If the eeprom on the chip wasn't backed up what side affect does it have? Also is there a guide to program the battery (chip) manually? Through a programmer so i do not need a homebrewable psp?

some of the side affects i,ve heard about are randomly flashing the psp on it's own and i think the only way to make it is with a homebrew enabled psp

That Tool battery from Datel, you still need the memory stick huh? Oh well. Hey would anyone be willing to convert my memory stick? I'll pay for shipping and service of course. BTW, I've got the basic 32mb Memory Stick Duo by MagicGate. Man am I behind on all of the news and releases.... I knew more about the PSP hacks back when 1.50 came out than I do now, when I can actually buy one! :P

I downloaded the file from the first page
Pandora_s_Jigstick___Magic_Memory_Card_Installer.exe
but where do i find this file that´s mentioned below??
Did i miss a dowload file?? cause i dont have any pandora´s folder.....

____________________________________________________________________
1) Use mspformat.exe from the Pandora's Folder to format the Memory Stick.

*Open any folder, From the upper menu select Tools-->Folder Options...-->View-->unmark "Hide Extensions for known File Types"--> Apply an then OK.

*Then Copy the "mspformat.exe" from the mspformat folder inside the Padora's Folder to [My Computer/C:]

v3.52
Now i tried this guide. Got to step 13
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/553863

(13) Here we go again START >RUN type in CMD . That black box will open again . Now copy the address of the msinst.exe followed by the PSP drive letter followed by the address of the msipl.bin

Now if your PC shows C:/ in your CMD it should be something like this (with reference to PSP?s drive as I)

C:\Documents and Settings\username\Desktop\PANDORA\msinst\msinst.exe I Documents and Settings\username\Desktop\PANDORA\msinst\msipl.bin

IF you PC shows C:\Documents and Setting\Username> then it will look something like this :

C:\Documents and Settings\username>Desktop\PANDORA\msinst\msinst.exe I Desktop\PANDORA\msinst\msipl.bin

If you did it right you will get a prompt like (this promp will differ from PC to PC) :

>>> PSP MS IPL Installer
>>> Load IPL code msipl.bin
>>> 241664 bytes(59 block) readed
>>> Target DRIVE is 1
>>> Check partation Sector
>>> boot status 0x80
>>> start head 0x0B
>>> start sec/cyl 0x0018
>>> partation type 0x06
>>> last head 0x7F
>>> last sec/cyl 0xCFE0
>>> abs sector 0x00000177
>>> ttl sector 0x0003CF689
>>> signature 0xAA55
>>> Check BPB Sector
>>> signature AA55
>>> Check free reserved sector:OK
>>> Write ABS Sector 0x10 to 0x1E7
>>> Are You Sure ?[Y]

Type in Y and you will get

>>> Write MS BOOT CODE

Congrats you now have a Magic Memory stick . Now Disconnect your psp from the PC and remove the memory card and turn of the PSP , then place the MS back in and turn the PSP on .

NOTE : if you get

>>> PSP MS IPL Installer
>>> Load IPL code msipl.bin
>>>Can?t open msipl.bin

The location (address) of the msipl.bin is WRONG (i got this like loads of times until I figured it out just keep trying ) )

But i get
PSP MS IPL Installer
Usage: msinst.exe driveletter ipl_block_file

hmmm what does that mean??
Really need this to work so i don´t look like an ass infront of my girlfriend LOL

you can't make a pandora battery on a 3.52 official sony firmware it can only be made on a homebrew enabled psp so if you are trying to make it on official sony firmware then i'm afraid you will look like an ass infront of your girlfriend

Try dragging over your msinst.exe file and dropping it in the command prompt, so you know you're in the right place, then make sure your msipl.bin file is still at the root of your memory stick.

Now type " g g:/msipl.bin" and press enter.

(g is the PSP drive letter as an example)

Hiya,

I'm new to the whole downgrading scene, and just wanted to clarify a few points.

i) Am I right in thinking if you downgrade to v1.50 then you loose the added functionality / applications of the later versions? i.e. Web browser, etc?

ii) If you do downgrade to v1.50, can you restore the missing apps?

iii) I only have my own PSP, and no one else I know has one, so is there no way of using this method with my original v3.52 psp and standard battery / 512mb MS card (i.e. can I not convert the MS and battery to the Pandora Battery / JigKick?).

Many thanks everyone!

Sicdude, I forgot to put in my previous post that I have READ THIS post from start to finish.

Your link to the start of the forum was very helpful as it provided me with a very quick method of reading this post again for the 3rd time.

Maybe I should expand on my post....

Im sorry but there is no-where in this post that answers this question

Quote:

Again there is no mention in this post regarding this.

Like I state in the question "is there NO way of doing it without another PSP running v1.50"

Some people are ignorant and post coz they dont want to "think" for themselves, and would rather other people answer the simplest of questions for them. However other people actually try read up on things they aren't "too clued up on" and try to educate themselves.

These are the kind of people that don't want to brick a £150 piece of kit for taking a "cavalier" attitude to something you may see as being simple. Or do you see it as simple because you have probably done this, or similar actions plenty of times before???

If it seems like I am ranting, I appologise. But I thikn people tend to loose patience with n00bs, and we all have to start somewhere.

If anyone else would like to answer my questions I would be greatly appreciative.

Cheers

before you start ranting all the answers are there if you think about it
answer 1:of course you will lose most features thats why it is called downgrading
answer 2:if you did read closley you would see that it is only a subset of 1.50 so you would need to upgrade to a higher custom firmware anyway
answer 3:no there is no way of doing it without a 1.50 psp or a psp running custom firmware,i wasn,t being nasty but there are alot of ppl that do come on here asking questions that have been asked before,hope this was more helpful
