dood kookoo.. of all people i though you would realize how much the nvidea geforce cards pwn there ati counterpart. my friend has an ati 9200 and my gfx 5200 barely comes behind it. his card is newer and with more mb.
But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

No, this card pwns the geforce 6200. And for 69$ canadian. Its a great deal. Regular its like 130$. You do not want to have this argument with me.

dude scene as were back to buddies again (yay) i can tell you that quite frankly the memory architecture isnt greatly important, yes its a nice thing to have 64 bit but it doesnt improve performance, it just increases efficiency (a LOT) and enables the card to have HDR with AA and it work properly (with minimal performance hit, although there is still a fps drop, but the graphics look G_R_E_A_T, thats why the 360 Xenon NEEDS the eDRAM, for the AA (adaptive also) samples, to lower the performance hit, for when HDR is used in a game. Plus less than half of current next gen games use HDR, (as they look GREAT without it even), its just a tasty bonus for the ones that do. (do you now under stand why the eDRAM is there, its to minimise the fps drop when HDR and adaptive AA 4x are enabled at the same time (for HDR games).
RSX will just have HDR enabled with no AA (and no adaptive AA for non-HDR games, but 4x MSAA is still good), BUT* at 720p the natural aliasing (jaggies) is by default *quite low* so its not that bad. because of eDRAM the performance of Xenon with HDR and Adaptive AA, will be about the same performance wise (FPS) as the RSX wioth HDR enabled but with no AA.
now u see why the eDRAM is there with 256gb bandwith, its DEAD FAST for specifically that purpose, but not much else. (in non-HDR games the 4xAA will have practically to performance hit),in HDR games the AA will still have very low performance hit, BUT the HDR will. (for both Xenon and RSX), but luckily both cards are so bloody fast the framerate will still be rock high, so we can enjoy awe inspiring graphics at high framerates, LOOKING GOOD FOR BOTH CARDS.
and yes i was very LUCKY!, lol
360 is good fun. but hard drives are very hard to come by in the shops. im gonna order online today.
Don't judge the consoles by specs, more isnt always better, espec in PS3 specs.i know the truth, ask if u wanna know.......

Truthman, do you want to know another reason why they cant be in the 32bit-64bit memory architecture range? Because if it was 64bit, its bandwith woulod be between 3-10gbs. Trust me my new video card is 64bit and its bandwith is 6-10gb bandwith. because sony hasnt confirmed what memory architecture, i predict that the ps3 will be 256bit memory architecture(Which would explain its high bandwith. Trust me on this one, if it were 32bit architecture, its bandwith would be like 1gb/s. WHICH obviosly it's not.
Moving on to the 360 memory. I think its only Unified architecture. Not 64bit unified. That would mean like it has 2 architectures. Being unified would explain the shared mmory, and the ability to have he edram perform(store...dont want to argue that, you can say store, ill say perform.) ....perform the Aa, while xenos doing the HDR.
Now for the ps3 hdr and aa enabled. It was a shame that at e3 didnt conferm that it can. With the rsx's high bandwith. Part of its bandwith **can** be used for one spe to render the adaptive AA. Game developers have the choice of doing this. So it is 100% possible that the ps3 can render both hdr and aa. Just like ps2 did.
But with both consos, having AA and HDR rendering at the same time will drop both consols in performance. Which is why game developers avoid both of them rendering at the same time. I'm still sticking with ps3>360 graphics.
Lets give it a rest, and w8 till sony CES tells us the truth about it all.

kookoo the confusion has crept in again. you dont quite know what i mean. i dont mean 'bit' bit (e.g 64 bit graphics etc), i mean bit. (*like* a 64 bit AMD processor, compared to a 32 bit intel processor).
yes i see what you meant, refering to 'bit' bits NO WAY are each card 64, waYY too low. (just the architecture, not the actual plysical memory). the architecture is 64 bit (not the smaller bit referanced people used for the old consoles, 128 bit graphics etc, is a well outdated saying).
bandwith is nearly ALL affected by the physical memory (size) and its speed, NOT ITS architecture, not at all. the only cards that have the 64 bit architecture are the X1000 series (X1800XT PE, X1800XT, X1800XL, X1600 etc, u get it) AND the XENON 360 card.
so then the nvidia card wil NOT have have a 256 bit architecturee because of the reason explained above, and primarily because that is simply not feasible with todays technology, its impossible to get that. even 128 architecture is not reachable yet, (some years for that yet), 64 bit ones HAVE ONLY JUST COME OUT. (ATI only at the min).
BUT as i said in my previous post its not that great of an advantage (just a small one, the main benefit is HDR with AA).
*IF* RSX does have one, it wont have the eDRAM with it so the AA will have a large performance hit as well as the HDR effects, (so it wont fun as fast, lower FPS). its bad yes but still the framerate shold be good even with the hit on it.
memory wise, being unified, and shared arnt the same thing (although from a first glance i too would have assumed that that is what it meant, but its not, and im not getting into detail on this one, cant be arsed to type any more in this post. lol) ill just finish up.
PS2 could NEVER EVER render AA properly OR render HDR, never mind both of them together (the card in it is WAY too old, it physically CANT do it). no game EVER had been made for PS2 with HDR, or with AA (no xbox games have either, so no gain/loss for either of us there).
the PS3 can have AA, and can have HDR, but just not together. plus Nvidia dont have/use adaptive, that is exclusive to ATI only, Nvidia have a lesser quality but still better than multisample (MS) AA called transparency AA, transparency is just same as MSAA but bit better quality. Adaptive AA is bit better quality AA, BUT it has samples on nearly everything that MSAA misses, mainly small things and thin things, like basket cases, poles, string etc. so everything looks smooth with no jaggies.
but still you will hardly notice any difference between MSAA and Adaptive/transparency AA.
i too want to see what sony says, but kookoo, i like sony too but they *have* overpromised on most of there products they released. They said PS2 could do things, like what the PS3 can do in. I remember that crystal clear (A SERIOUS OVER PROMISE, but it still did well), plus at E3 and at other shows sony ALWAYS USED pre-rendered videos, the ingame graphics wil look NOTHING like that, maybe PS4 will. microsoft used some too, but with some they didjt need to, like gears of war, they WERE ingame graphics, and they kicked the hell out of any other game for proper graphics (ingame graphics are the proper graphics, not pre-rendered ones - aka.fake graphics).
both consoles WILL suffer a performance drop with HDR and AA, (360 less of a drop because of eDRAM, apart from that eDRAM does F-ALL, so when people claim that eDRAM does something else (or its main job is something different) then there talking bullsh*t). but the performance drop on even the PS3 wont be that bad, the framerates will still be high on both because there really powerful.
i know, heres a good idea, U SAY 10 things the 360 has got better than the PS3, and ill say 10 things the PS3 has got better than the 360. just to be certain we know others complexity, and points of why they like that console more.
PS3
1) 7 USB ports (although i think it only needs 4 at max)
2) Good aesthetical design
3) 1080P (although they are RARE, and VERYYY expensive)
4) the HD IP camera (like a new better eye-toy)
5) full backwards compatibility (360 needs harddrive and emulation software for each game of xbox live)
6) blu-ray (although very expensive, its better overall)
7) dual screen support (although if you do this the framerate will SUCK ASS, especially if at 1080I/P).
8) Better overall (life-span wise) for RPG's, will have more in the end, but not at the beginning, cos 360 got final fantasy 11 or someat and more, but not too sure.
9) ethernet support when bought (dont have to get seperately)
10) Cell is bloody brilliant at decoding the information read by the blu-ray drive from the disk (decreasing level loading times), and at rendering data when levels are changing (decreasing level loading times further) (DVD playback will be faster responsive wise, and levels load faster on games (only levels load faster + dvd's, nothing else).
there, your turn now, name 10 things 360 has got better than PS3.
Don't judge the consoles by specs, more isnt always better, espec in PS3 specs.i know the truth, ask if u wanna know.......

At first weren't you all about Xbox 360? Now you are PS3?
Fanboy is a term used to describe someone who is utterly devoted to a single subject. This generally is followed by the devotion and support even when proved wrong.
Anecdotal, by my definition, it's the way too many people here think. It's also all the evidence you have.

Ahh truthman.
I ddint say that the RSX can perform the AA and the HDR. I said The Cell processor would render the AA, while the RSX does the HDR. The ps3 therefore has the ability to do HDR+AA. The problem with the geforce 7800 was that it can do eith AA or HDR correct? The AMD or Intell couldnt render the AA or HDR, therefore lots of critisim for the 7800. I'm curios, do you know that game developers can use 3/7 SPE's for graphics? Why you think the ps3 cpu memory runs at 3.2ghz? The problem with 360's memory is that its unified. Therefore, it also has to share the bandwith. PS3 doesnt have to do taht, easily part of that bandwith can do the AA, and the bandwith will still be real
high.
N e ways truthman, im pretty sure you are goign to say that the ps3 wont be able to do this. Lol, its going to go back and forth.
10thumbs up for the 360.
1)Nice sleek design, better tahn the ps3.
2)Great lineup of games such as gears of war ect
3)More friendly with the japanees, 360 will get more rpg's than the xbox. A big improvment.
4)Kickass First person shooters.
5)Halo3
6)Great online play.
7)Well engeniered GPU and CPU. State of the art technology.
8)User friendly.
9)Amazing media functions, and great features.
10)Currently beats the PC, and will truely be part of the future of gaming. (not saying that ps3 wont either.)
Lets see what Sony CES will have to say now.
Truthman, may i remind you, ps3 probably has *****6******* USb ports, because it can have 7 controllers. Yea you can see where im heading cant you?
A little comment about why i think those werent prerendered games. Do you not see that some pc games look better than 360 and ps3 games? I'm pretty sure that even teh geforce 6600 can render some of these games. mabey even make them look better.
PS:who likes my sig?!> lol

nice sig.
reasons im not a PS3 fanboy, i just wanted each of us to say good things about the other console (what it actually does and has) so we each know why we are arguing for our fav console. i still like 360 mroe but PS3 looks to be awsome also. both are deep into next generation, especially when games are multi-threaded, (when physics will be far enchanced, the performance (framerate will be MUCH higher, and because all 3 cores are working, the bottleneck on the GPU will be gone as all 3 cores can tell the AWSOMELY fast card (360's Xenon and RSX) what to do. (curently the GPU is so fast it is bottlenecked by the CPU, even the VERY BEST 7th Gen pc cards are bottlenecked by even the AMD FX-57, because they are so fast (7th gen is X1800XT, 7800GTX etc)the console cards are 8th Gen one above the new PC cards, so the bottleneck is even bigger, thats why threaded games are dearly wanted.
the graphics can be enchanced by a LOT especially the games physics (which the processors handle) and its framerate will be much higher than previous single threaded games. dat is GOOOOT YA! (like my accent, lol, in english english that's spelt "that is good yes!" - lol just a bit of fun there).
about the AA thing. processors cannot handle the AA samples, although if they could it would be LOVELY for when games are multithreaded, with a dual/triple core PC/console. but they cant, (i wish they could kookoo). :-(
that is all the GPU also, like anisotropic filtering, also just GPU. luckily the Xenon had eDRAm to help with AA, but both PS3 and 360 have no shield against HDR, but it wills till run great.
im in a GOOD mood today, have been all week, because christmas has gone and its the new year this weekend, YAY! (this means i really am not in the mood to argue, although only 1 part of what you said was wrong, the processor with AA thing, although i wish they could do :-( as ive already said)
happy new year dude (a little early but all the same, hehe).
final point, the 6600 could render those games, but the framerate would be like 2 FPS, lol, thats bad omen. its about quality at playable framerates. And those videos were pre-rendered, trust me, but most not to the standard killzone was, that was the most pre-rendered video EVER, i read somewhere that after E3 sony were busted for using heavily pre-rendered videos for all of their games that they showed. not one ingame showing, all fake graphics. only the PS4 could power the graphics for ibgame that they showed. (those graphics would be great, but its just not gonna happen kookoo, we can see through the lies at that point, but some people cant, the unlucy ones.)
Don't judge the consoles by specs, more isnt always better, espec in PS3 specs.i know the truth, ask if u wanna know.......

Ahh truthman, lets give it a rest and wait untill what Sony CES has to give us. Heck, were like killing eachother. The cell is new technology, that no one but sony&Ibm knows what the cell is capable of. So lets w8 to see what ces has to give us. They got a 12000sq ft stadium just to show off the ps3. Sony is obviosly goign to reviel everything about the ps3. So lets just give it a rest. (still sticking that the SPE\cell can also rend the AA.) Anyways, dont get hyped up with the threads, it will take arround 4-5 years untill they actually use all threads.
Quote: the 6600 could render those games, but the framerate would be like 2 FPS,
Dont be so sure, my friend got a geforce 6200 and can render guild wars pretty good.
C yea, im not in the mood to argue either.

kookoo alot of the things you said about the 360 are opinion based. most of the ps3 ones are not.
But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

1, 2, 4, 5, 8, 10.
1 cause looks are what you think, i personally like the ps3 design more.
2 cause not everybody thinks the line up is great. some are fun but some arnt anything special.
4 cause they arnt all that great. call of duty 2 is ok, but some people may not think some of the fps are great.
5 cause halo 3 has no detail released on it. you cant use that as an example. plus some people dont like halo. its all right but not as great as some people say..
8 cause its easy for you, my friend had some problems figuring it out.
10 cause my friends pc plays 360 games. he emulates them with his 6800gt and his amd 64. they run great on full aa. there are pc's out there that can run 360 games. sure the 360 is cheaper than them, but this statement is a lie.

3 cause again its your thought. tho i think it too.
7 cause would they really release it with two outputs if it would sacrifice alot of performance. its probably the same signal on both so you can 2 player with 2 screens so no screen cheating.
9 is just wrong. the 360 comes with ethernet, but it does not come wi-fi compatable out of the box, you have to buy an expensive adapter. ps3 does however come wi-fi out of the box.

Being a bit biased?
Quote: cause not everybody thinks the line up is great. some are fun but some arnt anything special.
The lineup of games are still great. Why would you argue this?
Quote: cause they arnt all that great. call of duty 2 is ok, but some people may not think some of the fps are great.
Trust me their great, you've probably never played any of them. Xbox will always have great FPS's. Without them, xbox will be nothing. Well not nothing but..you know. Its liike playstation without the rpg's.
Quote: 5 cause halo 3 has no detail released on it. you cant use that as an example. plus some people dont like halo. its all right but not as great as some people say..
Its HALO, its a series. Just as you would say ooo lookie final fantasy and killzone for ps3.....Some people dont like them, but its halo, 1# game on xbox. Dont know why you would debate this.
Quote: 8 cause its easy for you, my friend had some problems figuring it out.
?, its probably going to be more userfriendly than the ps3. Knowing that windows OS is way easier to install, than linux. Linux you would have to do it verry small steps at a time.

HAHAHAHAH, HAHAHAAHHAH.....HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Aniubus never ever say somthing like that again.

No, knowing that truthman owns the freaking thing, he would know. Sony didnt confirm this yett......!?
Truthman, Which do you think is better the radeon 9600se or the geforce mx 6200? What really irritates me is that besbuy never inluded that the 9600se has 3.2gb\s bandwith. WHICH REALLY SUCKS. While the 6200 is 8-10gb? Correct? I dont know....9600 has the better fillrate.....AAHHHH....but then
its low bandwith doesnt let the 9600 use most of its bandwith.....I dont know you tell me truthman. The 9600se doesnt work that much better than my intergrated one. Heck it only added 10fps.
If i dont get your answer by today....il just stick to this.

anubis you have just prooved how much of a PS3 fanboy you are.
Kookoo is not biased and has proven that on more than one occasion, but you anubis are most definatly biased and truely have only PS3 on your mind.
Anything anyone says good on the 360 you imediatly put down, but if someone puts one word against PS3 you attack them with bad counter arguments.
I think kookoo and truthman both bring up very good points and like both console's but prefer one to the other slightly at this moment in time until CES is shown next month.

hmm so much to reply to.
ok ill do it by priority.
kookoo about your card, GO WITH 6200 DEFINATELY. the g-force FX is a generation below the 6000's and the FX geforce's are the same generation as the 9000's, take the 9600 for eg, (ATI cards). (the 9000's were/are FAR better than the FX's even though they are same generation).(the Geforce 4 TI 4600 was better than most 5th gen FX's, and the TI is another generation below them, lol)
fill rate is no way the most important spec either, nor is bandwith (but bandwith is still more important than fillrate).
the main specs you should pay attention with (this guide for PC card buying only, NOT CONSOLES!) is firstly the pipeline's, THEN memory size (128/256. or the new 512 etc) THEN clockspeed, THEN MEMORY frequency, THEN bandwith, THEN shaders, THEN FILLRATE, THEN the features and technologies the card has (e.g. the new X1000's series have AVIVO tech).
about memory architecture - GPU specs NEVER list/state the bit's of the architecture. DONT confuse architecture with MEMOERY INTERFACE, which kookoo did once, yes kookoo the Xenon and RSX both have 256MB interfaces, lol.
my points i said were UNBIASED i just accompanies some side effects with them, they werent against it, they were saying what would actually happen, even in a large dual screen review i read, it said that powering 2 screens at 1080P (for some reason and a lot of $/£) would result in a very poor framerate. (but then again why would you want 2 screens side by side? with mega expensive 1080P screens? - all unbiased).
anubis you didnt pwn kookoo. the 360 games at the min are just standard next gen games, so PC can handle them properly (ish). the thing is, it is the power potential kookoo was talking about, the PC ur mate was on would have been using 100% of its power, and it has a decent framerate, the 360 uses 30% of its power to play current games and they still play faster (higher framerate) than they would on ur mates PC.
kookoo the 6200 could render it (as i said) but he would have had the settings turned right down and besides, guild wars isnt that system intensive, unlike F.E.A.R for example, try to run that, lol. that makes even my card RUN in FEAR, lol, its a X800XT PE overclocked quite a bit (its JUST stable). it has got 550.8 MHZ core speed, 16 pipelines, and 1.16 GHZ memory speed (those are what my card is overclocked to exactly).
thanx zelda, you are 100% correct about anubis. kookoo is a HEAVY PS3 FAN, BUT he is no longer biased like a dog is to meat flavours, unlike you. if EVERYONE can take a look at both perspectives, then decide what they want/like most, then say why etc, then all will be well. i like xbox 360 more because i think it looks cooler, its got xbox live which i LOVE because i ADORE halo online, i can use xbox live to play old xbox games (with emulation software off of it), its got more games of my favourite genre (FPS's), my second fav genre is real time strategy, then select RPS (e.g. KOTOR 1 and 2 - awsome RPG's). thats my reasons. and i am certainly not in a mood to argue over power etc, in fact i cant even be bothered about that anymore, whether the PS3 is more poeerful or not, both systems ARE VERY VERY POWERFUL, and will rip through all the best games (and the worst, :-( e.g. Kameo for xbox 360, what a sh*t game lol - in my opinion).
i think ive covered most of the points, but knowing me i probably missed half of them, hehe.
Don't judge the consoles by specs, more isnt always better, espec in PS3 specs.i know the truth, ask if u wanna know.......

hey i downed the ps3 up there as much as the 360, i was trying to ring down opinions being stated as facts.
But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

Alright thanks truthman...One thing still bothers me....You said
Quote: this guide for PC card buying only, NOT CONSOLES!) is firstly the pipeline's, THEN memory size (128/256. or the new 512 etc) THEN clockspeed, THEN MEMORY frequency
Ok look bestbuy is having this like boxing weak sale...And they are selling all three of these cards for 49.99(after mail in rebates). And these three cards are all geforce. One is not a choice for me because its a PCI. But then i ahve to choose between the GeForce FX 5500, and the geforce mx 6200.
here are the cards
http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?sku_id=0926INGFS1006... fx 5500
http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku... 6200
Now, what throws me off is
one is 256mb, and the 6200 is 128mb. And you said.." is firstly the pipeline's, THEN memory size (128/256. or the new 512 etc) THEN clockspeed,"
And the memory size came to be the 2nd most important. I dont know about the bandwith..But other than the MB and bandwith(bandwith not sure), the 6200 beats the 5500 in everything else.
But then the FX series is a generation behind the MX. So technically the 6200 should be better. Alright im going to look at more reviews about these cards if I dont get a chance to see your reply. I might just wait untill tomorow to buy the card.
ThaNkz
PS:IM not A heavy Ps3 FAN!(for one thing im surly not heavY) lol i might not even buy the ps3 360 or rev..And just stick to my computer. LOL
But when i first joined AD...i surly was. Remember my like first couple of posts.....? they were like all CAPS and biased, and I got everyone soo mad. LMAO
>_<

lol anubis, LOL kookoo at your first posts and when u first joined.
well thank god u matured.
those things i said in order, well they are FOR COMPARING SAME GENERATION CARDS ONLY. if you are stuck between choosing card from different generations, ALWAYS and i mean ALWAYS go for the one a generation higher, UNLESS you are stuck with buying the flagship of one generation, and the weakest of the generation above (then go with the flagship), that applies to 5gen cards and lower (with the flagship bit), if its 6th gen or more (X800's, 6800's onwards, then go for the generation above) in your case kookoo definately go for the 6200.
if you didnt get any of that explained above (as i did is VERYYY fast), then just ask.
but again, kookoo GET THE 6200 100%.:-), $50 cannadian is VERY VERY cheap i think. thats like £15 over here in england, well cheap, u are getting a real good bargain (bargain = great value/good deal, its a british word, lol)
