6.) extract devhook and put the launcher files in ms0:\PSP\GAME and place the DH folder in the root of your memory stick. you can also simply copy and paste it but in the guide that comes with the installer states you need the fbm folder but I found it runs fine without it.

7.) Start the devhook firmware installer and press X when it prompts you on screen. It will now install all the firmware files for devhook. No more BSOD. When it's finished you can now boot devhook with 3.01 support.

Through these steps i got completely lost. Ok so i finished the guide..and went to psp game and i saw the devhook icon... but another icon that said corrupt data.. is that supposed to be there.. and weres the devhook installer icon sopposed to be on my psp.. that getting me confused.

Im confused by the whole thing.. to be honest but iunno @_@ could someone help me to correctly install this thing properly. Im used to the self-installer for 0.46 thats why im having trouble with all of this.

Thats the problem then. You have to install to flash1. Its like the step where you launch DevHook and then go to FLASH ROM and then select "flash configfiles to flash1:". Do that and it should work.

That sounds about right, but my issue seems to be the devhook program then. When I launch it I just get this screen with no actual input options

Is it possible I didn't do something prior to this point that would cause devhook not to allow any input?
Thanks for the help

what kind of tech support is this?!! ;)
hahaha, I kid, I kid! Seriously though I love the great info people like eternalis gives people like me here. It's an invaluable service they're providing. thanks
Anyway, I think I figured it out, but I'm stuck elsewhere now. I did not have the eboot file at the root of my memory stick so I put that there and ran the FW installer app which successfully ran through. So, I launched devhook which now has the familiar menu I was previously missing. However, when I go to the UMD SELECT option and select File Emulation (to access ISO files in the ISO folder at the root right?) it says No File despite me having an ISO folder with files in it... Did I miss something? Do I have to still run through the 'Install configfile to flash1' option? When I clicked on that it came up with some scary looking red text. Can I brick it by running through this process?

Draseri I'm no expert and I'm having probs too, but the devhook installer is on the psp games menu, memory card. there you will see devhook as before. I was confused by this as well.

minimoose I had the same issue, with the iso game not showing even though I know it's there. I did click on the install configfile to flash 1 even though I saw those red letters but it was fine. Now when you get to start devhook, you'll see something like UMD game and the other option is emulation. Press on to your right button and wait a couple of seconds and your iso game all of the sudden shows up and then you can play your game. One thing 3.02 doesn't have compared to 3.01 is the update icon on the PSP stating which version you have, at least I don't see it on mine.

Thanks for the response. Ok, so I choose emulation, it says no file still but I choose devhook menu and start. The psp reboots to 3.02 as it should with the vshex devhook setting menu overlaid. I hit right like you describe and UMD:ms0:/IOS/gametitle.iso shows at the bottom left of the screen. That looks promising, but when I close the menu nothing happens and it won't let me escape the devhook although I don't know if I'm even supposed to... At any rate next to FIRMWARE and REMOTE PORT it says 'not supported' in the devhook menu. Could that be my problem? Any ideas? Thanks

You're on the right track. Just keep pressing emulation to the right until you see your iso info at the bottom left of the screen. Once you see the game, just close devhook and move up to the UMD icon, just above the update icon (which I finally got it) and voila. It takes about 5 seconds for the iso to load.

@Thoatih- You have to copy DevHook to your memory stick first otherwise that error comes up. So download DevHook 0.51 from here: http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/940

Then copy the dh, fbm and PSP folders to the root of your memory stick and press Yes if it asks you to replace.

BTW I'm back! Sorry mods for making a new account but I think I deserve to because my previous one was banned mistakenly. Also I may take a while to reply as since I'm a newbie now I have to wait 3 mins between posts :(

Hi Eternalis

I followed the instructions and did the button swap thing, but I don;t think I did any config files in flash.

Could you direct me to the right bit and I would be eternally gratefull as i feel so close to getting it sorted.

Thanks in advance
Just launch DevHook 0.51, then go to FLASH ROM and then select "install configfiles to flash1:". Then hold down circle for 1 second and it will begin flashing. Then your buttons should swap.

I would but my umd option disappears once I hit emulation. Could it be the iso maybe? All I have now is Game Sharing, Certificate Utility, Saved Data Utility and Memory Stick.

Sorry minimoose I think it was a problem in my 3.02 package.

Anyway, go to ms0:/dh/05beta/menu. Then open up menu_umd.txt and change usbhost0:/ISO to ms0:/ISO

Sorry I accidentally put that file in. I was experimenting with usbhost on DevHook 0.51 :)

It looks like that was the problem. I changed it and even in the first initial devhook menu when I chose emulation the iso showed up. However, when starting devhook the system got to the 'Sony Computer Entertainment' splash screen and locked up. Is this common?

No thats not common.

Did you install the configfiles after selecting firmware 3.02 in the FIRMWARE menu?

BTW I made a new DevHook 3.02 installer mod, download it from here:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=MRW5GVB4

In this one the previous problem of the ISO not showing up is fixed plus it uses the new DevHook 0.51.01.

You have to go through the configfile option each time you want to run devhook? I added the 3.02 eboot file then ran through the configfile if that's what you are referring to. I'll give the new FW installer a try then.

No you dont have to do that every time you run DevHook.

I mean after you have run my installer mod, then run DevHook go to FIRMWARE and choose 3.02. Then go to FLASH ROM-->install configfiles to flash.

Welcome back et3rnalis, I'll try your new 3.02 and see if my iso folder appears this time. Just overwrite all the folders correct? Anything else?

Yep just overwrite everything. It might be better if you format your memory stick and then install using the new installer.

Its nice to be back. But hopefully I can get my post count back (it sucks being a newbie, I have to wait 3 mins after each post).

When I open up your files it has step 1 and step 2. It deals up to 3.01 though. Not 3.02.

Hex, I have a few questions on the 0.51 and I was wondering if I can contact you in a way where we can have a live chat in stead of posting, if you do not want to give me your email can we meet in an IRC of some sort?

Please reply and if you dont want to give your email addy then I'll arrange a place where we can meet.

I'm just doing this because I can't seem to grasp instructions and directions in a one dimensioned post :p

I ran through it all again using the new file set but I still get a lock up when rebooting into 3.02 after setting up devhook. any ideas?

What do you mean? Are you talking about the readme? Because thats basically the original readme of tommydanger's original installer, I just changed 3.01 to 3.02.

@minimoose- What firmware are you on? Is this just with a particular ISO? If so the ISO could be corrupted.

@VK_Zone- I think I can help you. Do you have MSN?
