You really need to do a bit of research. That drive is garbage, anything produced by memorex is crap. Try something like this

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106228

You will have no problems with that.

Lol! Trust me, if you get that Lite On I linked to, you will never have a problem making a working backup.

Is this the one that is in your link.

http://www.compusa.com/products/product_...uct_code=346127

I cant buy from that site and kind of want it soon, so if it is I can probably just go down to the store and get it. I live in Hawaii so the shipping to Hawaii is always excluded or something.

Yeah that will work great, but the price of it is really high! If that is your only option then by all means go ahead and get it, but I would look around a bit before throwing down $60.

No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No!

Memorex uses CMC dye, I would not even let people I hate use that crap. If you are broke, take your chance with Ritek. If you have cash, do yourself a favor and buy Verbatim, it is as good as it gets.

Bottom line, IF IT SAYS MEMOREX DO NOT BUY IT, PERIOD!

oo, Ok. So the Lite on Burner that I had for my link will have no problems right ? With Verbatim Dvd+R DL will be no problem also right ? Just making sure. Thxs for the help. I already wasted 10 Memorex Dvd+R Dl because it failed while burning, but 3 were successful. Do I have to change the Bitsetting to -ROM for the Lite On Burner ? I dont really know what that is but been reading things about it, not to sure how to do it also.

svtstang- i don't mean to speak up to an addict but you realize that the dyes in the cd factories are all most all the same, they just ad a few tweaks for color and strength, i think what matters more is your burner, how well it can control the fluctuation of it's speeds,

oh but i do agree that drive at the top of the forum is a waste,
hitachi, samsung, and maybe lg/sony (maybe) but thats it.

Lol my title means nothing, feel free to say whatever you like!

Media codes do make a giant difference, thus why there are so many threads and sites rating different media. It is absolutely untrue that all dyes are practically the same. It has been proven extensively that CMC dye is poop.

Taken from Digital faq, Memorex and CMC is 3rd class media:

Quote:
3RD CLASS MEDIA:
Quality can be very questionable, about 50-80% success rate. These are discs best suited for small burns (under 2GB of data). Be prepared for failed burns. Also be prepared for various DVD-ROMs and players to not see the disc or freeze up because the player cannot read it very well (not the same as a bad burn). Many of these are known for sham marketing ("archival grade" and whatnot) and can actually cost more than 1ST or 2ND CLASS media.
Read all about media ID's here http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm

Edit

@Lost

Verbatim is solid, as long as your burner is decent you will have no problems. And like I just mentioned, it is expected for Memorex to fail! Bitsetting it not required if you have newer firmware on the xbox, but if you can bit set to dvd-rom why not? And yes, Lite On is capable of bit setting.

i made a thread already but in a desprite attempt to fix my problem im posting here too..

I have the samsung ms28. i successfully flashed my 360 with the ixtrem12 firmware. i downloaded a game and have tryed time and time agian to burn/play it. i havnt been able to get it to work. i tryed with first with normal dvds and then went out and bought verbatims and it still wont work. when i insert a disk it says 'reading' and but never plays. sometimes it will eject it. sometimes it wont. but it never works or plays. ive tryed burning it with both CloneCD and ImgBurn and wasted around 7-10 DVD+R DLs...

ive looked at the iso in mulleter and it seems to be as stable as can be.

i do not however have a pioneer dvr 111 or 111 or that liteon posted above. i have a TS-H652D. could this have anything to do with my problem?

if anyone can help me it would be great. i think im literally going crazy over this madness xD

oo, So is the Pioneer 112D as good as the Lite On one. Because I just bought the Lite On one from the store same as the link one above. I wasnt really paying attention to the SATA and my computer uses only the ATA. So I gotta return that one too -.-. Im probably gonna get the Pioneer 112DBK. That one has the bitsetting to -ROM right ?

Thxs.

I get how to patch and burn the game, but how do you actually play a burned game on the 360? Do you have to do something to the Xbox360? What is the Xtreme Firmware Update? Where can I find such information?
I'm really new to this site and found it on a search through Google.

sorry i also forgot to ask: will the burned games be allowed to play online? like if i downloaded halo3 and burned it, would it still work on xbox live, and if so, would there be any way for the mods to see that i am using a burned copy and then ban me for life?

Does anyone know how to tell if an xbox is pal or ntsc without putting in a disc? Are you able to tell from the serial number or the software the box is running?

Cheers

Ok,..I'm having some problems burning a game, maybe somebody can help me out as to why its not working. I have a Lite-On DVD-RW SOHW-1633S. Ive updated it with the BS0Y firmware. And the Book type is set for DVD-ROM. I bought Verbatim DVD+R DL Discs, and my xbox is flashed. So, at first i tried xbox back-up creator. I burned the game at 2.4X. The result is, I put the disc in the tray and xbox dashboard says "Unreadable Disc". Before i tried this i had the old factory firmware for my drive and was using HP DVD-R DL discs. I burned 1 copy w/ CloneCD. No result. 1 with Xbox backup creator, and 1 with ImgBurn. Still didn't work. I would start the xbox and goto play game and it would act like its going to load but never does, it just acts like its reading the disc and remains at a black screen. 1 copy of the game DID work, but rarely. I would turn on my xbox and either get the result listed earlier or it would boot properly and freeze later on around the same point in the game and gives me a "This disc is unreadable"
Any Ideas?
