It was my understanding that the games would be burnt on dual layer discs. The LG drives you listed are just regular DVD-RW right... I was planning on purchasing a dual layer drive specifically for burning Wii games, is it not needed? Are original Wii games dual layer? so essentially when we backup games, the data must be getting compressed and we lose quality right?

As far as chips go, I'm waiting to see what new chips will be on the market in the near future. There's a buzz about this WiiXT chip, do you think it's real? I hear there's a lot of problems with the CycloWiz at the moment. I just got my Wii 4 days ago so chances are the chip is not even compatible with it. Do you guys know of any new chips to be released? ....

i am using NERO Ultra burning as stated in the Tut @ 2X and 2.4X
I have tried 3 different types of blank DVD media and none will produce
a readable disk
when i explore the burned disk in my computer .. go to the properties of it it says the disk has 0 Bytes and 0 Bytes free? yet its recognized as a DVD ROM .. what gives?
Do I need some kinda mod chip installed in my Wii?

If you're verbatims have a max speed of 16, I would burn these at 8. Usually with verbatims about half speed is what you want to shoot for.
