No it is not permanent. You are not flashing anything just copying the registry files to your memory stick. Also this only affects DevHook. So if you use the button swap it willl only swap the buttons of the firmware that it emulated in DevHook and not your actual firmware.

BTW Even if you chose to flash the configfile to flash1, all this does is flash a configuration file and it wont do anything to your firmware.

Hi there, I have a small problem which as usual may sound stupid, I have managed to install everything and all is working fine, but i do not know where to save my games too on the memory stick, the files have changed, before there was an iso folder, do I just make a new folder and place games in there ?

Cheers

Yeah just make an ISO folder in the root of your memory stick just like before.

Then put your ISOs in the folder and you can play them.

I'm getting stuck at the devhook part. i launch it and it starts up fine but then it just sits there and I can't do anything, the buttons don't do anything. It says PSP DEVHOOK Ver.0.51 BETA by BOOSTER on the top and some info on the lower left and right but nothing in the middle to choose like there was when I was running .46.
I'm following the directions for this tutorial;
http://eternal-psp.a22.biz/index.php?opt...id=25&Itemid=31
but the PSAR Dumper is the same as that of the Devhook file so I got the dumper 300 from another site. When I launched that it asked me to hit cross for something O for another and square to do everything or something to that effect. No straight up 'hit x' prompt like others are reporting. Could this be my problem? I hit X and it went through for a good few minutes decrypting and saving etc...
I'm running an original 1.5 and I tried formatting the card to start over but got the same results.
Thanks for the instructions though.

Did you install to flash1? And did you copy the flash1 files I gave a link to, into ms0:/dh/301/f1/ ?

Also try using the easy installer in the first page of this thread. (I also made a mod for the installer to allow it to install firmware 3.02, you can find this on page 3 of this thread).

Thanks for that eternalis, I created folder drop image in but now when I go to devhoook and enter it says " this game cannot be started the data is corrupted" ? Also before I could do the right/left button & home and change iso's but now devhook menu comes up, any help would be much appriciated.

Cheers

Ok, I'm trying to download the installer, but what will that replace? Or is it in addition to what I've already done?
I don't think i installed the flash1, what step was that?

Thats the problem then. You have to install to flash1. Its like the step where you launch DevHook and then go to FLASH ROM and then select "flash configfiles to flash1:". Do that and it should work.

Did you install the firmware using the installer or my guide? Did you flash the configfiles to flash1?

OK I have 1.5 I followed the instructions and installed devhook 0.51. It rebot, says the firmware is 3.01 and all the features seem to be there.

I have created an ISO folder and put an example in there, but how do I now play it? Devhook won;t start in this emulated 3.01 as it says it is corrupt.

have I missed something out?

what is this talk of flashing the f1, it is new to me

thanks in advance

No lol, you don't start DevHook in 3.01.

Just insert a UMD, and go to GAME-->UMD and then your ISO will load.

Thanks for the prompt response.

I have just tried that and the psp just poped up the psp splash screen then switched itself off.

I have 2 iso's in the directory could this be the issue?

thanks

I got the files installed, but ive got a question before I try to fix the button swap issue.

In the devhook menu, if I go to flash install, I select "install configfile to flash1". it tells me devhook isn't installed in flash0: and it says 28x is installed in flash1. Is this right?

In the main devhook menu, I see the following:

preload addr 89200000
firmware not supported
remote port not supported

This doesn't seem right... did I miss a step or 3?

but otherwise it seems I'm in f/w 3.02

According to the main post, to fix the swap issue, you need to copy the files from the archive

http://rapidshare.com/files/6249912/Button_Swap_for_3.01.rar.html

to here:
ms0:\dh\301\f1\registry

With 3.02 firmware, do I put them in:
ms0:\dh\302\f1\registry

instead?

Yeah thats right. Just hold down O for 1 second to get it to start.

This is right as well. I get the same thing and mine works perfectly.

@whaworth- Which ISO are you trying to run?

Need for speed carbon seems to work, but sometimes the psp switches off either on loading it or when getting back to the psp menus.

is this normal? and will I just have ot put up with it, or is there something I can do.

thanks in advance

Download this flash1 folder: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=YDKHD9PE
And copy the f1 folder to ms0:/dh/302/
Then install the configfiles to flash and the buttons should swap around.

@whaworth-
No thats not normal. Did you install the configfiles to flash1?

Thanks eternalis, but I am still on 3.01. Anyhow since you mentioned 3.02 do you have a quick link as to how to update it the easy way from 3.01? I believe you don't touch devhook 0.51 correct?

Use my 3.02 firmware installer mod:

DevHook 0.51 Firmware 3.02 installer- I made a mod of tommydanger's 3.01 DevHook Firmware Installer to allow you to install firmware 3.02. Just extract the archive and copy the folders in MS_ROOT to the root of your memory stick. Click Yes to replace if it prompts you to. Then put the 3.02 update eboot to the root of your memory stick. Now run the installer. Note: This is only for firmware 1.5 and 2.71 SE-C. If you want to run this in 2.71 SE-C you MUST make the GAME folder for 1.5 kernel homebrew by going into recovery mode or it will show up as corrupt data.

Download link: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=E8HT40XX

After installing this, a new option for firmware 3.02 will appear in the DevHook Firmware menu.

Thanks eternalis for your help.

I'm able to boot up 3.02 now & no button swap ... I just don't know how ps1 emulation works, and I wish there was an easier way to enter my WEP key so i can connect via wifi :D

Well you only need to enter the wep key once i.e when you set the internet connection up.

To use the PS1 emulator you have to have a PS3. Plus you have to pay for the games.

Hi Eternalis

I followed the instructions and did the button swap thing, but I don;t think I did any config files in flash.

Could you direct me to the right bit and I would be eternally gratefull as i feel so close to getting it sorted.

Thanks in advance

Do I first need to get a copy of the 3.02 Update Eboot and make sure its called "EBOOT.PBP" on my memory root? Could you also elaborate when you say "you MUST make the GAME folder for 1.5 kernel homebrew by going into recovery mode or it will show up as corrupt data." if I want to run it in 2.71 SE-C?

eternalis, I updated my PSP to 3.02 but devhook couldn't find my ISO game under my ISO folder (it's there, trust me). One thing I didn't do is to put the new data psar in the root of my memory besides the 3.02 eboot as I didn't see it in your intructions. Is this a must?

Another problem I encountered is that once I went into recovery and went into the game for 1.5 kernel folder, devhook would freeze and then shut off. Frustrating.

Edit: when I try dev.0.46 I do see the iso game.
