Looks Like M$ has started banning again!

THIS IS NOT A DRILL, here it is, banning has begun, id suggest you uplug all consoles immediatly, just to make sure you dont get the ban hammer. if you have banned, just post here to add more accuracy to this accusation.

Possible reasons
-------------------
1. BY playing GOW 2, or Call of duty World at war
2. They can now detect the 1.4 firmware
3. They have know and have the list of modders, and this is a mass ban, just before the release of the new dashboard
4. You know one of those games that they released, well it could have had a virus like effect, the game could be a ban game, basically, by playing the game they KNOW you must have a flashed 360 and are targeting us.

None of these have been proven yet, just throwing some ideas out there.

MANY REPORTS OF BANS CAME IN, I GOT BANNED TOO

This account has been banned for voilation of the terms of use . To protect the Xbox LIVE service and its members, Microsoft does not provide details about account bans . There is no recourse for Terms of Use voilations.

This test versifies ....... /

then it saya about ip confimrmed and dns verified and stuff
I knew it would come thank god i only did a couple boxes with firmware mods. 2 out of 30 isn't bad.

Looks like it logs your ip, mac, looks up the dns. My guess is if it keeps happening at a certain ip address they send the big boys after you.

re-read.... i said 2 out of 30 have firmware mods. I figured the ban would come so instead of selling modded fw boxes i sold ones with casemods, cooling mods, repairs, ect... This way i don't have a bunch of people pissed off at me, though i take no responsibility if my customers get banned, but still i feel bad.

Anyway if you're reading that topic on xb-scene it's almost all people who played gow2 or cod early. Keep an eye on that topic i'm sure some good information will surface soon.

C4RN1, cheer up man, don't feel bad. The people who buy or ask for your services should know better than that there is no 100% safe to play on LIVE. I have flashed few X360 for my fellow coworker and to each I explained the risk of being ban from LIVE. And I also tell them That if they wanted 100% safe then don't mod the console and buy the freaking games.
oh, one more thing, since I have never experience being ban before.( cross my finger and hope the day never come) Let say my console is banned, can I still play games offline?

Well i guess that its a good thing my xbox has been getting repaired during this time, b/c i def would have tried cod5 early. However i wouldn't have connected to live until they came out.

My bet would be on playing GoW2 early.

Yes, I do know that there are times that stores will break release dates and sell games a little early. But GoW2 hit the web before it even went gold. So people can't use the excuse that they bought the game early when it wasn't even shipped to retailers yet.

Yeah just can't ever connect to live again.

Oh and i'm not sad, i'm just one of those people that do absolutely everything myself. So i have a lot of people depending on me for various things. It builds relationships that i don't want to tarnish. So even if one of my customers gets banned because i told them not to do something, i'll still feel bad.

No because the 360 logs every game you play. It will see that you played a backup. This is almost the same question as playing the games offline then putting in an original and being "safe". MS can see that you played with a backup offline so in theory you would still be banned. All this is a hit and miss as we are still guessing how the system works. If you just search this forum you will find a lot of answers to your questions.

You have got to be kidding.

Isn't this a bit presumptuous? Yes, the Xbox logs every game you play, but if Microsoft could just "know" every game that is a backup, wouldn't everyone who has played a backup and gone on live be banned relatively easily? There has to be more to it, like playing games before they're released, having old firmware, playing unstealthed backups, etc. You seem to know what you're talking about, but you're making statements that you can't verify.

So someone clarify this:
-The people who played gears 2 early getting banned
or
-Everyone getting banned?

Well adam you have a bit more learning yet. The sentence you didn't quote is the one you should be reading...and pretty much the same thing you just said to me.

Really you can not make a perfect copy of a game. And no everything i've stated i've read in numerous other forums or even here on afterdawn.

We're getting closer and closer to figuring out how this system works. A lot of people believe it's not just one flag but a few. So if you have one thing out of place that throws a flag. If you have 4 things out of place that will throw more flags. There could even be a factor that multiplys flags, we don't really know yet. If i were to write the code i would probably do it the same way. All they would have to do is add a string that checks the disc id. I'm sure there's something like that in place now, and when the update comes we'll see more people getting banned because they can implement that into the complete dash.

Cruise through this thread on xb-scene.

It's up to 7 pages now and the thread is just over a day old...

There's a lot of inconsistant data on there, people banned with just fw without playing those 2 games. People being banned due to playing on live with those games. People being banned from just having firmware modded. It doesn't make any sense. It's going to be a learning situation, if you don't want to be banned, be careful.

Just so you know i'm not trying to target you in any way adam, so don't think that. This post is just as much for the other members as it is for you.

I understand what you're saying C4RN1, but all I was saying is that we don't know yet. I have heard your theory on the flags and it would make sense, but again, we don't know. I have been keeping up to date with reading too (in fact, I was reading that forum you posted just before I checked back at this thread) and I don't claim to have the answers, but neither should anyone else. I see that you aren't just pulling these theories out of thin air, but they are just that, theories. So far from what people are saying I would guess that you are correct and COD 5 and/or GOW 2 could have something to do with this... but who knows?

ya i dunno... reading that thread over there... it really does seem related in some ways to the CoD and GoW early releases...

just too coincidental i mean people are getting disco'd + banned right as they are playing either one of those...

Well, for my two cents...

I'm not banned yet atleast (knock on wood). I have a ms28 flashed with 1.4

I have had games in the console before their retail release (gow 2 fallout 3), but before I played them, I unplugged my console, changed the date, and then played the games. From that point on, I did not plug my console back into live until every single game I had played was actually relesaed (so when gears 2 was released).

Hopefully I'll still be good, but eh... we'll see.

As for what I've read, i read that someone made a comment that (hearsay) c4eva has looked at the latest update, and that MS hasn't changed their detection methods (yet), and the thoughts are that it is from people playing bad rips of games/on live too early.

It looks like it is largely effecting people who played gow 2 and fallout 3 early.

This isn't 100% fact, but the best info I have found so far.

need jtag help? Xbox 360 console repair? PM me or chat

I'm with C4RN1 here. The only knowledge I have is from following multiple forums and sites daily and I've been doing so since the launch of the 360. But, there's just no way to tell the specific reason behind the ban.

I threw "playing GoW2 early" out there because playing a game before it was even shipped to retail would be a pretty big flag. The same with Fallout 3. People played that way too early.

Also, there were review releases of Fallout 3 and Saints Row 2 which hit the web. That may have had a hand it in. The review copies disconnected the player from LIVE. If that info is stored and transmitted to MS via LIVE at a later date, again, that could be a reason behind the ban.

In my opinion, it's the games which are the cause of the ban, not the firmware. If it was firmware, everyone would be getting banned. Even if MS bans in waves, still, we would still be seeing a lot more reports of people being banned.

What's happening now is the same thing which happened back when CoD4, Orange Box, and a couple other bad releases hit the web all within a weeks time. A few dozen consoles got banned, then everything calmed down.

Our only option is to sit back and see how this round plays out.

so they stop people from playing on live which you have to pay for, however you can just not play on live which means not paying them and sit back and still play any game you want for free?good move.at least they should try and make some money.

They are making loads of money.90% of the people are going to go in buy a New Xbox,I think it was a Smart move on microsoft's part. They are only banning the console not the gamertag.
