No is not the back up trying to use it for the toc.
and it gives me the "'error in validating disc'"
got to say the only thing that comes close it the ar disk i leave it in and it dose the pink orange blink but then the cd just keeps spining and reloads ar max! the cd will never stop spining .and its post too! so i can change it . to the backup!just keeps spining spining spining! even when it says to change cd in the softwear of ar max: it keeps spinning there couse of the sencer kit i have in place!
love it ps2 rocks

I read the guide and it seems great
But I need some help
I have a SCPH-70011 Ps2, a ps2 max drive 128 (http://www.mod-chip.com/en/ps2_max_drive_128.php) , a DVD burner and 2 dozen 4.7gb Data ware DVD-R?s and would like to copy Pal(Indian) backups since there all that?s available here to use on a NTSC(Canadian) ps2
Can I manage with what I have?
Can I copy the games so I don?t need to modify my Ps2 to play them?
If not what is the cheapest thing that has good capability that I can get in Canada?
Thanking you

One of your sensors isnt disabled. It's not seeing a ps2 dvd, after you remove the true ps2 dvd, because the sensor is catching the disc leaving the console. Open up your system again, and check the internal sensor.

Great guide guys, weirdly enough i 'stumbled' across this solution while trying to get my backups to work.
Now first thing, i actually run CDLOADER.ELF from a burned CD, NOT from a USB pendrive. Anyone who says this only works with a pendrive, its not true, it works perfectly wen I try it! With this method a game has so far never failed to load! (I burned CDloader.elf onto a cd at 24speed)
Secondly, (incase it hasnt already been said) I always burn my games at HALF the speed of the DVDR, so if its a 16x DVDR, burn at 8x.
If its a 8x DVDR, burn at 4x, it has worked everytime for me, as opposed to wen i tried burning at too fast a speed, the game skips and crashes.
Also, I use DVD-R (not DVD+R) if this helps.
Only thing is, with cdloader.elf on a CD, you have to change the damn disc soo many times to get a backup running, i used to use Swap Magic (until the disc go so scratched it stopped working!), and it was definately quicker and easier.
Just a few notes, im a PAL (UK) user, and have got MTSC games working perfectly fine (Just make sure that the first thing u do when CDloader has loaded is to press the SQUARE button, the screen may go a bit naff for a bit, but once the game loads everything will be fine.)
I use Final Fantasy X-2 as my 'official/original' disc, works everytime. So far Ive got this to work with all PS2 Final Fantasy's, Tekkens, Metal Gears, Shadow of the Colossus, PES5, and so on.

have a problem here. I cannot get the put in disk using EA method prompt. I'm pretty sure I've disabled all of the sensors but will recheck. If they are not disabled will i get this error? thanks!
edit: just tried again. everything seems to work fine but i am still not getting the EA method prompt. I press X and the screen turns red then kicks to invalid disk. What am i missing? thanks again!!!

Has there been a way devised to use this to load DVD-9 media without a MAC system yet? I purchased SwapMagic before learning that it doesn't load dual-layer disc and now I have an .iso of Rouge Galaxy rotting on my HD.

well people, i must say, this is a very good forum, it really helped me alot, Masterchu, you sound like an expert on this topic. Well buddy , i need some help. I live in Durban South Africa, in this country there are no swap magic or armax disc available. the closest i got to a armax disc is a free demo disc which comes together with a ps2 magazine in a book store. Tell me Friend, can i use this demo disc 2 play copied games on my unmodded ps2. I urgently await your reply - Regards _ KZN

MasterChu, thanks for your reply. But, it seems that walmart has quit selling that AR Max, so I bought a Gameshark2 from there. It says it has "USB storage device reader". Would that work or do you know of a way to softmod with the Gameshark2?

Ok, so I went ahead and took the gameshark back, I found the ARMax at Gamestop. Trying to figure out how to get the case off the ps2 now. I got as far as lifting the left side up but the side with the power button doesn't want to come up. Is the power button attached somehow or do I just need to wiggle it a bit? I don't want to break the thing.

Mine did not have a sticker on the bottom. My warranty sticker was on the back. I'm gonna give it a try tonight.

I'm gettin there. Almost got it to work. I think the duct tape came loose on the inside sensor. Probably cheap tape.

What version of ARMax did you guys use to get this to work? I finally got my sensors blocked but when I put in the ARMax cd I saw no media player. I just bought this brand new so I figured it would have it. Guess I shoulda looked at the package closer.

I'm pissed now. Why would a brand new copy of armax not have the media player? Cost me 43 bucks cuz it came with a stupid 16mb usb drive. It has DvdRegionX on it, could I use that somehow? Doubt it, but I don't think I can take this back the store now.
