Larrylje, you are the best... I can't believe it, I did it..!
For those that are having "DVD Read Error (324)", try to perform a firmware update to your DVD burner. I did it to my old NEC DVD burner after unsuccessfully trying different media and the problem was solved.
I successfully burned my ISO image of the Zelda game on a Memorex DVD-R and it really works...

This has been answered in a previous post including a link given that provides downloads of different looking boot loader channels (Just make sure you download a Gamma version).

I have a Wiikey 2 on 3.4u system firmware. I know I am tempting the "devil"
We will see if Nintendo can update without me knowing when the time comes and what happens, happens.
I decided to finally try this out and it worked great.
Another great guide larrylje
I even used a backup of Zelda Twilight Princess to install the hbc.
So cool.
@ Krushin
The wii accepts up to a maximum 2GB SD card. I have heard of others using a 4GB SD card, that has been filled up with stuff from the pc until there is only 2GB or less on it.
But it may not work on all 4GB SD cards.

Hi there, this is my first post, I've found the forum very informative. Having a little issue with my wii backup loader install. I've followed the tutorial to the letter, HBC running, did the cios fix, the works, everything went fine, till I tried to load CIOS 7 as per the instructions, it starts the install fine, but when it gets to the 6th file, or part, I get a code dump and it says Exception (DSI) Occurred! with a lot of code afterwards. Not sure where to go from here. I know the backup loaded doesn't work as of yet, I would imagine because I can't get CIOS 7 installed, do I need to downgrade with CIOS downgrader, if so how far should I go, I'm running 3.3U right now,
thanks in advance,
Dave

Sounds like you didn't run the ios downgrader. When you're on 3.3 or above, this step needs to be done. Install the ios 257 wad, then run the ios downgrader and then install ciosv7

I used my backup of Zelda and used the "First game save" to install.
For you without knowing I am not sure what happens if you select the wrong one.

Thanks so much Iceman, I ran the downgrader as part of the tutorial, but I guess either my 257 wad was messed up or something didn't take, re-installed the 257, the ran downgrader again, took about a second, and bingo, works like a champ,
thanks again,
Dave

Excellent guide larrylje many thanks.
My firmware is 3.3e, i installed all larryje's stuff onto my SD card and also (from the other guide)the 'wii fix folder' with the 'IOS16-64-v257' file put into the WAD folder.
For some reason i didn't get the option 'Wad Manager' in the homebrew menu so didn't do those steps, but i've just tried a back up of Mario Kart and that's working ok so far, does that mean i've everything is ok?
Thanks again

Saw your pic on the first page of the tut. thread..moved files in folder into root dir. When I got to the Wii fix file set saw [4]folders there..just added Wiiloader to the root dir., WAD to the dir. & added the first file in 3 steps to the WAD folder[IOS16-64-v257-prod.wad], the private file all was the same except... AWAD... added that to the folder, and the last & largest folder in the Wii Fix is the app. folder....I'll assume that I want to move all those sub folders into the apps. folder that was originally on my root of the SD card. If I counted correctly it adds (1) extra folder to the apps. folder. Now on my root of the Sd card I have:
00000001 folder
apps folder[14] files
private folder
wiiload folder
WAD folder[5 files + the IOS16-64-v257-prod.wad file]
& the DOL File[boot.dol]
Please Note:[in the cISO Installer folder the cIOSv7 file is missing..there are only 3 files there[boo.dol, meta & icon] I keep reading the thread about that file & importance..thought it might be in that folder..not there].What is iso249 file and should it be among the files as well..keep seeing it in thread..thanks
Okay does that sound correct larrylje..taken me a bit of time to be able to see all of this through my magnifier and set it up..I hope correctly. Would appreciate if you could confirm that I'm all set to go. would like to have my care-taker return this Zelda disk,,had it for a week now but hard to come by at video store..LOL thanks in adv.
Just want to say Thank You to larrylje for this thread & all the helpful information. Also to your wingman " iceman29 for all of his info & patience as well. Last but not least to all the peeps on the site for adding your 2 cents ..some encouraging cause it worked for you & some a little scary because you bricked the sys. which made me more fearful lol I wish there were more threads that were as clear regarding all the other things you can do from this point following larrylje's thread..like emulators & isn't there a Wii browser, movies, music...if anyone has any ideas or there already out there..would be helpful to me a link since it's very hard for me to see..thanks again to all of you!!!! OH..BTW...got the homebrew without a hitch..just need to find where one gets something they can put in the dare thing to see if an iso works!!!
question everything

So does the guide in the first post work. Why would you link to another guide in someone else's thread, when this guide works.

I just like the fact that the link I posted has all the files you need. Here they make you google and search. Why search for files when you don't have to? I am just sharing that worked for me from that site. You don't have to use it.

I hate the fact that users are to lazy or not smart enough to GOOGLE the WAD file since it contains official code from Nintendo and can not be added to the files or linked at this site.

Understand those are the rules but why? Is it illegal to have? How can these other sites do it but afterdawn can't?
