thanks for the great tut!

quick question though - I upgraded to 3.52 M33-4 no problem, ran MUX 2.0 and selected the 5.00 M33 update. I then ran the update from the XMB, the usual black screen with text came up etc etc, but then the official Sony update screen popped up asking to install 5.00. Should this happen?, and should I carry on with the installation?

cheers

Currently on my 7th PS3 and 4th Xbox, gotta love technology..

It will 'appear' as if the Official version is being installed so yes go ahead and install it.

hi great guide but ive got some problem here

i bought my psp from a friend and when i got it it already has 3.52m33 inside, so i did what u wrote to get to 3.52m33-4 using the 3:33:33 update file with a calendar image, but my psp screen became dark and turned off by itself. I tried your recovery thing too, but its already switched to 1.50 kernel so i dont have any idea what to do.
and one more thing, cant i just skip the 3.52m33-4 and just run MUX 2.0 KSBO???

thanks for the help, greatly appreciated

The 1.5 kernal allows you to run old homebrew that was originally created for PSPs that used the original 1.5

Slims do not require the 1.5 kernal, but you can use TimeMachine if you want to use old brew. Its pointless really because new brew is not created around 1.5 but upon new firmware and function accordingly.

Apologies in advance, as I am a noob..I've done a few hours of research on many threads and want to confirm my understanding and subsequent actions before I go into surgery....In order to play a .cso file, I must:
a) upgrade my fat psp's firm ware from 3.52(nothing else listed) to 3.52M33 which can be later updated to other firmware versions (ie 3.71, 3.80, etc) without having to downgrade to 1.5 since unit will be starting from 3.52 M33.
b) then load some version of devhook in order to play the .cso files
c) lastly create an ISO folder in the root dir of the memory stick.

Is my understanding correct? Thanks in advance!!

Using the 1 stop guide I was able to upgrade to 5.00 M33-4. Thx. I tried downleveling back to 3.90 M33-3 using the same files from the 1 stop guide by selecting 3.90 M33-2 from the menu. However, it would not downgrade back. How can I downlevel my firmware without using the pandora battery and magic stick?.. Thx in advance.

Well if you have tried to go backwards without success and u know the files work then that would say that u will be using the pandoras battery etc.. I frequently go back and forth through firmwares.. starting from scratch everytime

wow... i need to give you props for putting together such a great guide .... i am definitely new to this PSP modding and starting with 1.5v .... got thru all 18 upgrades/updates last night by following your guide step by step....
FLAWLESS ....
i am now on 5.00 m33-4 and already have a custom theme (newly downloaded) on my PSP !
sorry, seems minor but really cool this all worked so well !
anyway, only question i have is ... after all this is done, what file/directories do i need to keep on the card? i assume i don't need the update and some other folders ... but what is truly needed to keep there?
Again, thanks for such a great posting for us Newbies!!

Backup any files you want saved. Then format the memeory Stick under settings. This will format and create all the folders you need. After you do that transfer over your backup files.

so MS is not really used during "bootup" process it seems.... ok, really nothing on mine right now but want to get cleaned up and then start putting games on MS.

before updating last night...long night ! ha.... i had 3-4 homebrews that worked .. for 1.5v. i did all 1.5 Kernal updates as you step-by-step instructions shows..... i still see the games but they wont run.... launches but then says "the game could not be started. (8002014C)" ... anyway to change a quick setting that will enable me to still play these?

thanks again.... very helpful !

wow... worked like a charm.
newly formatted. copied old 1.5 homebrews to GAME150 dir as you said... they work beautifully!
copied my Wolf3d into regular GAME dir... works great.

noticed ISO folder in root drive now. if i get ISO or CSO 's in future, i assume these go into this folder.... as opposed to GAME folder... yes?

all games going into GAME folder should have their own folder/Eboot file... right?

really neat... thanks again

ISO/CSO go in ISO Folder.

PS1/3.xx and above kernel homebrew go in GAME folder.

Sorry to keep posting on this old Thread.... but hopefully this will finish matters after this email... otherwise, i will start a new thread...

took my SOCOM fireteam bravo UMD, ripped the ISO and saved on PC ... Then copied to root/ISO drive on my PSP.

shows up under Game menu but when i launch i get that "the game could not be started. (80020321)" message.

is there something special i need to do for this particular game?
** on psp1001 -- CFW now 5.00 m33-4

Thank you!
