sadly there is a wealth of information that 360`s are highly likely to store info of bad games on the console so when you do go on live you will be flagged for a ban at the next ban hammer

on the plus side abgx 360 gui actually fixes the isos to be as near to retail as possible (if a retail version exists in its database) and its not a long process either as i say search the boards for info on it

of course this wont save you from fake uploads etc which is why i use giganews sabnzbd+ and newzbin (newsgroups basicly) this costs money but is fast (dont ask how to do that in this thread though as thats a bit oftopic i only include it in the reply as its intopic to your reply (its been a long shift ! and im sense not making))

have read every page and it started out well, but some people are hoping for a one line answer, doesnt exist i am afraid read through and if you have half a brain draw up your own conclusion based on common sense. as for the people moaning about getting banned with modded consoles i am afraid you knew the risk when you had it modded that this would happen i suppose the only people who have a right to moan is those without a modded console and havent done anything to breach the t&c.

Sorry what is torret do you mean torrent if so read the comments other people have left telling of their experience, you should always look for a region free.

I have a newbie question. Is there a 100% chance of getting banned sooner or later if you play xbox live with a chipped console? I mean are some people getting away with it? Is it just bad luck.

Yes. You WILL get banned, it's just a matter of when. Making sure your copies are properly stealthed definitely helps, but there is no such thing as a perfect copy, and because of that Microsoft will catch you eventually.

well i dont know for torrents but i know that in newsgroups on the nfo's it details what stealth measures were taken on the game. its pretty cool. But u still need to take heed from what has been said which is to always check with dvdmulleter etc etc.

I always checked with DVDMulleter and never played online before release date, still got banned, I deserved it & I've still got hundreds of games to play single player...move on.

Microsoft know what their doing, it's only very stupid people who think MS are stupid. Truth is we aren't any closer to a fix since the last ban wave, could be the firmware, could be the disc speed, could be anything. We need to hear more from the Hammer Dodgers out there, what are their practices?

(And we need to hear LESS from inarticulate noobs asking about 100% ways to *insert obvious question about foolproof methods here*

Hi, been a lurker here for a while, but wanted to post.

I had my xbox modded with the extreme 1.4 mod about 2-2.5 weeks before XNE came out. after i got it modded i never played online because i was busy and did not have much time to play. I played saints row 2 for 20 minutes just to see if my back ups worked, it was retail and played it after the release date, but i was not plugged into the internet.

I got on my xbox to download XNE and it downloaded and installed fine, i check every couple of days to see if i get banned and as of today I have not...but...

I have not played any games, backup or real games since the last time i played saints row 2, and have only checked to see if i could get online or if i was banned.

Don't know if this means anything to anybody.

Well it looks like the ban wave has sort of come to an end, at least on a few other forums this is what it looks like

chances of a ban still exist.. always will

but as for the mass bannings, they seem to be done.. for now

Stop spreading misinformation unplugging your ethernet doesn't stop the 360 to log bad rips or unstealthed backups and report it next time you plug back your connection.

Yes I am curious too. I unplugged the ethernet cable 2 weeks ago, but it seems not to help to avoid banning.:( so I hope when I connect to live I will not get banned...any news from c4eva?

And.... here we go again. Yet another noob telling others how it's safe to play online now (a few posts up), when he doesn't even know what he's doing himself. In the same sentence you state you don't play backups online but you do play backups online. You're clearly not in the position to be offering advice in this thread.

For you others who are wondering if the ban wave still exists; it doesn't matter if things have slowed down. The parameters for getting banned are still the same. MS does not turn the "ban hammer" on and off. If you raise the right flags, MS will ban you.

ive played a ton of things early including fallout 3, gears 2, gta 4, pretty much all the major games that got released early, and never checked the ISO's with mulleter or anything and i'm still not banned.
I also have my ethernet cord always plugged in.

it's probably been debunked but i was thinking maybe they flag people as modders if their consoles have trouble reading a certain disc or something...my friend who had laser problems with his 360 got banned, and he never even opened his xbox up once

That was actually part of the last ban wave. MS had thought they had found a new way to detect backups, but in the process, they managed to ban many users who just had older/failing lasers. As a result, many of those who were banned we're unbanned after complaining to MS. If you go searching, you can dig up plenty of old threads about it on xboxhacker and xboxscene.

Your friend should have called and complained to MS about it.

But anyhow, the latest firmware, iXtreme 1.4, addressed the issue. This is in the iXtreme 1.4 read-me.

I've got 2 360's. 1 been modded for about 2 1/2 years and the other for 6 months. only play back up copies on both. never played a game before the release date. neither are banned yet. they are both used daily and have both been upgraded to the new dashboard. guess i've been lucky so far. the original one is running old firmware on a samsung drive and really thought it would have been banned by now.

here's a question, are people getting banned only gold members? or are there silver members as well?
