i think i found the numbers. looks to be GD000267
I double checked and it does say TYG01. Is this good or bad?
the package says up to 16*max

That's very good. Taiyo is great stuff!!
Are these the Maxell's or the Memorex?
What has me confused is TY is not a manufacturer to the best of my knoweldge for Memerox but has been for Maxell.
Then the codes from the disc all point to Taiyo made 4x -R media.

thought so, just to let u know memorex is known as Memosux Aviod these at all cost

this is interesting
i opened the 2nd spindle of my maxell DVD-R and checked them.
the manufacturer id= Prodisc F02 and the # on the dvd is PF02-2807-5343
WHATS UP WIT THIS? i got them from the same place at the same time

The difference is one pack was made in Japan (Taiyo) and this pack (prodisc) was made in Taiwan.
What still has me confused is the codes -the ones you listed for the Taiyo - TYG01 and GD code point to 4x Taiyo media.
Not doubting you at all but if you can post a screen shot of the disc info on the Taiyos that would be great. Use this ultility in Nero. ToolKit>CD-DVD Speed>Disc info tab.
editted to add: in this option of Nero you could just copy and paste the text doc (saves from hosting an image & doing a screen pic)

Those prodisc show as a max burn speed of 4x but the media id is 16x. Your drive only burn -R to 8x so I'm kinda confused in why that speed isn't listed.
Did you do the firmware update?
Can you do one of those TYG01 after the firmware update (if not done already)? I'd like to get some better advice on this one.
Not saying you got bad discs by far just need to check some facts w/ are resident TY Expert - docTy (kivory666)
Keep burning them in the mean time -you're looking good from your results so far.

well i did try backing up stuart little 2 on one of Those prodisc and it errored out right away on the burn. go figure first dvd out of the spindle and no go. sigh, i just dont know what to think of now.

i re-did the firmware update again and now it lists 8+
so now i'm going to try to do another burn and see what happens.

Hopefully the firmware update will help the Prodisc. Since it wasn't updated might be why the 1st one you tried to burn failed.
The Taiyo Maxell will do much better for you.

I tried to backup R V using CloneDVD and AnyDVD and all i got was a few titles that ran about 10 minutes. The main title wasn't on the run summery, it defalts to title 22 which has 34 minutes on it. Is this a problem with my software?

Yep just install over your current version and you'll be good.
@gsim
AnyDVD & CloneDVD will handle this one - as 300bowler said make sure you are up to date on them. There is a new version out now 6.0.5.0 (AnyDVD) and 2.9.0.10 (CloneDVD)
I used 6.0.4.5 and 2.8.9.10 - came out fine.

Thank you for your link to Ripit4me, I was having problems with RV, and it would set stuck on vob18, although RIPI4ME was more step, it did the job.

i backed up yours mine & ours using AnyDVD and shrink and the extra stuff at the begining has no sound. the main movie has sound any ideas what i did wrong?

I did this movie a few ways and also used RipIt4Me. Love how it uses decrypter & shrink - one extra step but old favs of mine:)
@crazyman1
Check the 'extras' in Shrink and see if the audio is listed or was unchecked. You can highlight on each one and see what's listed.

The Movie RV I used AnyDVD 6.0.5.0 in the background with DVD Shrink to make an ISO file of the DVD. I use IMGBurn to burn it to DVD a 4.7 gig Maxell Blank. It worked great I have tried dozens of other combinations with no sucess. Was very glad to read about this combo in this thread. Thanks for the info.

Would like to know if anyone can help with this problem. I have Windvd 6 and recently when i start it sticks, the movie does not start.. when i do cltr alt delete, is says windvd not responding, same thing when i do media player, does anyone know what is causing this?

It was the original movie, but I found out the movie was not working, it would play in stand alone DVD...
