Refresher - let's read the thread title.
Hopefully we will not have a repeat of when the Japan version hit the torrents, newsgroups etc.

thanks to anyone that can help
Installing a switch is easy. Just run the VCC wire from Wii drive board to Switch terminal. Then a wire from the other switch terminal to the Wiikey VCC point itself.

So i think i understand it, still new to this i guess could say. but does it work like a jump i guess? just hook this VCC wire from chip to switch to board? if thats right where do i put the switch to get to it? or is it just called a switch and not really a switch? in the sence that it does go some where externally where i can just flip it on or off.

now do i just solder these wires? sorry if it a dumb question. and where would i get this stuff?

It is an actual on/off switch you would need.
You would either need to run the wires out of the Wii through a Vent Hole or somewhere, or drill a hole into the Wii Case to place the switch.
I have read in other places that people have been putting switches through the Game Cube Memory Slots if they are not using them.

Do we know why Wiikey isn't working with SSBB originals? A disc type should be a disc type. And is it possible that the NTSC-U original will work where the NTSC-J hasn't?

*sigh* It's been said many times that the reason the origional disks arent working is because of a glitch with the wiikey. It cant read dual layer origionals. Printed and burned disks are actually built quite differently once you get into the technical details which is how consoles normally detect backup copies and prevent them from playing.

And since the problem is in the wiikey and not anything else, I highly doubt that the NTSC-U origional disk will be playable when the NTSC-J isnt unless we somehow get a firmware update for the wiikey, which is looking less and less likely as time goes on.

Yes - though it's usually called dual layer.

k hopefully my last question before i go through with this. i notice that the image above say to connect one wire to the chip to same place the chip meets the board. so why do i do this there already together how does me putting a switch there work? do i take the soldering out and re do it but have one touch chip and one touch board? does that mean i have to take out the chip all together and connect the chip to the board by wires? Cause right now i got the chip solder to the board.

You would unsolder that one point from the board.
With the solder removed those 2 points should not touch any longer.

Love it, games amazing, but now I got my hands on a copy of the US version and my wii won't read it. >.< I DID download the Jap update and I've never used Wii brick blocker, oh. and I have a Wiikey. Hey I have a Wii version 3.0U with a Wiikey installed, will my Wii be able to play a legit copy of Brawl? I know the answer is in this thread somewhere and I'll continue to look for it but a quick reply would be nice.

I really don't know what I'm doing when it comes to this modding stuff. This is all jibberish to me cuz a
friend" modded my wii and gave it back and left it at that. I didn't even know what kind of chip i have until 10 mins ago. I figured what I read from the posts was a no, I just wanted some confirmation.

Ok, heres a different question. If you just snip the red wire instead of attaching a switch (with the intent of attaching as witch later), is that a temporary solution or will that burn something out

Yes, you can snip it as a temporary fix. If you think about it, that's what a switch does. It either makes the connection (thus allowing the modchip to be powered), or it doesn't make the connection (thus causing the wiikey not to be powered).

The only downside to snipping is that if you want to play any other backups then you will have to reconnect the wire.
