I have a new problem in this process. I ripped the movie with ripit4me and dvddecrypter. Now when I try to open the file with DVD Shrink it says " invalid data in file C:\Silent_Hill\VTS_01_5.vob" is there anything I can do to get around this or am I just going to have to do it a different way.

First post,
I'm having the same problems as others.
I used Ripit4me for Silent Hill but afterwards when it went to DVDShrink it says an error.
Can anyone help? Thanks.

Hi,
Reference the ripit4me guide linked on the1st page of this thread and fixvts is 1 of the essential programs (VOB blanker works too) t get rid of the junk that is causing your errors.

matt72 is right if you did not use FixVTS along with the program you will still get errors as the crap/bogus cells have not been cleaned out.

AnyDVD-Shrink, no problem. Nero Recode infarcted. Recode still can't handle Sony's sh*t, everything else OK.

RipIt4Me no problems, used 1click mode, Full Movie, opted out of using Shrink and use Recode. Recode breezed right through the file.

Just noticed you were using Nero Recode there arniebear...do you think it would be possible to make the path to DVD Shrink point to Recode instead?

May be a little tricky since you choose your backup method before you actually fire up Recode, wheras the files are automatically imported in to DVD Shrink and then you select Main Movie or Full Disc.

Well I tried to set the path, but got an error message saying the path I choose does not seem to be Shrink, although it shows the path to Recode in the box. Think I will see what happens, I can only have a meltdown, lol.

Just tried it and the file would not open automatically gives me an error message from Nero saying it does not support Video Ifo file, maybe this is something the RipIt4Me people can work on. Considering I have no problem opening the file manually with Recode, now Clone will give me some problems with it, but not Shrink or Recode.

Yes, I use Recode 80% of the time, I do use DVD Rebuilder if I am doing higher compressed movies.

Nice little guide there buddy, keep up the good work.
@newbies or those needed helps
Well, since a lot of newbies (members) are having issues left to right, I thought I'll just throw in a very basic guide "DVDFAB Decrypter + VobBlanker" for those that are clueless and or needed helps.
**NOTE: The guide has been tested and it worked -- matter of fact, I've tested both ways, in combo with VobBlanker and without. Nero Recode 2 can handle the job either way easily. However, if you're the few (like me) that like to BLANK out junks from your movie/dvds, then it's wise to post process with VobBlanker, plus it helps to correct any minor structures.
**NOTE: I'm using DVDFAB Decrypter 2.9.8.3 and it took 18 minutes to rip SILENT HILL (US, Region 1)
<<< STEP 1: Rip the movie using DVDFAB Decryptery >>>
<<< STEP 2: Process the VIDEO_TS.IFO file through VobBlanker >>>
**NOTE: for this movie, I blanked out all trailers, except "Ghost Rider" only. To Blank out any scene or vTS that's basically junk, just click on any VTS, play/preview it, then use BLANK button on the "Right" or double click on PGC entry, Highlight any Cell #, Prev/Cut to play, then BLANK it out.
And now the rest is history, meaning free of junks/craps, so it should be super easy on DVD Shrink, Nero Recode 2, DVD-RB Pro or any of your desire engines. Enjoy your backup and happy burning.

Glad you posted your guide for this one, shows how the freebies get the job done, either way you can use both programs with Shrink if you don't have Recode and the finished product comes out excellent :)
