DVD Shrink has served me well for some time now. After running into some backup probs with newer releases like Mr.& Mrs. Smith I tried running AnyDVD in the background and was able to use Shrink successfully. My AnyDVD trial period is almost up. Before I purchase AnyDVD I'd welcome any advice as to whether the the combo of AnyDVD and Shrink will serve me well for some time to come. Thanks in advance for any input any/all would care to give!

@Lennme,
AnyDVD is a Godsend and well worth the full price but, I think you can still get a discount by using "Afterdawn" in the discounts box when ordering..
For some time now I have used only AnyDVD/ DVDShrink/ Nero combo to burn all the disks I have coppied and have not ran into a movie yet that it wouldn't handle and I've done All the new ones.
I use DVDShrink/Nero instead of using CloneDVD2 because I just feel more comfortable with it, not because I'm a cheapskate LOL.

AnyDVD is probably the wisest investment on an encryption breaking driver that you will ever make. Go for it. I did and it has never failed on any backup that I have attempted.\

Hey Guys.
Here's a little update for those interested.
I just downloaded DVD43 ver. 3.7.0 This is the first update on it in a long time and I'm curious to see if it will work on the new stuff...
After all it's FREE :p
You can get it here: http://www.filepedia.com/

@9mmruger1,
Yeah I?m real curious as to if it?s gonna work on the new stuff and not conflict with AnyDVD.
I?ll be playing with it for a while and let you know what I run into with it..
If it works out then it would be good for the Noob that don?t won?t to spend money on AnyDVD.

The rebate worked last week for AnyDVD. Just type in "afterdawn' in the coupon spot. Best $29 ever spent. I prefer ripping with decrypter and Nero Recode for the burn.

@garmoon,
I'm Old and Lazy, I don't Rip with Decrypter anymore..
I just let Shrink or Recode do the ripping/shrinking at the same time.
I have 2 drives so it's a one step process...........

I am ripping with DVD43 (3.7.0.113) running behind Nero 7. First try with both on this PC...I'll post the results.

I am using Shrink now but will get ABYDVD shortly. My question is what do I do in order to use AnyDVD with shrink since I believe it runs in the background and you don't have to start the program.
Thanks in advance

There should be a little red fox icon in your tray. When you insert a DVD it will grey out for a sec and then turn red again, now you can use DVD Shrink or Nero because the copy protection has been stripped. Its as simple as that.

I personally give AnyDVD a few seconds to work its magic before opening up shrink. Once the fox has flashed you should be good to go.
Cheers.

Be careful, AnyDVD and DVD43 are known to not play well together.

Another question,
I own dvdxcopy and they no longer supply upgrades or patches, is this a concern with Anydvd?
Don't want to put down 39 (even though not much) and then they no longer have updates.

I have not heard of any conflicts there. Remember to request the AD discount when you order AnyDVD.

as long as you don't have DVD43 set to run on startup and you don't run it before using AnyDVD they won't conflict..It's once you have DVD43 running (even if you exit out during the session) and then go to use AnyDVD that there is a definate confliction (you can see AnyDVD struggling to read the Dvd)
I uninstalled DVD43 anyways after this test for I have no need for it since I have AnyDVD the SUPERIOR Software of the 2

Soccer86 uninstall AnyDVD and install the latest ver of DVD43 and see how that works for you.. For now DVD43 seems to be up to date..
Sometime down the line Afterdawn should have another discount code.

Anydvd is updated on a regular basis (everytime a new protection is discovered) while DVD43 isn't updated nearly as often otherwise they are ran pretty much the same

Thanks to all for the discussion. I took the plunge and purchased AnyDVD. Unfortunately the Afterdawn discount has expired. Still, if it continues to ease the backup process for me as it's done so far I'll consider it a worthwhile investment!
