Went through a bunch of different guides, picked up pieces from here and there and now everything works, there's alot of stuff missed out in this guide, like the fact that you need to move src and fbm files onto the stick aswell, flash install, etc.
But cheers for getting me started fellas, all good now.
Also, can I delete dh .46 and 301 update file now that I only need .51 and .4x for 2.71?

You have to copy-paste the '05' and '05Beta' folders from the devhook051_271 folder that you downloaded, into your dh folder on your memory stick.
They are the files that have the purple menu info in them.

I'm right up to the last step of the guide, but when i run FW 3.01 and do start it comes up with about 4 lines of white writing, and then my PSP goes to a blank black screen for about 10 seconds and then switches itself off... any ideas why? x

Hi MidnightJ,
I had followed the guide but unable to complete the part 1 . . .
1. System software 2.71 SE-B
2. Memory ScanDisk Memory Stick PRO Duo 2,0GB
3. Downloaded hend.rar, copy only MS_ROOT folder into PSP root (f:/)
4. Downloaded HENC-DEVLAUNCHER271v2.zip, copy only dh folder into PSP root (f:/)
5. Downloaded devlauncher271_2.rar, copy only GAME into PSP/ (f:/PSP)
6. Downloaded 11615_301_DH_FW_INSTALLER.rar, copy only %__SCE__301_dh_fw_installer & __SCE__301_dh_fw_installer into PSP/GAME/ (f:/PSP/GAME)
7. Downloaded 301_EBOOT.pbp copy to PSP root, rename EBOOT.pbp
After doing this, i still unable to see "HEN-D picture" in the photo.

Start again, reformat your MS, read the tutorial carefully, and also have a look at the guide that's quoted on one of the earlier pages, read all the replies in the thread because alot of them have questions and answers.
Took me hours and hours to find all the right threads, someone should probably update this guide (no disrespect to the author at all).

After remaking this guide it still hasn't seemed to solve anything.. maybe ill just make a package containing all the necessary files for this expect the 3.01 dh file, since its unique to your own PSP. Then you would just have to install the 3.01 and then you can emulate it no problem.

Remaking 1 step by step guide with EVERYTHING needed to conduct the upgrade from 2.71 to 3.11 would be EXTREMELY helpful. There are many stpes missing and then others say to do this and that and even links are no longer available. It would greatly help if you could create 1 guide that will contain everything needed.

You might just want to downgrade your PSP, really it is worth it in the end. But if you prefer Devhook then i guess you will have to contact the creator of 3.11 on 2.71 guide because i did not make that one. Im surprised this isn't working for you. The 3.11 on 2.71 guide seems very simple.

I have done everything and when I go to 3.11 under the firmware and choose the game, it reloads and is still in 2.71.

Is anyone able to compile 1 complete user guide that explains in detail how to take an original 2.71 firware to 3.11? All these guides seem to be in pieces.

Do you mean update? You don't want to do that if your planning on play downloaded games and stuff.

The package idea sounds really great. Managed to get devhook running 2.71 with the main guide from this thread but have the same issue as c_f when trying 3.01. Any extra help would be very grateful!

everytime i go to the hen d file and click ti my psp freezes...and ive tried this for about 20 times...how can i make it workk?? and im only doing this tutorial so i can do that other tutorial on making 3.11fw games work on 2.71fw

uhmmm the guide doesnt show us where to put the EBOOT.PBP in part 1...where are we supposed to put itt?? and i tried putting it in the ms root and it worked and then said "Cannot create OUT folder" what do i do?

Take out the UMD, it won't load with a UMD in the drive.

okayy thnx alot that worked...but now when i run the 3.01 fw dh it keeps saying memory stick full or cant create OUT folder...what do i do?? and my memory ctick has 2 free gb to use

Man I can't remember, I know I had the same problem, and there's a sensible answer somewhere on this forum for that, just have to search.
I went between about 4 different guides, some of diff fw updates, to get it going.

Great Guide. However my problem is that when I try to run the 3.01 dh fw installer I get a message that says unable to create a report because there is not enough space or cannot create the file and freezes up. I have to take the battery out which resets the entire device to its default. I have a 2 gig memory stick duo with nothing else on it. Any idea what the problem may be?

Whenever I came up with those problems, I copied down the exact msg from my psp onto the search bar of this site, and it usually came up with the exact topic + question + answer I was after.
