It looks like it was the game choice. I was trying a new game with a snake in it...and that would lock up the system for some reason on reboot. Another almost as new known-good game works fine though.
Thanks for all the help with this. Sony might not be helping the psp too much but it's communities like this and people like you that make owning a psp fun still.

Et3rnalis, When I open step 2 the DH folder just goes up to 2.82. If the reading file pertains to 3.01 and you chnage it to 3.02 as you claim, cool but I just don't see it. Try to open the file yourself and perhaps you can see what I mean.

@10spro- Sorry I dont get you. What do you mean by step 2? When you open my zip file it has MS_ROOT and readme.txt. Just copy everything in MS_ROOT to the root of your memory stick.

Anyway, go to ms0:/dh/05beta/menu. Then open up menu_umd.txt and change usbhost0:/ISO to ms0:/ISO
Sorry I accidentally put that file in. I was experimenting with usbhost on DevHook 0.51 :)
Et3rnalis, I'll try it this way, since I do have 3.02 working but my only problem is that I don't see the iso folder when I start devhook 0.51.
This is what I see when I open up the menu_umd text: "#
#DEVHOOK launcher 0.51.0000 UMD select menu
#
!UMD Disc
UMD_PATH=""
!File Emulation
UMD_PATH=:filesel,-1,1,"UMD SELECT","usbhost0:/ISO"
And according to your intructions I should delete "usbhost0:/ISO" and after "UMD SELECT" just type "ISO"? Thanks.

No thats not what you do. You change usbhost0:/ to ms0:/

Where is the f0 folder? If you're talking about the one in ms0:/dh/301/ then no, you can't delete it. But you can delete it if it is anywhere else.
On your 3.01 you can download PS1 games and play them if you have a PS3. You can also use visualisations while listening to music. You can also use remote play to play on a PS3 using your PSP.

et3rnalis, I had downloaded a wrong zip file earlier that's why we could understand each other. I got the right zip file this time, and after I start devhook, under umd select I do see my iso games this time. Thanks again.
@minimoose, I would try his latest zip file if you're still having problems.

I did. I think my problem is with the game. I tried it via the devhook and the xmb menu and both times it froze on the same game; mgs. I'm glad I got the whole 3.02 working but I'd like to get that game working even more as that's why I set off on this whole crusade in the first place...

@10spro-
Download this:
http://rapidshare.com/files/6249912/Button_Swap_for_3.01.rar.html
And place system.ireg and system.dreg in ms0:/dh/302/f1/registry/ and click on Yes if it asks you to replace.
Then go into DevHook and install the configfiles to flash1 again and your buttons should be back to normal!
@minimoose- Did you download the ISO or dump it? If you downloaded it, it chould be corrupted. Whats the size of your ISO?

Does any one have a clue why my 3.01 , 2.81 and 2.82 firmware dont work on the dev hook 0.51...Though 3.01 and 2.71 seems to do fine

Well theres really no point in emulating 2.82 or anything else if firmware 3.01 works as 3.01 can play all of the ISOs the other firmwares play and has all of the features that the other firmwares have.

@minimoose- I think I figured out how to get your ISO to work. A guy at the Maxconsole forums found this fix for BIA (Brothers in Arms). It could also work for the game you want to play. Anyway download this sysmem.prx from here:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=P5N8G9PH
Then copy the sysmem.prx to ms0:/dh/302/f0/kd/ and click on Yes when it asks you to replace.
Then your game should work!
Wait I just realised that this might not work because I dumped it using my PSP, and the dumps are unique to each PSP
Anyway follow these instructions instead:
1. Download a 3.00 eboot, extract the DATA.PSAR using PBP Unpacker and decrypt and dump the PSAR using PSAR Dumper (press X)
2. Copy the sysmem.prx found in the "kd" folder of the dump into your ms0:/dh/302/kd and it should now work.

I just realize it wont work perfectly on my MGS:PO.cso
sometimes it works, sometimes not.. if the 2nd psp loading screen fades means it loads..
how could this happen?

See my aboev link to the ultimate installer, I tried other guides bit had problems, used the ultimate installer and using 3.2. I saved all game saves to my computer, formatted my stick, used ultimate installer and then put saved games back in right folder, sweet and easy.

Yeah you will still be on firmware 1.5. DevHook just emulates firmware 3.01 allowing to use the 3.02 XMB and play the newest games. Also the flashing that you have to do only flashes some DevHook configfiles to flash1.
