I think my problem is the update asked me to reboot the game. meaning that i should load the game with the update again. is their anyway i can clear a previous game's update?

Hey, Im new here, been watching this thread for info on the Wiikey update.
I am pleased to say that after downloading and running the 1.9g update on my NTSC-US Wii i was able to play SMG no problem with my Wiikey!
i ran the wiikey update, then rebooted the wii as ordered, put in SMG (aquired from a popular torrent site) did the console update and was able to play with no hang-ups
awesome game! played briefly before class, but its looking like a Must-Buy!

Hi, I've been keeping tabs on this whole SMG saga. I haven't updated my wiikey since I've got it but if I want to play SMG will i need to update to 1.9 first and then update it to 1.9g hotfix or can I just skip the first step? Because I think most people have updated to 1.9 already, it's just I haven't and I'm wondering if I need to do that beforehand. I'm cautious because I've semi-bricked my wii once. I appreciate any help that can be given :)

Now all I need is to get the Wiikey.
I had to call the place I ordered it from again today cause I still didn't get a shipping confirmation. They said they forgot to ship it out yesterday so they will make sure it gets shipped today. Plus I am supposed to get a refund on the difference between the Cyclowiz and Wiikey since they said they had Cyclowiz in stock when they didn't.
I will be monitoring that as well. Hopefully the Wiikey and the refund will be given today.
Once I get it frickin WiiD is being riped out.

Were you already on 1.9 firmware before updating to 1.9g or were you on 1.0?

Kkevin86: im not sure how the whole update/hotfix thing works... but i would suggest updating to 1.9b then 1.9g just to be on the safe side... its unlikely that 1.9g just updates a little chunk of code as opposed to a proper full flash, but you never know.
MistahK: are you on an NTSC-US Wii? if you were on a PAL Wii, or possibly an NTSC-JAP Wii i could see that error being prompted by trying to play a different region game and it detecting the difference in regions, but if you are on an NTSC-US Wii I dont know what to say.

I'm on a NTSC-US wii, i think the problem is i updated the console with the disc when i first got the iso, and when i put the game in after the 1.9g it's still recognizing the update. i need to clear the update then try it again. I need to clear the game's update. The same way it's done on 360 for certain games. The problem is, can the wii clear game updates?

I doubt the Wii update is the issue. If that was the case there probably would be allot more users having this issue. Are you sure the 1.9g update was installed properly?

I'd say your flash didn't go well or something like that.
I highly doubt if you updated the wii firmware before or after you put 1.9g on your wiikey will make any differance.
I'm sure there are alot of people here who are running fine who did the same thing you did.
And man I hate being stuck at work when this news breaks ;)
Could this be a geniune/clone wiikey issue??

Both updates said they were sucessful, but that was the first time i did an update for wiikey. Was i supposed to see a wiikey menu or something? After the update, i just reset, popped in galaxy and still had the same message. Am i missing a step in there someplace.

I've not heard of such a way.
At the moment I also don't know what firmware Nintendo has made available online, it could still be 3.0 so getting online to try an update mite not work.
You could try just buy the ethernet or wireless adapters from a local electroncs store giant and take it back after a day or two saying you're not satisfied. Mite be worth a try afterall.
/me loves futureshops not satisfied policy.

This is what i did and is fully working
last week i updated to 3.1u and then 1.9b
Today i flashed my wiikey to 1.9g and the SMG asked for some update, of course, i said yes cos it wasnt reading the game, after updated my wii was reading the game and is fully working, AMAZING GAME!!!
Right now 3.1u
Note, burned the game at 3x with imgburn.
Note2: sometimes my screen goes black and then back to normal, weird, thats the only issue i have found.

More ppl seems to be suggesting that the wiikey update doesn't enable SMG to work? Can anyone that has done the update confirm that it does work? Coz it seems like it doesn't which is a major disappointment

lancerx: How did you update to 3.1u? I'm guessing you must have done this by going online? And after you updated to 1.9g firmware, did you still have to do an update from the SMG disc? cheers mate

Sorry to trouble you guys again. I just want to know if anyone knows how to expand the 1.9g.iso file so that I can burn it on dvd disc. Filechop doesn't seem to be working for me..I drag the file into filechop, but nothing happens. Anyone know what I can do? Thanks again
