I've just upgraded the firmware to 3.90 M33 and
everything looks great the internet works fab. The one stop upgrade
is brilliant. My question is as I am v. new to all this, now I have upgraded to 3.90M33 where do I put the game files? do I have to format the memory stick and then install the games or is there some other way?

Grateful for any help

Format the Memory Stick and it will create all folders needed. PSP ISO/CSO games go in the ISO folder. Homebrew PSX and Emulators go in PSP/GAME folder.

in my system information it says that my system software is 3.90 M33-3, so i now have custom firmware right?

about the kernel thing, my psp is alredy set to 3.5 game kernel, i was able to access the restore menu and was able to switch between 1.5 kernel and 3.5 kernel. i finished installing the 3.90 M33-3 and it was successful, but when i try to load a game it says the game cannot be started?

any ideas why this is happening?

As stated above. You can not use this guide unless you are already on Custom Firmware. You have Official firmware. So you need to use Magic memory Stick and Pandora Battery to install the custom firmware.

There are allot of guides in the Ultimate Sticky section of this forum. Go there and read.

Hi

would like to say thanks to all the tutorials here on afterdawn it has worked great on my first attempt at cfw for my psp

I had a quick question regarding updating using the mux 2.0. I have got 3.71 m33 4 already on my psp but when i try to update to 3.80 or 3.90 my magic memory stick just keeps on flashing for a long time and never stops

My question here is does my magic memory stick have to have the ofw of 3.80 or 3.90 before the updating can work??

i cant seem to upgrade to newer cfw using mux 2.0

any help would be appreciated thanks

This guide does not use a Magic Memory Stick. All files are in the proper place as well. So no additional files are needed.

Follow the guide word for word.

Keep in mind when running MUX and you choose a firmware all MUX does is write it to the Game menu Memory Stick directory. It does not install the custom firmware. You need to go back into Game Menu Memory Stick and choose the custom firmware installer in order for it to install the custom firmware.

Hey by looking at the step by step guide it looks exactly like what i did when i used the other tutorial to install the cfw onto my psp.

my problem before however, was that after trying to update to a newer firmware it would read off the memory stick for over an hour and wont do anything. I then cancelled the update but when i go back into my memory stick to try to update it says that the file is corrupt and wont work??

so by following this tutorial and downloading the two files i shouldnt have a problem upgrading my 3.71 m33 4 firmware right??

No you go from 3.71 M33 to 3.90 M33.

There have been thousands of users that have downloaded the files and none have had issues. So the files and guide works perfectly fine.

If your having issues it is due to your PSP your Memory Stick or files where not downloaded properly.

So format the Memory Stick and redownload the files and drag them over and try again.

If it still doesn't work I don't know what to tell you. All I know is there is nothing wrong with the files or guide.

You need to downgrade the PSP to 1.50 then you can use this guide to install whatever custom firmware you want.

Go HERE and read the guide under the "-2.01 PSP/2.00 PSP" section. After you have followed the guide and downgraded to 1.50 come back to this guide to update to custom firmware.

There is no extra applications needed once you install custom firmware. After you install to whatever custom firmware you want format the Memory Stick. The folder directories will be created on the Memory Stick.

Place the ISO file in the ISO folder and play via Game Menu Memory Stick.

If you want to play the game without a UMD in the bay press select and the VSH menu will come up. Go to ISO Mode and press right on the D-Pad till it says Sony NP9660 then exit out of VSH menu. You can now boot the ISO without a game or movie in the UMD bay.

Downloads (OK I HAVE DOWNLOADED ALL OF THIS)
Eloader
2.0/2.01 Easy Downgrader
1.50 Update

1. Copy all content of eloader099.zip to the root of your memory stick. (My psp is f: so i copy all the contents into that drive)

2. Next open the 201DG.zip file and copy the PSP folder to the root of your memory stick. (I did what it asked)

3. Next copy the v1.5 Update EBOOT.PBP (Rename to EBOOT.PBP differently) to X:\PSP\GAME\UPDATE\
You may need to create the UPDATE folder (Why does it ask to rename EBOOT.PBP to EBOOT.PBP does that make any sense to you? Well I created an UPDATE folder and put the EBOOT.PBP inside)

4. Now run the downgrader via eLoader. (this is where I am stuck in and I dontn know what to do please help)

5. To downgrade, you need to select the set to v1.00 option (the Circle button).
This will fake your PSP to version 1.00.

6.Once you've completed the process, you can run the v1.5 Update EBOOT, directly from your PSP's

Game menu.

You should be able to go to Game Menu Memory Stick and run the Eloader application that is there.

This will let you run the downgrader. Select 1.00 so it will emulate 1.00 firmware on the PSP.

Once it is emulating 1.00 firmware you can go to Game Menu Memory Stick and run the 1.50 update application to flash 1.50 firmware to the PSP.

Make sure after doing the above steps it says 1.50 under System Settings/System Information for System Software. If it doesn't then try again. If it does say 1.50 then use the 1 stop guide I provided above to upgrade to custom firmware.
