Just try it, it's possible that it's older stock that still had the older battery version.

PSP, all the way from 1.00 to 5.50 GEN D2 - DS Lite w/ M3DS Real (M3 Sakura v1.34)
PS3 3.01 - iPod Touch 2G 16GB Jailbroken - Xbox 360 60GB - PC, Q6600, 3GB DDR2, GTX260 (216) 896MB

For you it sounds good for the PSP itself, cant speak for the battery since I cant mount mine in a FAT to test (untill I nip off the key tab).

For others, the bigger issue I notice is the PSP SLIM itself. Regardless of battery, 3 newer models since January, do not allow creating, enabling, or disabling the Pandora battery (even from oldest Sony OEM. I mean even a Pandorized battery from a FAT, cannot be disabled in a SLIM when finished with flash.

Those are my findings.

Your findings? It's well known that Sony made the new motherboard specifically so Pandora's cannot be created or altered on those PSPs.

So well known that it took several post to get that answers form several PSP forums? Yet, only from 1 person!

I'm just saying, it would be cool to just include it in the main instructions for furure use. I have an origional PSP FAT and would have just did it like that from the get go if I was told in the beginning. Yet if I didnt have one, at least I'd know where I stood.

Point taken that it isn't mentioned very often, when i guess it should be. I only say well known because i've seen a few others talk about it before and it's been in the news at QJ etc. but it can easily be missed i guess.

hey guys,

i'm trying to convert my battery back to a normal one with the eeprom i backed up but it can't change the serial to a non service one. I've tried a few different programs, UPMS installer tries to write my serial but then verifies it as still being 0xffffffff and says failed...
any suggestions?

this might b a n00b question but i think it got over looked when u go into recovery & switch to the "1.50 kernal" should it change ur XMB so it back to original w/out the add-ons like "internet radio" & also when i go to my sys. info. my firmware says "3.90 m33" w/ no "-#" those r updates correct do i need one of those updates to run the "pandora's battery" software

No, it doesn't change a thing, all icons will still be there.

Yes, they're the firmware patches, this means that you don't have any, i suggest you install the 3rd patch but it's not terribly important.

No, you don't.

OK I have a regular PSP version 3.90. I want to downgrade so i can install CFW so I can, ultimately, install CWCheats. I have some questions:

1. Do I need to downgrade from 3.90 (official firmware) in order to install custom firmware?

2. If I do, how can I downgrade from 3.90 (official firmware) to a lower firmware without pandoras battery?

3. Is there a way to install CWCheats without custom firmware?

PLEASE E-MAIL ME IF YOU HAVE ANSWERS TO THESE 3 QUESTIONS AT email removedAS I WILL NOT CHECK BACK ON THIS WEBSITE (MOST LIKELY)

Why?? If you read the rules you'd know they aren't allowed.
Check them out esp. # 6.
For that one you now get a vacation.

I seam to remember that. It doesn't clearly state in the beginning of this tread, but I had issues too getting it to run in Server and XP x64. I had to find an old x86 notebook to run it. Yet it didnt complete anywayz, so I jsut went back to my regular x64 PC and copied the files over to memory stick after the format and it worked fine from there. I had the same experience with the other 3.90 easy installer as well, so it must not be x64 compatable. See my POST a few months back where I explaine exactly what happen.

Hope that helps.

I would be greatly interested in those "models" as I just bought my psp slim about a week ago. And those are "battery models" or "psp models"?

It's the PSP's motherboard version. Since you bought it very recently, there's little chance you could use it to create a Pandora Battery.

Ja, exactly. So what are some of the collected, known mobo rev or #'s to look for if we buy a newer used model. I'll post mine. Where do I look so see, w/o opening up unit? same as in FAT, inside UMD opening?

@ the other guy; I used my FAT to creat and run on SLIM just fine though. Hopefully you have a FAT friend near by. good luck

Newer, as in the SLIM, yes. Except, for some recent SLIMs, you cannot disable or enable a Pandora battery. Just go back to your FAT when done and it's all good. Or just leave it if that how you had it (Pandorized) all along.
