Hey "ooZEROoo"
I'm having the same exact problems and pretty much have the same exact equipment as you too.
I have a Dell Dimension E510 computer, a Comcast Cable Modem, a Linksys Router BEFSR41 and the Sony PS3. My PC, PS3 and a spare PS2 (on a different tv) are all plugged into the 4-port router.
I can NOT get this MEDIA SHARING to work and have tried every freakin method available. I swear it has something to do with the Router Firewall. I was just wondering if you found a solution for this issue? I've tried WMP11, Tversity and NERO Media, but no luck at all. It's like the router isn't recognizing the PS3. I've been at this for the past two weeks - argh!!!!!

My Linksys Router is a BEFSR41. As for the Network settings for the PS3.... I am on a NAT Type 2 and UPnP is UNavailable. Could that possibly be a problem if my UPnP is UNavailable????

I enabled the UPnP and ran the Connection Test on the PS3. UPnP is now available on my PS3, but still no luck with searching for a "Media Server." Man this sucks! I'm surprised there's no legal documentation on how to setup this feature. That's pretty lazy of Sony. Have you had any luck setting this up yet?

Yeah - I heard VISTA wasn't very good, but that's just my opinion. Everyone has one (opinion). I guess I'll just wait for a FIX/PATCH from Sony on this feature. I heard that Linksys and Sony are working together to resolve this issue. Surely their not just going to overlook the complications involved. I'll try to keep you posted if I hear anything further.

Just a few things to try:
First, make sure your running at least 1.8 firmware
Then make sure you have either th LATEST version of TVersity, or the older one that needed a PS3 patch
Then make sure all your devices have static IP's (not necessary but helps)
Also need to make sure Media Server is set to enabled in the network settings of the XMB.
I would also recommend disabling any security programs you might have running (including Windows Firewall) until you sort everything out. UPNP is also ESSENTIAL for this to work.
If you've got all that sorted then I'll try figure out what else could be the problem.

I dont think my PS3 ever showed up on my PC, in any way. There is a small chance that it might have when I was using WMP11 but I stopped using that for TVersity as soon as I got it working. It will be your router firewall by the sounds of it, Im not that knowledgeable in the area of routers as my setup is a direct wireless (sometimes wired) connection between my PC and my PS3 but I do have a good knowledge of networking in general.
Also to install WMP11 on a non genuine system, open the installer (exe) with something like Winrar and extract all the files to a folder, then run all the exe's except the setup.exe (not too sure if thats what its called as I dont have the files on my Laptop anymore) there should be about 6. That should pass WGA.

Hello,
I recently bought Nero7 hoping that I will be able to stream from my PC to the PS3. Everything works fine and there are no gaps in the picture, whose quality is pretty good.
I encode avi's to mp4 usin nero recode. When playing the mp4 through Nero Showtime or Nero Home, the subs appear fine. But whn I stream the movie to my PS3 the subs are not displayed, and I can't figure a way to displaying them (no subs settings available to PS3 or Nero Media Home).
Pls help, I'm desperate!!!
