what is a generic eeprom, where do I get one and what are the risks of using them. I guess I didn't copy it to my pc only the memory stick which was formated through the steps of making the mms. Would it still be embedded on the stick or is that kind of a dumb question.

I have started some research. I am going on ebay to get the game before they are all gone.

I have a PSP-2004 with OFW 5.02, and if I understood well then it should look like this..

1) Create MMS
2)Buy a Datel tool battery
3) put the mms and pandora battery to the psp
4) Start the PSP and click X

Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Also I never got CFW on my PSP. When I bought it got 3.70, and I didn't put any CFW into it, only OFW. Will it work? Sorry, I'm a newbie to this.

Thanks

I followed it, but it's a little messy. I just want to make it clear. Can you just please write how to install the custom firmware with the pandora battery and MMS on a PSP which has Official firmware 5.02.

In the section "How to use Pandora Battery + Magic Memeory Stick" it says that "The following steps should be performed on the PSP that needs to be unbricked or have custom firmware installed". What does unbricked means? And if I don't have custom firmware installed and got official firmware 5.02, should I just follow the guide?

Thanks, and sorry for me noobish questions, but I really don't really understand it :]

the guide is not messy at all. it's designed so you have to read it carefully.

larry has already removed one of his guides from the forum. anymore shootdowns will make him remove this one.

The Guide is very clear and easy to follow.
It says Clearly at the top on which PSP it will work on.
Says that right from the start.

So follow the tutorial exactly and you will have no problem.
If you do there are reasons, read the troubleshooting section.

As for terms you don't understand, do a search in forum or use "google".
People should really research a bit before they dive into these things.
You can even post a new topic if you need help.

With the type of questions you are asking, you are going to brick your psp. My suggestion is that you should probably find someone that is familiar with this sort of thing. The guide is not messy at all. You only have to have the ability to follow directions.

The guide wasn't working for me due to my version of xp i guess, so the memory stick was formated a couple times and I didn't back up my eeprom. Can anyone give me anymore information about the generic eeprom or a link about it. I have my batt that i'd like to try to get back to normal if possible. If you look at a post i've done backa few I have the two choices in gray, which are staying that way. What is the risk of using another choice, likie one of the top 4? Any help will be appreciated.

YES! 1st post... I'll try to make it a non-idiot post.

ok... I have God of War PSP, it HAD 3.95 official on it; however, by following the guide I have successfully finished flashing to 3.71 M33-2 using a friends pandora since I was unable to make one. That was the background info...

Here is the Question:
Do I have to update to a different CFW? If so... Which should I go to and for what reasons?

I read the crap out of this thread and still haven't found a conclusive answer. Awesome guide btw, very easy to follow. Thanks!

You didn't even know it was there until you stepped in it... because my shiz don't stink!

@klnek

If you think the guide is to messy then you have no business following it. Before you do try this do a little research in the PSP forum and learn the differences between OFW and CFW and different ways to mod a PSP and what a brick is.

I already answered your question right below your post.

@foku

You can go to whatever firmware you want. Most update to the latest 5.00 M33-4 firmware.

Hello, I got few questions.

1) What is Nand? Is it better to make the recovery of it?
2) Does this work on all official firmwares? (4.05, 5.00, 5.02...)
3) http://www.playcentrum.cz/BigImg.asp?ARI...200MAH+SLIM+PSP

" Place the magic memory stick in the PSP and then place the Pandora battery into the PSP. You should now get the Pandora menu."

I don't get the menu. I am using a battery from www.pandorabatterybuys.com. Is it possible that the battery is bad ? Power ligh comes on but nothing happens. I have used my computer running vista, and my computer running Windows 2000 Pro., I have used Sandisk 2gig and a Magic Gate 4gig, I have tried using the psp through usb cable and using a card reader. Nothing seems to work. Thanks for the guide but still lost as what to do next. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

As said to previous members. You need to try different MS and PC combos till you find 1 that works. I can't magically make it work for you. A few others said the same thing as you and finally found a combo that works. So keep trying.

This guide is actually really good...it is clear,
@hufyn
1)Quote from LeadBaron-->"pretty much, it contains everything in the internal flash chips, including, but not limited to, firmware, settings, IDStorage, and the ps1 emulator by Sony."basically it is used to store internal psp "stuff" and to restore bricks...unofficially.
2)Not sure what this means, every psp has a NAND whether it has cfw or ofw. If your asking the battery will work on every psp except a psp3000 and a psp containing a TA-88v3 motherboard.
3)The battery tool will help fix and or mod a psp, except those stated above.

That would probably be because the answers to these questions are either in the guide or in the stickys
A simple search in the forums would have found your answer.

Hi SmokyRain, first let me apologise for my questions, I have read a read both and found conflicting posts, there is a post that states any OFW over 3.90 cannot be downgraded...

Higher versions cannot be downgraded via downgrader, but can via pandora battery and mms.

incorrect. anything 4.01 or higher, out of the box, cannot be downgraded. anything 3.95 and lower can use pandora's battery and MMS.

There are versions below 3.95 that can be downgraded via a downgrader, but all can be downgraded via pandora battery, except: what cee43ja1 said, the ones 4.01 and up out of the box
