It's advertisement, you're supposed to pay them for that.
Also everyone on here knows that they can get RROD xbox replaced. Try craigslist, I see many people selling broken ones on there.

I realize that, I'm not saying you're trying to scam them. It still is against forum rules though, that's why they won't let you.

so are the consoles that are sent back to MS for repair actually repaired or are they replaced?
My friend gave me his RRoD'd 360 and I'm shipping it out, but will it come back as he same console that is fixed or will it have a new motherboard, with HDMI, etc. (Its an older core model so it doesn't have HDMI)

Well its at microsofts descretion, if it can just be fixed (which most can) then they fix it. If its unfixable they replace it, probably with the same version.

Hmmm I guess I'll just have to wait and see. I really hope I get that HDMI port, but beggars can't be choosers.

You sound like me, I wanted the HDMI port too, and the new cooler running chipset. Of course you would think if they would put new chipsets in the ones they repair, they would solve quite a bit of their problem. But I guess that would be too easy, they would rather the old chipsets overheat a over and over again.

It's that sort of thing that makes me not even want to bother with this whole mess. Because once the 360 is operational and to my liking, the friend that gave it to me wants $150, which isn't bad, but it'll be terrible if it fails again.

I have an XBox 360 Elite and it works fine. You should leave some very open space for it so heat won't build up and also my 360 isn't the 65nm new Falcon board kind its the 90nm one.lol.But Ive had no problem with it.My adivice is for you to leave ur xbox 360 inside a tv stand thats big.I only use my 360 so I have plenty room.Just my adivce.

$150 is too much, I bought a broken RROD 360 off e-bay for $60. Your friend is trying to scam you.

I had my 360 in a open space, had the Pelican vertical cooling fan, a fan blowing behind it, never played more than 2 hours or so...and still got the RROD. Just luck of the draw. I bought a Falcon one, SO much cooler. I am selling my MS replacement on E-bay. Sick of getting the RROD, like twice now.

I got 1 light again the other day.
E68 I believe, had to un-clip and re-clip the HD and it worked fine. This one's going to clap out on me soon though because I leave it on for ages.

WOW, really?? It's the one where it connects to the USB for power, thanks for telling me. Have you seen a bunch of them? Thought it was cool bc it wasnt the intercooler.

Sorry I thought you were talking about the intercooler, my bad. Still it's kinda useless to attach fans now. With the new xboxes that Microsoft sends you you don't need a fan and they will work fine for a long time.

Cool man, I was about to say, I was like "great, I just bought that". Yeah definitely there isn't much you can do to prevent the RROD on the old ones, I did everything I could. Right, the new ones are the best for sure, so much cooler. MS should send out all RROD replacements the Falcon ones, instead of sending people refurbed old ones time and time again, so annoying.

the RROD problem isnt directly a heat problem (2 flashing lights indicates a heat problem), its that the processor and GPU chip get so hot that they de-solder from the mainboard (if they just made slots like computers this would happen). Once it happens, trying to keep it cool isnt going to fix it. You need to replace the x-clamps with bolts and tighten them down hard to make contact. Ive fixed many RROD consoles, and they never have any short term or long term problems (in fact ive never had a console go back to RROD). Just dont lisen to people when they say to not overtighten, when its not tight enough is when they go back to RROD.

So a friend of mine sent his elite off for repair and it came back about a month later... A few days after UPS dropped it off she finally decided to open the box up and see if the unit worked... She was hooking up to her entertainment center and he realized that there was no HDMI port in the back. There was the notch in the black plastic case for the HDMI port but no connection. What we are guessing happened is the repair center put a standard 360 (either a core or a premium unit before they had HDMI) in an Elite shell.
She was pissed so she called the 1-800 Number and they told him there was nothing they could do because she was outside her 1 year warranty. It is a bunch of bull because she was sent the wrong product. We were thinking about it the other day, the Elite’s haven't even been out for a year. We called the repair center again, and explained what happened to the gal. She was very unhelpful, she didn't even know what HDMI was and even said that the XBOX 360 dont have HDMI. At which point we asked to speak with a supervisor.
The supervisor got on the line about 15 minutes later and we told her what had been happening. She was a little more knowledgeable than the other gal, but then again that isnt saying much... She finally ended up telling us that there was nothing they could do because the unit was working. they cant send a working unit to the repair center.
What is up with that?? My friend was sent the wrong blummin' product! We have called 3 times and were told the same thing. Finally we called and told them it had the rrod, and within minutes we had a repair order setup. Hopefully we will get an Elite with HDMI this
time!!!!

That is so much bull!
Most of the times I've talked to Xbox customer service they seemed pretty knowledgeable about their stuff. Maybe you just got a bad bunch of people.
Good luck.
