problem with these new protections (in my opinion) is that they're having an unexpected side effect of giving us real hell that even proven programs/workarounds are giving intermittent results. For instance i tried to do Kung Fu Hustle which as far as i can remember can be done with just DvD Decrypter, 8 attempts later (i don't have AnyDVD) i got the movie off the disc and just out of frustration i burnt it to a blank disc. I deliberately ignored the warning about the files being non-compliant as i'd wasted the whole evening getting this far and was not amused at the different results i was getting. i also had the 'out of Memory' error in Shrink.

The nearest i got with just Shrink was to reauthor, pick movie only, then it would start, then fail shortly after with 'out of memory error'. (i think i also got the 'invalid navigation structure' error too). DVD Decrypter was able to grab all files to hard disc, but vobblanker wouldn't work (can't remember the error i kept getting). In fact the problem i have now is i can't remember exactly how i copied the movie in the end. I played the movie afterwards, because i ignored the compliance errors, the movie starts about 20seconds from start of disc each time. no problem, i just rewound to beginning and watched film thru all way to end (fantastic movie btw).

Anyway, not meaning to go offtopic by talking about a different film, but as far as i know, Bewitched is using arccos protection or a new strain of it (i call them strains, as they're like bloody viruses!). The point of my reply is that these new 'strains' of protections are giving the movie studios a bonus at the moment as there are inconsistent results/workarounds. A lot of this is i think to blame for ppl having to return discs to stores as faulty (ie they get crc errors on a brand new disc).

Hope all of that made sense

I didn't read every post (or even more than the first couple), but just watched my backed up copy of Bewitched last night (including all bonus features) without any problems. I used DVD Fab (with AnyDVD running) DVD Shrink to compress and DVD Decrypter to burn. The medium was Verbatum LS DVD.
