Yes, it works for R4 as well, the application "moonshell" can only play DPG files so you'll have to use BatchDPG to convert all your video files to DPG format.

And only JPEG images are supported by moonshell as far as I know. It's just a simple case of dragging and dropping.

make sure that _DS_MENU.DAT is in your memcard's root directory.

As for a question of my own: I'm actually using an R4, but couldn't find an R4 thread here. The DS doesn't recognize any of my ROMs; it actually doesn't recognize any extension or file except for .SAVs and _DS_MSHL.NDS. I renamed my games, could that be a reason? But also I am having trouble running moonshell; it turns up a bunch of errors:

-Did the setup end normally? what setup?
-is the "/moonshl" folder moved or deleted?[ i]I don't believe so..[/i]
-Have you enabled the resume function with a media that is not supported?no idea what this means.
-Do you have enough free space on your media? doubt it, i have about 300MBs free on my 1GB card
-Please re-format the media and try again. tried this, and reformatted it to FAT32
-Please try with a different media from another manufacturer. I don't think SanDisk should have a problem.

can anybody help me? Thanks in advance! :D

g0ds3nd-the moonshell error, don't worry about it, it's completely normal !
Moonshell throws up the error screen then runs anyway.

As for the files - if you have your PC set to hide file extensions in Explorer, eg it shows "gamename" instead of "gamename.nds", then you rename it as "newgamename.nds", you could have a situation where the file is now called "newgamename.nds.nds" (I think).

Set your explorer to show file extensions and check!
Let me know.

Would anyone happen to know of a good program that I can use on my Macbook to transfer and manage the roms that I currently have on my M3 DS Simply? Our main computer crashed and I'm currently trying to use my Mac to allow me to move files, etc...but it keeps saying that the disk is full, even though I know this is not the case.

Any suggestions as to how I can get my Roms and my card working again (from updating on the mac)?

Sounds like you have a Chinese M3, you going to have to find the Chinese firmware files to use the device.
You can patch the English firmware to work, but only up to about v1.05 i think, any higher and games don't load. And to play the latest games you need the latest firmware, so using the Chinese firmware is really your only option.

Unfortunetly I am not a Mac user so I am not sure what you could do for the card not working, maybe backup the enitre contents, format the card then drag everything back on?

As for rom management, maybe another Mac user knows a good program?

I have a question, what exactly is diferrent between the M3 and the R4 ?
What can the R4 do that the M3 can't and vice-versa ?
To do the change between them I just need to put the wished firmware ?

The M3 and R4 are the same, the R4 team manufactuer the device, and the M3 team (who have been around alot longer) buy and rebrand the device, becuase of this the M3 firmware update are usually 2-3 days after the R4 updates as the M3 team need to rebrand the firmware and make it compatible with the M3.

To use the firmware frmo one on another you have two options:
1. Hardware. This only applie to the very early models of the M3 and R4, these had a solder bridge on them where you could remove the solder to go from the M3 to an R4, or add solder to go from R4 to M3. This method is the best method as it work on all the firmwares, but you have to own an early M3/R4 as the board got revised to remove this point.

2. Software. It is possible to patch some the firmware to work on the other device, however this only works upto about M3v1.05/R4v1.10. Newer firmwares load, but cannot launch games.

Yes, it justs case of if a new game does not work you usually have to wait a couple of days longer for the M3 update. Both devices have the same compatibility.

Hi Mr. Hanky

Do you know if the new M3 Simply updates actually fix the sleep mode? i.e., does the sleep mode now actually conserve power like the DS would normally do, or does it continue to drain the power?

I searched the threads but I couldnt find confirmation - hopefully I'm not just blind or something

thanks!!

Do not buy the M3 DS Simply. It's a piece of sh!t. The slot for the mirco SD card breaks after about a week of use. I bought one, it broke, send it back for a new one, that new one broke shortly after receiving it... extremely frustrating!!

I've had/sold/passed on around 60 m3 simplys now and this has only happened once!
Not wanting to teach granny to suck eggs or anything, but you do know it's "push in to release", the same as the DS cart itself ?
