With DVDFab Decrypter updating constantly is it really neccessary to buy AnyDVD? I mean really, what is the difference between the two?

AnyDVD is a driver that breaks encryptions and will work behind other programs, such as Nero Recode, DVD Shrink, and CloneDVD2 to name a few. AnyDVD will also rip and repair bad cells on disks. DVDFab is just a ripper, you rip to your HDD and then use the other programs to compress, and you may need VobBlanker to fix those bad cells. No it is not necessary to buy AnyDVD, DVDFab will get the job done. Also another freebie RipIt4Me can be used with the old DVD Decrypter to do all newer encrypted movies. You can read about this program here

The thing about AnyDVD that makes it the best solution around is the fact that Sony is still around. You don't know what they'll put on their discs next. So, Sony could be putting viruses on their DVDs and those who have DVDFab Decrypter will lose the war, and those with AnyDVD can wait until AnyDVD updates with a protection against the virus! It really pays to buy AnyDVD!

Or if you can't buy AnyDVD and are worried about the Sony virus, just disable your autorun in Windows that will stop it.

What I mean by losing the war is the war that is between customers of DVDs and the MPAA. The MPAA is trying to rid the laws that have been with us forever. The MPAA is trying to rewrite the first Constitutional Admendment of free speech (a.k.a. the Internet's providing of decrypting tools). While AnyDVD will forever be updated, DVDFab could sell out any day now.

Why would DVDFab sellout, the developer is from China, Fengtao, I don't think he will do that anytime soon. He has a shedload of programs.

{Sighs}
I meant that IF the RIAA or MPAA decides to sue his ass, then DVDFab Decrypter (the free version) would be gone forever.

Yeah, it can. But, how many other free all-in-one decrypting programs do you know of that update themselves often? Not many. And if DVDFab sells out (I will now use unlikely), then the lazy people who don't won't to pay up or look around for 3 or 4 proggies that do the same thing are screwed.

I won't hold my breathe on DVDFab selling out or being run out of business. It is based in China, a place where piracy is rampant and the laws do little to stop it. DVDXcopy bit it long ago and something came along and replaced it, DVDD got axed but it still limps on with the help of other programs and does a darn good job even so.

soft folks had brains, they'd take Money Orders or checks. But they don't.

Meh, I don't rip anyway, so I don't care.

-Do you believe you own your computer and shouldn't be told what you can run and do? Then say *NO* to Microsoft Vista!
-Since half the questions here involve media problems, here ya go: Only use Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden discs (get your TYs from Rima.com, not Supermediastore or meritline). Forget the rest, no matter what "brand" they sell under. Always burn at 4x speed regardless of the speed rating of this discs or your drive. If you have burn problems with these then you have to update your drive's firmware. For double-layer discs, only use Verbatim DVD+R DL and burn them at 2.4x speed.

I love this proggy. But, you still need 3 extra proggies to fully be able to backup any DVD! And you need to update FixVTS to support newer encryptions (that may not be needed for a while though)! Plus, you need to update RipIt4Me. So that makes two updatable proggies vs. my personal favorite of AnyDVD+DVD Shrink! Two updatable proggies vs. one. You do the math!

Your are 100% right - never update more than 1 program. It will only be very complicated for some users.

The one thing that stands out with AnyDVD is the fact that you don't have to rip the DVD to the hard drive in order to use it... You can just open DVD Shrink , CloneDvd2 or Nero Recode 2 and compress away....

Yep. But, I like to rip to hard drive first (using the built-in decrypter) just to make sure there's no bumps in the road!
