hi all

i posted a question fews days ago about this box super 3, has 20x7 vents after reading everywhere i couldnt see what it is clone original or freak of nature. I then got some reply's off my post which were mixed some saying a clone some saying original original. Could some one please clarify for sure if they know what it is cause its baffled me. Also if it is a clone will the software be released or is it only available for originals.

Thanks for your help

Hi everyone, hav been reading these threads vigorously but cannot find a solution for my problem. I'm having a flash failure.

i hav the boxsuper API version 7.05e_E boot ver: 8.0 10th april 2008...

i hav all the correct cables & i've tried numerously to download of my XP but all i get is flash failed!
EVERYTIME 0%

so then i run it on my old laptop which runs on ME.. & i'm managing to get 2 maybe 3 % then the box kicks into re-boot.. the max it's actually achieved is 9% & i hav done this a trillion times to no avail.

please can someone help?
Delete the firmware you have and download it again, it may be corrupt, you are better staying with the old laptop if it has a 9 pin port on it, so you can use the NULL MODEM lead straight from laptop to the box, now if that does not work, then you definately have not got the correct NULL MODEM lead. There is a straight serial RS232 lead and a NULL MODEM lead and to the naked eye they look exctly the same, but they are wired differently, go to here to check. >>>>>>>>> courtesy of Hiteck >>

thanks for your quick response.
i hav deleted & downloaded the firmware 3 times already..
the cables you hi-lighted in your link are the exact ones i brought from maplins..

perhaps i should try a re-order of the cable?.. but i'm doubtful.. as they are exactly identical to the ones cited in your link

do u think the cables could be faulty?
Go to dooby's guide and make sure that the COMM port is assigned correctly, have a careful look and read and follow it. >>>>

Thanks malci
I've been useing dooby's guide as well so I'm going to buy some more cables today and try again...will let you know..thanks again.
So I've tried new cables but still the same result 2 to 3% then flash failed (on the old lap top)
So now I've gone back the the computer and tried to flash it via the USB/cable (got the correct drivers for usb)changed the port setting but still nothing (0% flash failed)
can anyone suggest what else i could try (apart from trying to fix it once and for all with a hammer)
Many thanks Ecniv

As Des said, he is far better off updating his SV 3, it is available for him, and the reason the info you have given him is not working/no good, is because you are Auntie Hell and he is Ex C&W, completely different.

If you want to stick with Starview, then consider the Starview 4 USB, if you want a change then go for the Eurovox, it has to be a personal choice really, everyone has there own preferences, but if you are looking at price wise then have a look here >>>>

If you just want to receive channels with a smart neat box >>

If you want the option to record then look at this Starview USB
