(i own US ntsc wii with wiikey)
thanks
If it has a brand new protection, that means that we would have to wait for another wiikey update. Hopefully 1.9g will be enough.

Probably the fact that the SSBB update is so unstable that Nintendo actually put notices in the DVD case telling people not to worry if the disc doesn't work the first time

He was using a Japanese Wii. I heard that the people who worked at the stores were already to get a hold of one. Check this out, it shows that they are already in stores.

yeah, places break street dates all the time in the US, and its even more common in Japan. It should be leaked very soon to the internet as well.

I think an update would be the worst, especially if the game doesn't function when that update is removed and/or not installed.

I dont know, I dont really trust it. If it was the real game then why would he have a problem updating it if it's from the same region.

Okay, here is the real information:
http://kotaku.com/349494/ssbb-shipping-with-showstopper-bug

n4g.com has this link to kotaku.

Apparently, it is just a rumor. It doesn't mention if it is because of chipped systems. It sounds like the article is just referring to non-chipped systems.

The credibility is....eh....(read it for yourself)

Frankly, since this rumor was posted on 2channel I wouldn't bet on it. Besides, if it is just a normal bug I'm sure nintendo will get rid of it by the time the game ships to US and Europe. Still, doesn't mean that us people with chipped systems are safe from the update. Only time will tell. Again, it's a rumor and people are apparently still able to play even though it crashes sometimes according to kotaku.

I dont know maybe it was just a rumor, but I have heard from a lot that the new update on SSBB is going to mess up your wii without another update like the one form SMG. I mean just look at the link that Legalto posted. The update even effects non-chipped systems.

Kotaku doesn't say that it necessarily messes up systems without a chip. It just says that they had difficulty starting the game or something. It mentions that some people were able to get around it and play it. It seems like it's a bug in the update that keeps it from updating properly; it doesn't seem like it is some anti-piracy update from nintendo. However, regardless of the fact, I recommend that everyone plays it safe until we actually hear about someone updating on a modded system.

If the firmware update does mess up modded wiis, than who will get the people who have chips like the wiikey their update for the game to work. I am asking this since the site has been down for like 3 months now, and they were the main source of these firmware fixes.

Guys,

go to brawlcentral.com and smashboards.com (if you can, the traffic is huge)

both are running REALLY slow, but someone is leaking pictures as they go through brawl. THEY HAVE THE DISC. So far they have provided indisputable evidence of a few characters (no biggies, but i don't want to spoil anything). This means anything (like an .iso) could be popping up soon, or info leaks for that matter.

The firmware update that messes up peoples wii are different from the chip updates. The new update(believed) from brawl will update your wii's firmware(danger of bricking). As for the wiikey's firmware I believe that if a new update is need it will appear. Like I said earlier, hopefully 1.9g is enough.

Supposedily this is the full, final roster. Theres a couple suprises on here, both in who was added and who was removed. This is NOT the one with 40+ characters including Ridley thats been floating around for awhile now.

MAJOR SPOILERS! If you dont want to see it dont click it http://img180.imageshack.us/img180/2338/finalrosterbg6.png

Even if it does have an update, couldnt that be solved (if nothing else works) by renting the real game (or borrowing it form someone you know), running the update, and then from there on out a backup would work?
