Are you serious Bhetrick the reason why you cant drive a car fast is because you put other peoples lives in danger same thing for burning down a house because you might catch other peoples property on fire because fire SPREADS.
I remember a while back a guy got in trouble on craigslist for selling copys of gears of war 2 with his xbox 360 firmware hacks two weeks before it came out. epic sued him for the pirated games and he wasn't allowed to sell games or mod xboxes again. Epic sued him not Microsoft its like they don't even give a crap about modding.
So even though Microsoft has said not to use firmware hacks they're not going to really do anything about it in because It's not hurting their revenue enough to have them sue modders or the creators of ixtreme. Infact like stealthdf said its helping them because one they no longer have that many xboxes to repair because people break there seal when they mod there 360s. Two because when you get banned you cant use live anymore so people usually go out and buy a new console. If anything this firmware hack has increased there revenue alot.
Larryje all those were irelvant to firmware hacks and ixtreme most were about mod chips or people modifying skins on games.

i think he was just trying to show that people have gotten in trouble for "mod" related activities wether it be hardware or software.
but you are correct in your statement that it would not be cost effective for MS to go after all the modders out there cause they would be spending more money than anything.

Im not saying its legal or illegal but a grey area. If Microsoft doesn't want to sue anyone over this modification to there firmware that's on them. They're allowing people to use these firmware hacks that they could of stopped right at the beginning but they chose not to. Plus they're all ready being sued alot by people due to the mechanical failures of there xboxes. There letting it slide for now and when it starts to hurt there business in anyway that's when they'll get involved. For now there not doing a whole lot about it except banning xboxes from live which helps increase there sales. Its up to Microsoft to sue anyone for these firmware modifications and so far they haven't. If my work was taken and modified i would of hunt down everyone using it and sued them but so far they haven't. So if the person who owns the software doesn't give a crap about it and knows they will make more money if you modify there software shouldn't that it self be illegal?

maybe your right maybe ms is letting us do this. No it is not illeagal you can modify anything you want that you own. That is why microsoft has not done ANYTHING. Selling a modded xbox MIGHT be illeagal.

Basically all i was trying to say is that I haven't seen anyone get in trouble for just softmodding an xbox. Thats all maybe it is illegal maybe it isn't idk i don't have all the facts. Sorry if you guys thought i was trolling.

ok homies this thread has become retarded...i am someone who got caught by mpaa for labeling and in the process of seizing items, they came across the modded 360 because they found bootleg games, now ms did not come after me as im just one guy but they clearly explained how it was illegal and my 360 was confiscated because of the illegal firmware on it...i know from firsthand experience so lets end this thread already.
