You can defrag by connecting your microsd to your computer, right-clicking on it, going to properties->tools->defragmentation
did this fix the problem? and after defragmenting your card did it ever gave you the same problem again?

Yes it did fix the problem, it has reoccured since but I am always moving files to and from the card and fragmenting everything, another defrag fixed it again. I now have a larger memory stick so havn't had the problem yet (due to less moving around of files).

It is unlikly to be the M3, if you are concerned just return it and have a replacement sent.

lol ok its just that this is my first modchip for the ds and I got no idea what to expect when I got them...and its just a turnoff when the game suddenly stuck while I was playing you know. I will go and try defragmenting it and see from there.

Trim the ROM and you cannot send the game to another DS for single cart multiplayer unless it has FlashMe installed.
Unfortunately I did not see this until I had trimmed all games and deleted the original games.
Instead of spending another 2 months downloading all the english games again, is there a way round playing multi player?
(you mention Flashme, where do I download this and what does it need and do?)
Thanks

I followed your instructions to copy all the data direct to the memory card. This was the folders _system_ and moonshl and also _DS_MENU and _DS_MSHL.nds
The main menu appears and games play OK, but whenever I try and go to multi media it says "can not find moonshl folder"
One of the problems it lists is "did the setup end normally?"
Apart from drag and drop these files onto the card, should I have run a setup program?
The folder is definitely there and the problem has occured on 3 DS simply carts with different memory sticks. I have reformatted and tried again, and used version 1.05 and 1.06.
Am I missing something obvious??

Thanks

An error when starting Moonshell is normal, have you tested to see if Moonshell works after the error message has passed?

I can not pass the error page, everything is frozen. The top screen has a blue page of boot up info, where it detects the R4 (although it is actually a M3 simply). It then finds ./skin, ./plugin, ./custom but then says can not found moonshl folder.

The bottom screen says "an error was detected while trying to access the disc or file. Please confirm the followings:
Did set up end normally?
Is the /moonshl folder moved or deleted?
Have you enabled the resume feature with media that is not supported?
Do you have enough free space on your media?
Reformat and try again.
Please try with different media from another manufacturer."

I have tried most of the above with no luck.

Mr Hanky - can you also answer the question about multi player and trimmed games (see my post above)

Thanks,Trevor
Any ideas?

Try downloading Moonshell form the creators website:
http://mdxonline.dyndns.org/archives/200...ver171_dl.shtml
Use the setup.exe file in the download to put the files on your microsd, you will need to rename the .nds afterwards to _DS_MSHL.NDS for the media button to load it.

Trimming games will break the 'download play' multiplayer function (where you have the game and send it to the other DS' who don't have it), the only way round it is to install FlashMe on the recieving DS, this is firmware replacement, and generally is not worth doing for just download play (plus your friends/relatives may not want you doing it to their DS)
The majority of games don't work with download play on the M3 anyway, trimmed or not.
Nintendo WFC (online play) and multicart play (where everyone has the game/rom) is unaffected.

Quick question.

My M3 works perfectly for roms, but i've had some problems viewing pictures. I loaded the JPEGs on to my memory card and started up the DS. Went into Moonshell to look at the pictures, but when i chose to load one of them, the image would be zoomed in way too much. I try to zoom out, but there's tremendous lag and it won't even zoom out all the way to show the entire picture. Is there a setting I can change? Are the files too big (they're about 1.5 MB each)? Any way i can reduce the size of the file if that is the problem? Thank you so much!

I'm not a Moonshell expert, but you might be able to change the default load settings in the global.ini (so it displays the picture resized on the screen)

The only other way would be to resize them on your computer to the DS screen size and then copy them over.

Thanks for the response. Hmm . . . changing the picture size on the comp seems to be a bit troublesome.

How do i change the settings through global.ini? Sorry for the newbie question!

Using Moonshell (the Media button) you can play .dpg movies, you can convert your videos to this format using BatchDPG (google it).

Try DLDI patching them. If that doesn't work its the homebrews fault. Just check for a later version.

M3 simply and R4 are the same thing, just with different stickers.

First Post...Woot..and all that jazz.

I've read that you can get a GameBoy Colour emulator working on the M3 DS..but i don't know how :S

As noobish as it sounds i tried just dragging and dropping on the SD card, i can find the file but it will not load/open.

Does anyone know how to get a GBC emulator working on the M3?

and if so where do i put the roms for it?

thanks in advance

I don't normally use emulators on my DS but I just tried Lameboy and it worked (tested with Pokemon Gold)

Simply drag Lameboy onto your microsd and copy the ROMs where you want, I put pokemon in a folder called 'GBC'

You don't need to do anything to Lameboy, but make sure you have a recent firmware on your M3 so it will auto-DLDI patch the file.
