Which of the two programs (pandora_battery and pbfirm_installer) installs the files onto the memory stick and only the memory stick? So that means it doesn't do anything to the battery.

Thanks
-BrendanL

My PSP Firmware History: 2.60 had to return the PSP because it had a dead pixel > new PSP had firmware 2.71 > 1.5 > 3.52 M33 > 3.52 M33-4 > 3.71 M33 > 3.71 M33 with 1.50 kernel

from 3.50 you need either a homebrew enabled psp (1.50 or cfw) or you need lumines, do you know anyone with a psp, cfw?

well you are posting on a thread about a psp unbricker for one, and you cant use the unbricker unless you have a homebrew enabled and there is only a chance of bricking if you turn it off or YOU do something to stop the flashing

how can you be scared of bricking on a thread about an unbricker lol
just downgrade then upgrade to cfw the chance of a brick is tiny if you follow all the instructions when you do it

omg... you need custom firmware to make the battery, and you can downgrade straight from 2.71 and if you do then format your memory card it dont matter cause in custom firmware YOU DONT NEED HEND, or in you case c

would you be able to make it with hend?... no cause you need to logically format your memory card

Come on guys give him a break.

@ddh
I don't think anyone has actually tried it. Why don't you. Running the battery app can't hurt anything other than the battery. I would just try to emulate 1.5 then run the battery app. If it runs backup your eeprom then convert it. Although there is a 50/50 chance of restoring the eeprom through the backup you can always fake it keeping in mind the possible side effects. I have faked one back and so far it is working with no problems.

Ultimately you will need a 1.5 or CFW PSP to create the MS files so if you don't have access to either of these the battery is useless.

@foxrider
It may be possible to make the battery on hen, but the firm installer would surly need 1.5 or CFW because of the format.

@ddh

I'm not positive, but I think the battery app will run without formatting the MS. I would think the formatting has more to do with creating the Magic MS not the Battery conversion.

I have seen guides that say to convert the battery before making the MS. And vise versa. So that would lead me to believe the format does not matter for battery conversion.

It is what contains the FW files the battery looks for when flashing the PSP. Without the MS the battery is useless.

As the others have suggested you really should just downgrade and run CFW. It is soooo much better than Hen and DevHook. And now with pandora bricks are a thing of the past so you can mess around with your flash all you want.

If you are that afraid of a brick and want to try to downgrade just PM me and I will help you with the procedure. Hell if you brick I'll unbrick it for you for free. You will have to pay for shipping both ways. Anyway don't be afraid. The best things come when you risk a little.
