Do you suggest the Ixtrem Vers. 1.4? or is there an other one better for the Hitachi Vers 0.47b?

Thanks wabashman for the quick reply. Really appreciated!
The only issue is that I live in Australia and wasnt sure if it would be economical for me to order from NewEgg.
Thanks once again.

What I meant earlier was that NewEgg will not ship internationally and it will be less economical and time consuming if I use a parcel forwarding service

ya, they wont ship, but this way you have the brand name, model number etc to find the exact one you need.

Hey I have a question.. Ive been wanting to modify a 360 for some time now.. After looking at alot of FAQ forums, Ive noticed ALOT of people get banned from Xbox Live for it..
My question is.. I'm going to purchase a 2nd system which will be the system I modify, can I still use my same gamertag offline and not get banned? I'll only get banned if I connect to Xbox Live with the modified system right?

Right. The only way to stay safe is to have 1 console for backups and never use it on LIVE, and have a 2nd console which is unmodded to play online.

Thanks for the fast reply, I also have 1 more question. Which is the best chip to go with? I'm also going to install the Blaster360 which allows you to flash your firmware without opening your case.. Which are the best/affordable peices? And what website should I order from? Thanks in advance

The most popular method of playing backups is to flash the dvd drive, not use a mod chip. Chips aren't too popular in the 360 scene. There's a couple people here on the forum who use them, so if you do want to use a chip then they'd be able to give you better advice on which one.
And the Blaster360 is a huge waste of money. You still have to open the case to install it. And in the time it takes you to do that, you could have flashed your drive, made a backup, and be playing that game.
If you want to spend money, you'd be better off just spending $5 for a case opening tool.

Sorry, I worded that wrong.. What I meant was installing the Blaster360 means you only have to open your case once. Cause next time you have to flash, you simply plug into it instead of opening your case

OK. But, if you plan on using a chip, the Blaster is no good. You can't access the firmware on the chip with the Blaster, only the firmware on the dvd drive.

Does the dvd drive have to be hitachi-lg? If I dont have that drive in the system I'm modifying, do I have to install one? Or is it possible for all drives? Whats the difference between flashing the dvd drive and installing the mid chip? If its the same then why would anyone ever install the chip? I definatly see what you mean. But is there a difference? Sorry for the billion questions, just trying to figure out which direction I should go

Oooh see I was led to believe the blaster360 was for the modchip.. Is there a difference between using the chip and flashing the dvd drive though?

Ya the chip runs the risk of bad soddering and frying ur mother board. Flashing is pretty simple and easy to update.

Hey guys, I'm having a bit a trouble getting into mode b with slax. I have a Hitachi 59DJ and according to the below statement I should be able to use the onboard sata in my PC.
"Hitachi 46 / 47 / 59
These ?older version? Hitachi drives can be flashed with basically all SATA chipsets. It should work as long as the SATA supports ATAPI devices (optical drives). Another good thing about these drives is they are the only Xbox 360 drives that can be flashed with a SATA-to-USB adapter. The cheap generic one I bought on eBay worked fine."
I've followed the directions by unplugging all HDDs and optical drives except the 360's hitachi drive. I put the Slax 2.0 alpha 1 CD in the drive powered everything off and booted both the PC and the 360 at the same time. Nothing happens. I get no "spinning up" message.
Any ideas for me?
EDIT: Nevermind, I just used the pin and resistor method. Much easier.

Hi I am very new to the 360 modding. I used to have a reg xbox that I modded with a 200gb hdd and a crystal clear case but it was only a soft mod on the hard drive. What I was wondering is do you have to use a modchip in order to mod the 360 so that it can play backups. Also what are the chances of a new 360 pro console getting the rrod?

i know you can connect a external HDD with the usb connection, you cannot save games or media content on the external, it would be for movies, music and pictures, i don't think you can add a HDD to the inside, but i wouldn't be surprised if there is a tutorial on it somewhere
