Can anyone tell me how to back up Playstation ( not PS2 ) games ? I have Nero but it tells me to insert the original into the source drive and then ejects the original which is already in the source drive. ? :P

there's mixed feeling on slide card vs. fliptop. i personally think you run more of a risk damaging the track track and mechanizm with the slide card, but lots of people love them. it really depends on personal choice i think.

Im just wondering if anyone that has a flip top has noticed that the power/eject button is a little loose since installing the flip top? Mine is fully functional but not as snug like the original cover
Also, I was interested to get one of those flip top bottoms, I was wondering if anyone has got one yet and if it is as easy as the top to install?

Check the plastic box the cable is in for the Eject/Reset buttons and make sure it is clipped in right. There is a screw hole that Sony created but does not seem to use for some reason. If you can find a small screw to fit in it, screw it on then it can not pop out on your. There are no threads so you have to use a screw like the ones for screwing in the cover. A wood screw has that type of cutting thread, kind of like a cork screw wind bottle opener type shape of thread. Also there is a rectangle opening that you can put the cable through instead of having it come out the bottom of the plastic eject/reset box. Looks like sonny made that, for that reason and once again did not use it for some odd reason because it is perfect and probably better as you are not squishing it with having the box on top of it like that. That is the way I did mine but I did not use a screw as it seems to stay in just fine if you snap it in correctly. Sometimes a bit tricky, you have to make sure the little pin fits in the hole of the box and then snap it in when it is lined up right.
They do make a bottom cover but I asked my Brother in law about painting mine because he owns a Body Shop for painting cars. He told me I may be able to use that paint they use for Model Cars from the hobby shops but he did state that Lacquer would work best and to put one coat and if needed 2 coats. Just let it dry then see if it peals off with your fingernail or a coin or something. I orderd some cool colers in Lacquer to see if it works.

The dimensions of the flip top cover are the same as the cover of the regular ps2... just maybe like a fraction of an inch larger due to the flip top. If you get black it's hard to even notice you have a different top from a distance. Also if you want your ps2 painted try checking around with local game shops... not the big chain ones like Blockbuster or EB or GameStop. My local one will paint any system and they even try to do a silver gloss color but it turns out pretty bad because it almost sheds it's shine...

5 1/8th inch acrossed at the widest point (and the radius of the circle) - the tabs that are front and back are 4 5/8th inch wide - the back hinge starts 1 1/16th from the back of the cover - and the outer radius of the circle is 7/8th's from the cover's right edge. if you cant make sense of that PM me and i'll take a pic and add dimensions to it.

this is the only site that I have seen so far that sells the bottoms, but I did not purchase my top from them so I don't know how reliable they are http://www.ps2fliptop.net/index.htm
Has anyone backed up tiger woods 2k4? for some reason when I play mine, all of the intros, like the EA Sports intro and all of the Course introductions get cut off without me pressing any buttoms. it doesn't effect my game play, but its strange. Does anyone else have this problems?

Has anyone else had problems backing up Def Jam Vendetta . I am using TDK 2X dvd-r's and so far I have created two really sexy looking coasters. I boot up the DVD SMD and when I insert the backup and press start the screen switches to the black loading screen and stays there. I tried burning with Nero and then I tried DVD Decrypter. Coasters both times. The worst part is I don't drink so I don't have any need for these cool coasters. :(

www.fliptopcover.com - Saveware is going to have the bottom covers now and soon will have the top covers with a see through lid so you can see if the disc is rotating or not. It will also then have the same color for the Reset/Eject bottons and the DVD tray. Then they will have a new version for PS2 9 as the 4/5/6/7/8 ones will not work with 9 and had to be modified. Then their are plans for clear transparent and transparent colors.

PLEASE HELP:
Whenever I put a cd game into my ps2, i can hear some strange frikin sounds like "rubbing" for like 3 or 4 seconds right after the tray closes AND then everytime it loads. Now, when I take that little white thing out of the lid and put it on the disk myself, everything works fine.
It happens with the following games:
wild arms 3 demo (blue)
socom 2 demo (blue)
virtua fighter (blue)
some music cd's
they still do load & play fine but... what the hell? whenever i open the lid after booting one of those, there's a little bit of PAINT on that white magnet piece... ???
Rest works fine:
dark cloud 2 (blue)
gs (blue)
swap magic cd
music cd's
ps1 games
Here's the reply i got at another forum:
Quote: this is only a guess, but it sounds like the lid is either closing too low which would mean some kind of flaw in the cover itself, or you just didn't put it on flush or something. so that it may be closing at more of an angle rather than it lining up correctly with the cd spindle thing that the white magnetic piece locks on to.
I've personally never had a problem so my only advice to you would be to check and recheck your install and make sure nothing is forced or blocking any part of the cover assembly. mine fit perfectly tight.
good luck
What the fück? Anyone have something to add to this? I would really appreciate.
Don't tell me i have to uninstall this sh!t and install it again... !?
PEACE. LATER.

Have you checked that the "little white thing" magnet is in the right way, maybe its upside down
the rounded side of the "little white thing " should be facing down.
good luck
