@Moedot7
If you bought the datel tool battery for the fat psp - then yes it will work in bith the fat and slim.

If you're talking about ruining the datel tool battery I think it would be hard to do unless for some strange reason you opened it up & started messing around with it.

For Vista there's post around here somewhere about what other members have done.

Oh and let's watch the text speak - makes it hard to figure out what you are trying to say.

So, yes, rest assured if you follow the steps completely, it WILL work. The reason is because this method is not actually using any official firmware to run, it's circumventing that and running a special "unbricking firmware" via the memory stick and the pandora battery, thus what firmware you are running never enters into the equation.

Thank you for answering my questions.

The battery isn't hard to find, they're in lots of shops. I personally prefer the Fat battery from Amazon.

Yes a PSP fat battery can work on a slim. You need to get the fat's cover for the slim PSP though so it can hold itself inside.

The battery life depends on what the mAh of the battery is.
I think it goes in this order:
1200 mAh - Slim
1800 mAh - Fat
2400 mAh - Slim
3600 mAh - Fat

So basically the Fat battery is stronger than the slim.

I wouldn't waist money on a cover to hold the fat battery in on a SLIM. Just hold it in there.

I have successfully installed 3.71 M33-2 yesterday on my PSP Slim that had 3.73. I wanted to thank "larrylje" for the excellent doc and all you guys for your help. It took less than 1 hour for me to install this. After installation I copied my .iso and .cso games and all works fine.
I followed this link to hardmod my battery and larrylje's link for software installation.

I used the original battery that comes with my PSP Slim and after the installation I unmoded the battery using a pencil just as the link says and it worked fine.
I used a 4GB sony memory stick and that also worked very fine.

Though, I have the following quistions.
After the installation I tried to install add-on for 3.80 M33.
I ran 'MUX UPDATE 2.0 by KSBO' and selected 'update 2 : 3.80 M33'. My memory stick light was blinking for more than a minute. Once it stopped I exit out of the program, rebooted, but the ver still shows 3.71 M33-2. Am I doing anything wrong?

I have the following executables under my Game - Memory Stick.
PSP Update ver 3.80
1.50 Kernel Addon for 3.90 v2
M33 3.71 uPDATE VER 1.50
1.50 Kernel Addon for 3.80
and
MUX 2.0 by KSBO

Is there any way to hide this icons?. I don't want my kids clicking on this by mistake. Is this programs are needed in future?

Thanks Krishna

Sounds like you just installed the 3.80 up date. You need to install 3.80m33 then the update to get to custom firmware 3.80m33. The update will make it 3.80m33-2.The latest version is 3.90m33 with a m33-2 update you can get it at http://dark-alex.org/. I dont know about hiding the icons so your kids dont use it but you can just copy them to a diffrent location on your memory stick or on to your computer to keep them safe. You should make sure your kids dont touch them they might brick your psp if they stop the installation processs. You dont really need these files anyway. Firmware updates come out every 2-6 months. The only reason you may want them is if you want to install custom firmware on another modded psp.

Choosing 3.80 M33 in MUX 2.0 dosen't install the update it writes the update to the Game Menu Memory Stick directory so you can run it from there.

After the Memory Stick stoped flashing all you had to do is exit MUX then run the 3.80 M33 update under Game Menu Memory Stick. After you update to 3.80 M33 you can then run MUX 2.0 again and select 3.80 M33-5 and follow the directions as before. You can also choose to install 1.50 ADD ON for 3.80 if you have a FAT PSP (SLIM PSP systems are not comapitble with 1.50 ADD ON).

Thanks to everyone, That was the part I didn't understand. And I was scared to run any other programs. I have done as 'larrylje' said and my FW got updated to 3.80 M33 now.

Once again thanks to all.

When running "start.exe" I never see the second from the last screen where it says "PSP MS IPL Installer" at the top and your supposed to hit "y" and enter one last time, instead it goes from the screen where it saves all that stuff to the card straight to the credits screen where you hit enter to exit. I tried installing the custom firmware anyway and I only get the battery light coming on with no blinking on the mem card light. Any suggestions?

I tried a different but extremely similar program called "totalnewbieasyinstaller" which goes through pretty much the exact same steps and it shows me the IPL screen but comes up with this error - "PSP MS IPL Installer
Load IPL code g:/msipl.bin
241664 bytes<59 block> readed

Target DRIVE is 1
Check partation Sector
Cannot open device \\.\PHYSICALDRIVE1
Can't read partation sector
Press any key to continue..."
I'm using Vista and i know Larrylje said it doesn't work, it is just sooo tempting since there are a couple users who posted saying it worked fine with vista. No access to XP. stupid me

Ok so, I tried to hardmod my slim battery and when I was using my razorblade to open it up, something sparked and started smoking. I guess I'm not hardmodding a battery any time soon. My question is: Do any of you have a datel tool battery that you are not using anymore that you can send me?

can i still downgrade and install cfw using this battery or do i have to get a new one?
