I have a slim w/4.05 installed. I just made a magic memory stick and ordered a pandora battery. Are you saying that downgrading to 3.71M33 is not possible?

It definitely wasn't a 4.xx firmware, that much I remember. It was 3.xx, not sure which version though.

Then it is 100% possible, just run DC3 if 3.71m33 is what you want. DC4 for 3.80m33, DC5 for 3.90m33, and either DC6 or DC7 for 4.01m33.

OK, so I recently fixed my friend's bricked PSP. So he messes up all of my hard work by upgrading to 3.80 OFW for some strange reason.
So now I've followed this guide, and I put in the Pandora's battery and magic memory stick and when I start it it just loads up the regular XMB.
Am I missing something here?
I need to get to the screen where you can install 3.71 m33, right? But it's not happening....

sounds like something wrong with the pandora battery ... if it is a real legit pandora and is working as such it shouldn't load the regular menu

from what i understand, correct me if i'm wrong, you can downgrade any OFW **as long as** its not a TA-088 V3 slim ...
if its an 88 v3 slim it doesn't matter what OFW it has you can't downgrade it...

It's legit because I used it a week ago.
Anyways, I turned it off, and came back later, and somehow it turned on and the 3.71 installer was ready to go! I have no idea what happened, but I'll go with it! :)

THIS works!!! Here is a tip, if it doesnt work, before you do anything, format the card using Windows (ie. use a card reader). I tried this like 10 times before i formatted. After doing that it worked :). This is the only guide that worked for me. I even made a pandora battery while looking up other site, and they never told me to use a battery or what do. TY SO MUCH!!
But i have 1 question:
If i use a 1gb card to install the firmware, can i use a diffrent memory card to play games, listen to music, etc.?

yes because only the firmware changed. You can even use the same memory card if you want to.

Someone recently gave me a 1gig Datel Max Memory card. Will this be okay to format and then use for a magic memory card? Or does it really need to be Sony?

@XRemedyX,
You wont know for sure until you receive that pandora battery. I recently bought a PSP-2000 with 4.05 OFW, and I didn't even have to use DC7. It doesn't matter what OFW or CFW you may have, you can still downgrade if you don't have the new TA-088v3 mobo.
The previous posts are not entirely true. Once you receive the battery, if the MMS doesn't load you may have a TA-088 v1 or v2 try DC6 or DC7 and if it still doesn't load the CFW menu then you'll know whether or not you have a TA-088v3 mobo.

Hi guys. Nice quide larrylje. I'm a total niebie at this and i didn't get what you are trying to say by
For those wanting to go to 3.80 M33 or 3.90 M33 or 3.95 GEN just go straight to it and skip the 3.71 M33-4 update.
I'm on an ofisial 3.90 on a slim psp and I have the magic memory stick created from this quide and waiting for my Datel tool to arrive. can some one explain me what that meens? i want to upgrade to 3.90m33-3. thenx in advance!

Well..it doesnt say Magic Gate on it..and it doesnt say MS Pro Duo on it. It does seem to work as a normal memory card though.
