what the heck is zoneloader? is it newer version of cdloader that works on v7 or above or something?

more of double protected game that won't work on v7.

soul calibur 2 import(not sure it won't work when it comes out on US this august but i am pretty sure it will be double protected too)

Zoneloader is the new boot disc that is supposed to replace the swap magic discs. It's supposed to be really powerful and be able to play games that require the cdloader like Splinter Cell. This is very good for version 7 users cause the cdloader isn't compatible with version 7 in which Zoneloader is. It's basically a bootdisc that combines the power of the swap magic and cdloader and is compatible with all versions even version 7. It's also thought to be able to boot dvd rips.

is a flip-top cover hard to install?? i mean is it very likely to pinch the eject/restart ribbon. I've looked at the install pictures and it looks fairly easy i just want some one who has installed it and knows. also about what kind of cd-r i should get to burn the games on.

I see quite a few people in this thread use Nero.

What version is everyone using?

See any need to purchase version 6?

southpark you don't have to worry to much about pinching the cable just be real causious when you put it back on and maybe use a peice of tape to hold it in place while putting it back on. As for what type of cd-r, I usually use a Maxell 650mb cd-r.

in my opinion i say slide card is the better way out because you don't have to void your warranty and you can use your homemade supplies to do it.

yeah it's definately the cheapest way to go but the playstation warranty is only 90 days, even the fliptop becomes a pain after a while, but such is the life of the solderless...sigh.

I have seen people go back to the flip top cover after having a slide card. It is simpler to open up
the flip top then it is to slide and open the tray and also looks better then the open front cover. Also you can clean your laser lens without having to take all the screws off of the cover then off of the DVD cover also. Some people don't like yanking the tray open and close as it is not natural and may were out the gears. As for price the Flip Top Cover is only $5 more at www.fliptopcover.com then the places selling the slide card for $9.95. As for the 90 day warranty, if it broke down in less then 3 months I would not want a Sony product again. There warranties suck. I had a top of the line VCR and it broke down just after the warranty ran out. Cost me a arm and a leg to fix it. But if you make one youself because you can't aford the $30.95 for a combo deal, thats like getting the flip top cover for $12.95, $3 more then a slide card, then what is a poor boy to do but make a homemade swip card. You don't get the neet DVD case to hold it in but wait about a month and AOL will send you yet your 10th free DVD case and 10 more costers or frisbies, whatever you use them for. I have not missed yet throwing them in the trash, hehehe. Next few weeks www.fliptopcover.com will probabaly be giving a 2 disc DVD case for the Swap Magic Disc's with printed instructions for flip top cover and slide card with a free generic slide card for $19.95. Then everbody can start out cheep until they get the $14.95 for the flip top cover.

I heard so many people say Neor Burner was good but I have been using Prassi PrimoDVD 2.0 and have burned over 200 games without a flaw. I have mostly used the PrimeDisc 1X Double Sided 240min/9.4 GB disc's as I put a game on each side so that my 100 Disc Remote controlled DVD/CD Libarary can hold up to 200 so I don't take up so much room on the Table I have my 2 PlayStations on. I have also used some Silver 2X generic DVD-R's without problems. I had a Pioneer AO4 2X then upgraded to a Pioneer A05 4X and it may also be the drive I am using that gave me such luck. You can get the AO4 now for $129 clearance price at http://www.meritline.com/clearance.html

I think they are out of stock right now but they have the Pioneer 105 4X for $175 now that they came out with the Pioneer A06, that is still 4X but it also burns DVD+R for authoring. Unless you plan on doing any Authoring then you should just get the Pioneer 105 for $175 or wait for the AO4 to become available again, if they do as $129 is realy cheap and you will most likely want to just buy the cheap 1X and 2X DVD-R's anyways. I have yet to splearge and buy any 4X yet for my AO5. It helps to have a fast computer also. A lot of people have problems burning disc's because they don't realize there computer is not fast enough so they don't have buffer underruns. Buffer underruns and track seak errors are the most common. What speed is your computer?
