and will the wii play back up games as soon the game gets enter

thanks
There is only one game requiring a Dual Layer and that is SSBB

As for best media, it doesn't seem to be as important on the wii as other consoles.

For some memorex works just fine. So you may have to experiment yourself.

I use Sony DVD-R and they all work fine for me.

There is always risk in installing anything, but follow the guides and you should be fine.
Once installed, it won't harm your wii

You have to go through the backup launcher, then your backup will play.

Over on the wiinja forum, people have been telling me for Sony DVD+R discs i need to set ''booktype''. I do not know what that means. They also said i had to ''flash'' my drive and i have no clue what that means because I have a Sony DW-U14A 2.0e

Anyone help me out? should i keep trying to use Sony DVD+R's or just go with -R's
If I were you I'd go with the -R's that's what everyone is using and they work great...
You may use the +R's but yes you must change the bookset to -R's for the Wii to be-able to read the disk

It was my understanding that the games would be burnt on dual layer discs. The LG drives you listed are just regular DVD-RW right... I was planning on purchasing a dual layer drive specifically for burning Wii games, is it not needed? Are original Wii games dual layer? so essentially when we backup games, the data must be getting compressed and we lose quality right?

As far as chips go, I'm waiting to see what new chips will be on the market in the near future. There's a buzz about this WiiXT chip, do you think it's real? I hear there's a lot of problems with the CycloWiz at the moment. I just got my Wii 4 days ago so chances are the chip is not even compatible with it. Do you guys know of any new chips to be released? ....

Thanks again!
NO!!! You DO NOT need a duel layer burner to make back up's of your wii games...they are only a single layer disk...4.7g's or less...
As far as adding a Mod-chip to your Wii,that you have to open the console to do there is a easier and a FREE way to get backup games to work on your Wii...it's a Soft-Mod.meaning it is nothing more than installing software on your Wii,it doesn't matter if you had your Wii for 4 years or 4 days it does work!
If you would like more information on the Soft-Mod please look at my friends site here... http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=119216 he gives you all the files that you need + instructions on how to do this.I have done it on several Wii's as of now and have had NO Problems doing it or getting it to work. You DO need a wireless internet connection (WI-FI)for this to work.
If your looking for more information on Wii Hacking there is a Form here... http://gbatemp.net/index.php?act=SF&f=108
Here is a search page from www.google.com http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=twilight+hack+&btnG=Search it has tons of info about the twlight hack.
I hope that this has helped

YES your Wii has to have a Mod Chip I would go with the soft-mod it's free

Well from my understanding...most of the Mod chip's block Nintendo's Updates.
I would suggest using a Soft Mod thus letting you pick the updates that you want to install...not Nintendo

also, i have the lg burner, but i prefer to burn using my sony laptop burner, is this okay? and for some reason, my nero has problems with it, so i always use the sonic record now program that comes with the sony vaio computers, has anyone tried this, does it work?
i have been reading that some ppl's backup copies don't work, is this due to the burning program or due to the dvd's themselves. i am planning on buyin the wiikey once my concerns have been answered. and also, is the verbatim dvd-r the one that works best? or does it also depend on which burner you use the verbatim dvd with?

any information is fine, thanks in advance.

The wiikey mod is permanent unless you remove it...LOL
Yes some games can be played on-line now...not in the future
Adding a Mod Chip Does Not jeopardize this opportunity at all.
I would however I would use a Soft-Mod...they are easier to install and the best part is the price....FREE
I use Nero 7 and have had no problems with the Wii not reading the disc, which I use Verbatium DVD -R's which seem to work flawless so far.
People that have disc errors are either using the wrong disc or it's the burn speed...you have to play around to see which works for you. Again I use Verbatium DVD -R's and Nero 7 and write it @ a 2x speed

Is there any way I can get Windows Installer 3.0 on this computer or is there any other programs I can download instead. Please somebody help, I dont have much hair left!! Thanks Also my other system has 3.0 but I dont have the original windows disc.

There is a way to make Microsoft "THINK" that you have a valid copy of windows.Check out the group I started here for more information on this... http://groups.google.com/group/tips-for-windows-xp and read the article...http://groups.google.com/group/tips-for-windows-xp/browse_thread/thread/da9a1858e77fd5af but you will need to get this file ( XPsp2_v2.1.zip)from there.
This works ONLY for WINDOWS XP and VISTA !!!

If you're verbatims have a max speed of 16, I would burn these at 8. Usually with verbatims about half speed is what you want to shoot for.

Yes this is the best disc...to me
So I'm going to say your burner won't write less than a 4x unless your missing something.

#1. No you may use regular DVD's
#2. Yes you may put GC games on a regular disc....really there is a program called "MultiGame_ISO_Creator_v3.2.4F" that will let us put a "FEW" GC games on a single disc seems most GC games are around 1.3g and most DVD's are 4.7g's unless you use the duel layer 1's that increases to 8.5g's and if you use Wiigators GC backup launcher you may use duel layer discs from what I understand.
I hope this helps

So only the pioneer's work. Anyone know why this is?

#1 No your burner is fine
#2 No most all burners work
#3 No I don't know why my burner is a cheap Lite-On duel layer burner I bought to make copys of movies but it works great with Nero 7 to make "back-up" copys of my Wii games

As far as I know that is still the way to back up wii games.
There are a few more compatible drives now.
There is a list here

There are a couple other methods

Why are you wanting to extract it. It should be an ISO file and you just burn it.

If it is damaged, I would say you need to try again.
