JC3 maybe the iso is currupted try to download a different version of it.cause some games do happen like this when they are not ripped properly
hey doki are u chinese and are u from hong kong.coz i am too.
setting the router hmmmm let me see.i can give some clues but i tell u tomolo, got to sleep now dude.tomolo another day.amen and btw i'm not christian but i am a muslim+chinese+filipino+spanish, wicked ain't it,feels like an alien.
name the mix
a holland guy + a filipino gal = hollapino
an iceland guy + a cubin gal = icecubes
a chinese guy + a kentucky gal = chicken
and guys i remade the easy installer again
this time version is
chunglam devhook launcher mod.1.64a
this can nanflash your 2.71.
i change the background of 1.50.
i am currently trying to add gameboots so that u can change from time to time instead of always using the same one.
devhook SE-A is suppoted in this, but i do not know how to use it yet.
they said that in devhook 2.71 SE-A,it can play iso,run any kind of homebrew, just like 1.50 can do.
well if anyone wants the new devhook tell me,coz i do not want to post it for no reason, and stupid megaupload and sendspace have problems they won't upload sometimes.
ok good luck guys.later

The current DevHook SHEX I think is called, the one with HENC is for firmware 2.71. So your in a good position. Just download firmware 2.71, put it in your psp(follow directions from site, preferably sony) and update. Don't update to anything else, only firware 2.71. You currently at 2.5 so I don't think HENC will work on that, I could be wrong but I am sure you need to update so update then try, in your PSP menu, choose PHOTO, then select HENC then go to the picture. It should turn blue for 3 seconds then restart, once it restarts open DevHook and bingo it will work guarenteed. Remember if you want to play emmus or other progs switch to firware 1.5 in your DevHook by click firmware. To play ISO's select UMD in the DevHook menu and choose your ISO file. If you want more instructions go to this thread:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/399310
GOOD LUCK.
ps: Currently I have a 2.71 and a TA-082 motherboard so it will work for you... and they said you can't do shit with a TA....

JC3,
Kal made a good pint, are you from Hong Kong? I am from Canada so I know the speeds here, I don't know anything there so maybe Kal can help you more. But no it's not normal for DL's to be 7 hrs. I downloaded the program BitTorrent and it was like that untill I switched to uTorrent. try different programs but if you are using a ROUTER it will be slower. Is your connection DSL?

jc3 try getting it from blackcats, most of them were tested before releasing and i forgot to mention to u guys that henc is crap sometimes.they said that some games do not work when using henc like smackdown vs raw 2006.maybr this might be jc3 problem too
smackdown vs raw 2006 worked for those normal 1.5 users but somehow when they upgrade to 2.71 SE-A with henc, the game did not work anymore.my game worked on my friends 1.5psp thats why i said before to a guy in this thread that it works,so im sorry maybe some games will not work for us.good luck guys and sorry for giving that dude wrong info, adios amigos

I have had nearly all my iso's work but 2. I get the dreaded "game could not be started" error message. I have a ta-082 fw 2.71 factory. I have no issue booting and changing dev hook settings and firmwares. Everything bar two .iso's work. Killzone and Pirates of the Caribbean. I have no idea why they dont work due to my limited knowledge of the psp. I have downloaded the images from different sites (different rips/sizes) but they still dont boot.
I feel like it's a very reliable method but I want to find the cause of some ISO's not booting. It's seems odd that some games that require 2.71 firmware to boot are okay but others that require the same firmware dont. I get the image loaded (killzone) but it never boots to the game. I can even delete that ISO while in dev launcher for 2.71 using the usb connection load up another ISO (crash bandicoot) press home and left click and boot next game no worries. Dont even reboot the PSP to get next game....so there is obviously nothing wrong with henC or Dev hook as it loads another ISO without reboot.
Pirates of the Carribbean has been around for some time. as for killzone I can wait until a better rip comes along. Still very happy with whole thing though....TA-082 owners are now rejoicing. I used the easy installer v2 about 5 days ago..is there an update that might have beter compatibility with some games???

Just out of interest, and it probably makes no difference, try this...
umd select - Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Mans Chest
umd mount - iso anyumd
umd SFO version - 2.xx -. 2.00 (its in other menu)
firmware - 2.50
cpu clock - 222mhz / 111mhz
boot select - reboot xmb
and then start

I unforunately cant try the pirates of the carribbean ISO's as I have deleted them. I will come back to it later. I wanted to try the chunlam version but megaupload sucks big time. Whenever I try to download it it stalls halfway. I cant even get into the site at the moment it's obviously down. I re-downloaded the easy installer v2 quite quickly but megaupload seems to have crashed (I am in Australia) so could be something wrong my end.
Dont know why killzone wont work. Blackcats site says it's been tested with emulated 2.71 dev hook but many people are having trouble while others are fine. Seems to work for 1.5 owners emulating 2.71 but not 2.71 owners emulating devhook for 2.71. Hope theres an update soon as I think there is a bug with the emulator...Compatibility issues. I did try dev hook setting UMD SFO version 2.xx - 2.00 but my psp froze upon start.
I am not complaining mind you as there are heaps of ISO's I have downloaded that work without problems, so for now I will just play them until some more testing or updates come along. Even if some games dont work it's of no big difference to me as being able to play iso's at all is a massive leap for 2.71 ta-082 owners. As for the snes and stuff I am not really interested ( I am 31 years old). I primarily wanted to play ISO's as the PSP I purchased is for my sons christmas present and he wont be able to understand all of this (Or so I think, he blows me away some times).
Keep up all the good work!!! If anyone has the chunlam version could they upload it as a torrent and link it...
For those who are using a torrent client for the first time you need to read up about opening router ports. There is a web site called port fowrding.com that will let you search for your router type and walk you through how to set it up. When you open the ports on your router you are allowing a program direct access to the internet without the NAT firewall in your router (you could turn of the NAT firewall but I would'nt recommend doing this). You will find that your speeds increase based on the amount of peers (other downloaders) who have finished the file you are also downloading, the more seeders (peers who have completed the torrent and are fully distributing to you and others) the better the download speed. Eventually your speed will max out based on your DSL line speed (I have 512mb download and I only see about 57kbps whereas before opening ports I was lucky to see 6-7kbps).The more seeders the better, It could take days with only 2-4 seeders but with 300-400 it only takes an hour or two...big difference...Check the health of a torrent before downloading. DONT forget to seed..To many people jump and run (leeching).
I find turning off windows firewall helps too sometimes (for those that cant configure WIN XP firewall settings)

Ive been lucky enough to get this guide and megaman maverick hunter X to work on my psp successfuly. But as a result of using the hen_c program, i think it might have bricked my psp. Before i "bricked" the psp, all i did was run hen_c, waited for the blue screen and wait for it to reset. But instead of it reseting, it crashed and then i could never turn it on again. this had happend before but i had been able to turn it back on and retry. Any ideas any one?

First I would like to thank everyone who made this possible! I have(had) FW 2.60 on a TA-082 mb. I first tried the manual setup with no luck and then decided to use the easy installer. HENC works as intended about 90% of the time on the first try. Below is a list of games that I have been able to play using this method:
Tekken Dark Resurrection
Marvel Nemesis Rise of the Imperfects
Metal Gear Acid
Namco Museam Battle Collection
Need For Speed Most Wanted
Ridge Racer
SOCOM US Navy Seals Fireteam Bravo
Twisted Metal Head On
The only game that I have tried so far that doesn't work is 'Bust A Move Deluxe', but it may just be a bad iso. I will be trying more games as quickly as I can get them downloaded.
Thanks again to kealvalro! I had been patiently waiting for the day I could run isos on my TA-082 and it seems to have paid off.
BRAVO!!

First off - THANKS! It helped me a lot and I can now run lots of games on my TA-082 PSP. It's amazing!
Now a question: Have you guys been able to run the new Killzone ISO? I'm not talking about the demo, but The full game that was released a couple of days ago. I flash the game, I do all the HENC and DevHook stuff, I go to GAME > UMD [Killzone] - it tries to run and then I get "The game could not start" (or something like that) and I'm back on the XMB.
You guys know a fix? Thanks!!!

I saw in a previous post that you were able to load games through a USB cable. Were you able to do this in Devhook for 2.71? I saw a thread on this but they were using a mod for Devhook in 1.50, not the one for 2.71.

I have tried chunlam's installer installed on my PSP and it's great. I still have issues with killzone. I think we have to emulate the 2.71se-a firmware not just 2.71 ( if that makes sense). From what i understood from the install notes from this thread for chunlam's install is that we have to emulate 2.71 only in the dev setup...Maybe we could change it to use custom firmware also. I have read that this game wont work for standard 2.71 in dev. Most people playing it are using 2.71se and are 1.5 users.
I could be totally wrong as I have a little difficulty understanding some of the terms...If your out of the loop so to speak you need to read a bucket load to understand whats going on...I need to understand what the file types and extensions actually do and why they need to be in certain folders for different things to work but I am sure I will get there with a trusty search engine.
Hopefully this will work soon..
