Try to change the wii read speed with the wiikey config disc from either 3x or 6x. If it is set on 3x set it to 6x, and if it is on 6x set it to 3x.

Do you have Nero?
If so place a DL disc in your burner and go to START/NERO/TOOLS/INFO TOOL and it will do a scan. After the Info Tool Window comes up choose the Disc Tab and see what the Supported speeds are. Try burning it at the top supported speed that Nero says is available in IMGBurn.
The rated disc speed might be 2.4 on the box but Nero will let you know if a higher speed is supported. The DL I burn with says it is 2.4X but 4x is supported and that is what i burned my backup with.

but even if i burnt it at a slower-than-rated speed shouldn't it work anyways?

Not necessarily.
If you read previous post some said burning at 2.4 did not work. But burning at the highest supported speed worked. You should always try burning at the highest or half the rated speed. If the rated speed is 4x then burn at 4x. Try to avoid burrning at 2.4X speed or slower. This advice has been given since the start of the Wii Mod Scene.

I would set it at 4x or MAX. Do you have Nero and did you do an Info Tool Scan?

I recently downloaded the caravan DL version of SSBB but encountered the white screen problem. I run an NTSC J wii. At the moment, I'm trying to narrow down on the problem. Some people say that the wiikey needs to be updated to v1.9G but I was pretty sure(until today) that I had 1.9G installed as I was able to play SMG without a problem but maybe that doesn't mean anything. I also read that there may be a problem with the way I'm burning my game. I used Verbatim DVD-R DL at 4x and once at 2x. Both disks failed. What could the problem be?

So far when I set the layer break L0 to 2084960, I was able to play the backup disc deep into the game.
I had Wiikey 1.9g and Wii 3.1U. I used Memorex +r DL.
Now I have the problem: In the story mode when I want to beat the last Master TABOO, I got the same green screen with 2 Japanses lines with the word OFF in the middle.
I guess this is the problem that Wii can not read the disc again.
Will BURN the disc at the max supported speed will solve this problem ? Please help.
One more thing about the Wiikey. Wiikey has probably the largest installation base, and the Wiikey team just disappear altogether.
That is very disturbed.
UPDATE: Try different disc speed 3x, 6x, wii still can not read the
disc past the failure point.

The Wiikey team has gone on to D2CKey and D2Pro. So others should think twice about buying those 2 Modchips. If they dumped the Wiikey then I wouldn't put it past them dumping the D2Ckey as well for D2Pro.
I wouldn't trust them at all.
Infectus team has gone a long way and have pretty much cleared up most flaws with the release of 1.7 firmware. So I would defiantly recommend an ARGON over D2Pro anyday.

Nintendo can sell a lot more Wiis by just inventing a new security scheme to break all Wiikey, no matter how stupid the scheme is.
I would not be surprised when all Wiikey owners will rush to buy a new consoles to replace the old Wiikey ones.

No, you have the option to play with all 4 types on controllers. Any four of them will work.

I have both the DVD-5 and DVD-9 versions of this game and cannot get my Wii to read them. I have a Wiikey fully updated and am burning on a samsung drive. I have tried burning the DVD-5 version on Taiyo Yudens with both Nero and Imgburn with the settings called for in this forum. I have also tried burning the DVD-9 version on both Nero and Imgburn to no avail.
Please someone post the method that they used to burn this game for use with a Wiikey.
Anybody help PLEASE!!! Any questions PM me!!

When I first put the game in, it ran the update and then says that it can't read it. It plays other burned games, but not this. Anyway to cancel the update or something? Please help, they won't even let me start my own thread about this now.

You didn't do anything wrong. Brawl is a dual layer game. The version you have is the single layer rip of it. Essentially, you have half the game.
